My guess for that is that Marvel is wisely trying to undersell Ant-Man a bit. Since it is their most plagued production, with the Edgar Wright fall-out and such--and that without Wright they might never have slated Ant-Man for his own film at all--they may be trying to be a little more modest about it, rather than hyping it up to the extreme. Frankly, I think the understated nature of the trailer suits the character better anyway.

I don't think they can afford to undersell it, though. People are citing Guardians as a reason that Ant-Man will be better than it could be, which is good. Guardians showed Marvel can do what they want and make a profit, but now they have to prove that wasn't a fluke. If Ant-Man performs poorly, it'll affect things.

Guardians was an action movie first and a comedy second, I think Ant-Man will try follow that philosophy.

I think that's actually exactly why they need to undersell it a little. Just having Marvel's name on it will guarantee people will see it, yet if it performs better than expected (as did GOTG), it will give it longer legs at the box office. If fanboys like it more than they thought they would, it will go a long way in ensuring good word of mouth to non-Marvelites.

Just watched the trailer for Ant-Man and wasn't impressed.

I can see this one flopping, don't think the character is strong enough for his own film and the lack of characters from other MCU will limit the interest.

Always thought he was a lame character in the comics and only got my attention during the Ultron introduction.

Generally the same as the original trailer, but with more emphasis. I'm not sure that's necessarily a bad thing, I'm glad they aren't revealing too much, it saves a lot for the movie itself.

Judging by Banner's focus in this trailer, I'm wondering if he helped work on Ultron, and that the Hulk/Hulkbuster fight will come from a disagreement between Banner and Stark over that.

Ultron is a creation of the Chituari, reactivated by Stark.

No he's not, it only said he was found among the wreckage of the chitauri invasion. That could mean a lot of things. Why would the chitauri have a "dormant peacekeeping program" with them...? It doesn't add up.

Yeah I realized I used the wrong wording after I posted.

That trailer was kind of meh to me. I don't need to see a lot of new footage or spoilery stuff in my trailers, but tonally it was like a twin to the first teaser. Or rather, it was or more like a Peter Jackson extended version of the first teaser: not better, just longer.

The novelty of the "got no strings" soundtrack has grown a bit stale for me as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for the movie, but if the forthcoming trailers are all like this, my enthusiasm might start to wane.

That was really good!

In other news: Black Widow confirmed to be in Civil War!

Yeah I saw Black Widow, Falcon, Winter Soldier, black Panther and Iron Man all confirmed for Cap 3 Civil War. So it's almost a full blown Avengers flick by itself.

Oooh! Interesting line up. I really liked Black Widow in Cap 2. I'm looking forward to seeing where they take her in 3.

Purple Man kind of scares me. I really don't like rapists. I hope they go all out with the purple skin though.

That's what I liked best about him, the total mind control, not a Doctor Doom or Thanos level of scary, but still bloody terrifying on an individual basis :look:.

I wonder if he'll keep his Scottish accent, considering the reaction to his American one in Gracepoint, it seems likely.
