Quicksilver Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Best thing about the Spidey announcement is the inclusion of all of his rouges in the MCU. The worst thing about the MCU currently is that they do not have enough well developed Villians. (Whiplash, Red skull, Malekith, Ronan etc.) It'll be great to have major Villians such as Goblin, Doc Ock, Vulture, Electro, Sandman and Venom in the MCU! Also Iron Spider, Agent Venom and Black Cat will be coming over too! Agent Venom would be such a cool member of the Guardians. Also, Planet Venom storyline anyone? Quote

I'm looking forward to all the spidey villains myself, especially Venom. Hopefully if venom is introduced into the MCU, He's more of a bigger buff version. I didn't really like the scrawny look from spider man 3. Overall im more than happy with this announcement and cant wait to see what they do with it Quote
Ultron Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Now let's just tie the new Fantastic Four film into the MCU and call it a draw,... well until someone sorts out who owns Namor this week . God NO. I want the F4 in the MCU but not the abomination that this new movie will be. Quote
rodiziorobs Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I hate to be a wet blanket, but I don't believe it. I have looked up a couple of articles about this and they all mention Amy Pascal as being instrumental in bringing this agreement about, and that she will have a key role going forward. Problem is that she resigned last week (after the hacking scandal revealed her unsavory emails). Quote
Mr Man Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 God NO. I want the F4 in the MCU but not the abomination that this new movie will be. After only one trailer, that's a bit hasty. Other than the fact the cast is young, it revealed almost nothing. Quote

Masked Builder Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 They also posted on the Marvel website... Quote
The Legonater Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Edit: Actually, having seen the new stand alone film date, there's another thing. It's bumping up all my other films , I want my Captain Marvel film, it hasn't even had its lead actor announced yet, it's such a shame Marvels first female lead film (and worlds first good female lead superhero film) is getting further and further away. I'd like them to swap it with GotG 2 ideally. I don't believe any Spider-Man films will push back Marvel's plans. Sony and Marvel have been planning ahead for a while now, they wouldn't let this mess all that up. Personally, I don't want Garfield in the MCU. I love him as Parker, but ASM-verse and the MCU are just incompatible. I wouldn't mind an all-new Spidey, with no need to show the origin because we all know it. Or Miles Morales, that could be cool. Masked Builder Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 They did get pushed back, see here. Quote
Quicksilver Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 So dies this mean Spider Woman (Jessica Drew) is also in the MCU now? Or did Marvel always have the rights to her? Quote
Steph 104th Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Awesome, welcome home Spidey, really glad that he can be part of the MCU. Quote
Mr Man Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 The F4 should not be young and doom is a computer hacker. Enough said. Why can't they be young? How exactly does that impact a story? Doom may not be a hacker, it's my own personal theory, but the reason for the delays and lack of trailers or images may because of heavy re-shoots for fans, they did it with the last GI Joe film. I wouldn't mind an all-new Spidey, with no need to show the origin because we all know it. Or Miles Morales, that could be cool. They already have pushed them back. They aren't incompatible at all, there's not a single piece of dialogue or plot line or anything that precludes them being in the same universe. Quote
The Legonater Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 They did get pushed back, see here. That's really weird. Inhumans is now after Infinty War 2? That doesn't make any sense. Marvel's pushing for three films a year, you'd think they'd use that so it doesn't throw off the MCU so much. Quote

Yeah I thought that was weird too, as I was thinking they'd have a large role in Infinity War part 2. Quote

MCU takes place in a world where New York is the major introduction of superheroes to the world. In the ASM verse that's the Lizard attack. Why does the Lizard attack stay on the news and not the aliens in New York? Why does SHIELD worry about the battle of London but not Electro shutting down New York? They don't mesh. Quote

The Lizard attack happens after the battle of New York and SHIELD is too busy worrying about the Mandarin to worry about Electro. It's hardly a main issue any more than asking "Where was Iron Man or Hulk in the Winter Soldier"? Quote

Also if Stark tower was not in the ASM skyline, what happened to it? Where is the Power Grid in the Avengers? How did the alien debris get cleaned up so fast with no left over signs of damage? It was the only choice to rebbot it. Quote

Doom may not be a hacker, it's my own personal theory, but the reason for the delays and lack of trailers or images may because of heavy re-shoots for fans, they did it with the last GI Joe film. Because the F4 are traditionally seen as an older superhero team so that's how they should be portrayed. And I don't really care if they do reshoots for fans or not, I'm still not going to see this carelessly thrown together pile of crap that was only done so Fox could keep the rights from reverting back to Marvel. It was the only choice to rebbot it. Maybe Oscorp was just off screen, maybe Stark Tower had been pulled down by TAS due to damage from the attack, as for the other two, I'm not sure why you seem to think that the entire city was seen in either film, but that's 1200 square kilometres, lots of places for a powerplant to be without having to have the Hulk run past it. Also what were the cranes for? Because the F4 are traditionally seen as an older superhero team so that's how they should be portrayed. That doesn't interest me at all, Fury is 'traditional seen' as a white man, Ant-Man is 'traditional seen' as the same age as Stark etc. Falcon is 'traditional seen' in a skin-tight leotard, the line up of the Guardians are 'traditional seen' as different to the film, These aren't comic books, they are films sharing some basic similarities. Quicksilver Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Um... The power plant is right beside a bridge going into NYC... Quote

Agree so much. As for integrating ASM universe and MCU: The power plant was a new construction, it said so in the movie, so it makes sense why it wasn't in the Avengers. Also, ASM2 was released at around the same time as CA:TWS, so shield could have been busy. Also, just because ASM was released at the same time(ish) as Avengers in real life, doesn't mean they were immediately following each other in the movie universe. Quote
Ultron Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Why are you all even arguing whether the ASM movies would fit into the MCU? It doesn't matter because Marvel doesn't want them to so therefore they don't. Quote
Quicksilver Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Eh, okay, I'll give you that, I've no clue of the geography of the city. Yeah. Confusing Geography. One more reason I'm happy Spiderman is coming over! Quote

Well, hate to tell you but a vast majority of comic book fans do not want to see a younger version of the F4 in a movie. You may for some reason want to support this movie that was literally a slap in the face to fans, but I sure won't. Quote
