Why are you all even arguing whether the ASM movies would fit into the MCU? It doesn't matter because Marvel doesn't want them to so therefore they don't.

Just fueling the fire of why they should reboot it. Except they are so... I have no clue what we are doing!

It's okay, it's a good thing they're rebooting it. Now we can forget the terrible rhino mech :ugh: But Peter Parker really hasn't been done justice yet. Miles would be an interesting and fresh way to go, but at the same time, I don't want them to. I want Peter done right first. It seems they're going to skip the origin story this time around though, which is a good thing.

Because I'm nut happy about yet another reboot of Spider-Man, that makes 6 reiterations of the character in live action over all, that's not even thinking about all the animated versions, no other Marvel property has been rebooted that many times.

Well, hate to tell you but a vast majority of comic book fans do not want to see a younger version of the F4 in a movie. You may for some reason want to support this movie that was literally a slap in the face to fans, but I sure won't.

Well it's a good job these films are made for everybody not just comic book fans then . I'm not supporting this film, I'm just prepared to give it a fair chance to show me what it's got.

6? Which are you counting? I only count 2; the ones by Sony. Batman has had a crap ton of reboots though so this really doesn't phase me.

Fair enough.

Live action meaning TV and film: the 1977-1979 series (and spin off films), the Japanese series, the superfriend segments, the trilogy, TaS and now the MCU reboot.

Wall Street Journal is saying Spidey will debut in Civil War. A bit disappointing, I was all for him in Civil War but my hope was that he'd be introduced in an Avengers cameo (probably too late for that) or one of the Netflix series (they're all about street-level heroes, it fits). I'm afraid they'll rush his storyline. Civil War is looking to be pretty cramped anyways.

I was already ambivalent about introducing Spidey into the MCU, and this only increases that. They're already pushing back the movies, including pushing Inhumans past Avengers Part 2. I hope they know what they're doing.

Oh Goodness yes. No more Rhino Mech and hopefully the actual Rhino!

Wouldn't that be so cool If the Hulk fought Rhino in some movie down the line?

If Marvel wants to gloss over the origin of Spidey, maybe introduce him as an inhuman or have him be another "experiment" like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

I think we're at the point in superhero cinema where if spiderman says "I got my powers after being bitten by a modified spider" the audience will either already know, or will just accept it.

Yeah. Let's leave it at that.

Oof...it seems like so many people missed reading that Sony still controls Spidey. I don't even know how many corrections I've made on Instagram already. Everyone saying welcome home! MCU just has him, for now, for one movie.

It'll be interesting to see where the story begins in the next reboot. I imagine they'll do his origin again, simply because of new viewers. We know how that goes. Police, wait a few years, police. Repeat.

Yeah, I just didn't waste my time telling people that.

And I also want to think we don't know which movie he's in.

Man, this makes me so happy. The fact that Spidey can join the Avengers, that it's a reboot and not the terribly flawed ASM version, and that it will not be yet another origin story. Seriously, everybody knows who Spidey is, so they can just show a few flashback scenes for the few people who don't and it will be enough. I don't even care if this pushes some movies back. I rather let them take their time with this and do it right than rush it. Sure, Sony still technically owns him, but if they're working with the more talented people over at Disney I'm sure it will turn out well. However, if Spidey is already a superhero in the MCU, I do wonder how they're going to explain his absence in the Battle of New York. Maybe he got his powers right after that?

This is great news! I'm really excited for this! Finally Spider-Man will be done right, and to be included in the MCU is amazing!

I'm thinking a post-credits scene with Age of Ultron would be a great tease, and it's not too terribly late to include it.

I don't mind them pushing back the other movies, as long as Spidey is given the love and attention he deserves, that would be great. Hopefully they don't spend much time on an origin story, some brief exposition would be just fine.

But everything from presumably Civil War out, as in the Spider-man movies that Sony makes, will be part of the MCU. So the part with Sony having creative control is unfortunate but doesn't take away from the fact that spider-man is now in the MCU.

Because the F4 are traditionally seen as an older superhero team so that's how they should be portrayed. And I don't really care if they do reshoots for fans or not, I'm still not going to see this carelessly thrown together pile of crap that was only done so Fox could keep the rights from reverting back to Marvel.

Most of the characters in the MCU are nothing like how they are in the comic books. Yondu, nebula, Star Lord, Rocket, Groot, Gamora, Drax, Nick Fury, Thor, Iron man, Rhodey, Falcon, Ultron, Vision, ect and all different from their comic counterparts, whether its by look, Origin or personality. the films are just adaptations, and since every comic book character has at least 100 different versions of themselves, you can never make a true adaptation.

For example Iron man has, 616 Ironman, ultimate Ironman, Zombie Ironman, 1602 Lord Stark, Iron mouse, Superior Ironman, House of M Ironman, Age of Apocalypse Ironman, Iron mandrill (Ape Universe), noir Ironman and those are just the ones I can remember. There is no true version of any character because they've been rebooted, Rehashed, Killed, Revived, Retired, Reinvented and Reused so many times that the source material was lost long ago. A comic accurate film would ultimatly follow exactly what Jack Kirby did ( and Stan Lee claimed to do), which would be awful. Have you read any of the comics from the 60's? There just awful, constant exposition and little to no character development. What works in Comic books very rarely translates to film simple due to how different the mediums are look at Alan Moores work. While I have very little interest in the FF as a whole ( both film and comics ), this film could be fine. We should be pleased that someones changing things up, no one wants to see a story they know the end to. Plus this new film is being overseed closely by Mark Millar who wrote the Ultimate FF and nearly everything the MCU is based on.

...I don't believe it...

Huh. Well I don't mind admitting I was wrong back there (again). Interesting, I really wonder how the MCU will adapt now. I hope they'll forge ahead with their original plans concerning Civil War rather than shift everything around to give Spidey a leading role. Stick to BP, and put Spidey in as a supporting role--nothing too major, but more than an extended cameo. I think a less-is-more approach like with the Hulk in Avengers is really the best way to go, then it leaves plenty of room for him to grow in the MCU.

My hope was that he'd be introduced in...one of the Netflix series (they're all about street-level heroes, it fits).

Reading this, I think you're absolutely right: this would probably be the best way to do the character justice. Even Sony's approach to do the Sinister Six would work incredibly well in this format.

I am glad though, that we had to go so long without Spidey in the MCU--If Marvel had had the rights all along, we probably never would have got anything like Iron Man, Thor, GOTG, etc. Having to work within that limitation--and seeing the kind of $$$ that other studios were making off of crappy movies based off of their characters--really made Marvel and the MCU into what it is now.

So Anthony Mackie as been confirmed to return as Falcon / Sam Wilson in AOU.

Whoo!

At this rate AoU will have more characters than CA:CW .

Nice tie up for Agent Carter and a great cameo at the end. I hope Series two starts with the one shot then half way through turns into the founding of SHIELD involving Thompson and Sousa.

Indeed. Who wants to bet that Russian Assassin Lady's last name is Romanov?

That being said, I really hope they don't try and spin out Agent Carter into another full series. They did such a good job with this one that I'm afraid if they keep messing with it they'll screw it up.

On a completely different tangent, someone just brought up to me a very valid concern: when they inevitably integrate Guardians into the main Marvel storylines, what are they going to do when they get Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Pratt on-screen at the same time? Like, how are the other actors/characters supposed to get us to pay any attention to them with those two stealing all the focus?

I'm starting to wonder if Stark will be killed off in Civil War, there's no other way to prevent Infinity War from filling up on egos .

I think it's current, shorter format is fine, but I do think we need a second season. I was hoping Agent Carter would depict the start of SHIELD, and while what we got was still great, I still feel we should see that.

That said, we did basically see the start of HYDRA in it's current form. So there's at least one side of the coin.

You missed the PBS "Electric Company".

So, Entertainment Tonight just aired a segment on Avengers Age of Ultron, with a Slow Mo Shot of Quicksilver punching Cap

In a factory presumably before they get the Vision, Ultron attacking Thor, Iron Man and Cap in the same factory, a shot of all the Avengers at the farm house, and some guy deploying Wolverine like claws out of his knuckles.

So anyone want to guess what the bloody hell Mack and Bobbie are up to on AoS? 'Cos we're running out of room on that team for HYDRA infiltrators.

Also, Fitz. Make you mind up on how you're going to pronounce data, stop changing it 3 times in one sentence :hmpf_bad:.

Again on the topic of Fitz, what the hell? You think that not alerting anyone to the fact that Sky is now a walking Earthquake alien is a good idea, I thought the asphyxia damaged your short-term memory, not your common sense :sceptic:.
