Bilbo Baggins Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I read a few months back that Marvel is developing Luke Cage and Iron Fist for a movie. I would love to see Iron Fist get his own movie, I don't really know Luke Cage though Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Methinks I need to read up on a lot of comic book lore. When that film was confirmed, I had never heard of Guardians of the Galaxy or any of these other characters. And I will need to learn a lot about Thanos before the next movie. Other than Wiki, is there a good site that discusses a lot of these characters so I get feel for them? Thanks Quote
Spider-Man Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Marvel.com has it's own wiki which is pretty good Quote

Thanks For general comic info, I read http://www.comicsalliance.com and http://www.comicbookresources.com, which are fairly mature, intelligent sites about comics. But what you need is likely something more nerdy and detailed, so a site like http://www.comicvine.com might be good for you: a comic community of obsessives. Here is links to the Thanos bio-page, with links inside to forum posts and articles on him: http://www.comicvine.com/thanos/29-7607/ Quote
purpleparadox Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 def, is that Captain America I see in your picture? Is he one of the Guardians of the Galaxy? Quote
def Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 def, is that Captain America I see in your picture? Is he one of the Guardians of the Galaxy? Not quite. The original Guardians (1970's~1990's) were set in the 31st century, and were mostly genetic off-shoots of humanity that had colonized the other planets in our solar-system The guy with the shield is Vance Astro, a friend of Captain America who travelled to that time, and carried his shield to honor him or something (That's the gist of it; I just read these comics once 20 years ago). The title was used again in the 00's, but it was a completely different team, and takes place in current time (and had Thanos appear). This is the team that will be in the movie. If people are looking for good Thanos stories, the suggested one is the Infinity Gauntlet. There are Thanos stories from the 70's, then he was missing in the 80's, and came back big in the 90's. But some of the stories aren't so great. From what I remember, the Infinity Gauntlet was the most successful one. Plus, the "gauntlet" made a brief appearance in Thor, suggesting that at least one of the movies will deal with that book and/or its ideas. Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 If anyone was a little information about the Infinity Gauntlet on the MARVEL Cinematic universe, you can see it for a second in Thor's movie Quote
Sam892 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I know its not news or anything of the sort, but I saw this online and found it pretty funny. Quote
______ Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 I saw that video the other day! It's so good. Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Some of the new characters from the SHIELD series have been confirmed. They are: -Skye -Agent Grant Ward -Agent Althea Rice -Agent Leo Fitz -Agent Jemma Simmons This were confirmed by casting Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Sorry to doublepost but it was confirmed at Comic-Con that Agent Coulson will be in the S.H.I.E.L.D series Quote
Sam892 Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Sorry to doublepost but it was confirmed at Comic-Con that Agent Coulson will be in the S.H.I.E.L.D series Hmm I wonder in flashbacks or bring him back from the dead. They could always do what they do in the comics and say it was a life model decoy that was killed. Quote

They could always do what they do in the comics and say it was a life model decoy that was killed. Imo, it'll probably be flashbacks or just entire scenes based somewhere between Phase One and Avengers. Back from the dead should probably wait a couple films, or at least until the end of Iron Man 3. Quote
Praiter Yed Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Sounds like he's the star of the show so I think it will be more than 'flashbacks'. Kind of makes sense for this to be set pre-Avengers then the need to include 'super-heroes' is reduced, but who knows? Quote
Sam892 Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Not sure if this is true or whether it will happen but the producer at 20th Century Fox ( Lauren Shuler Donne ) who produced all of the X-men films, said she is trying to get the X-men in the cinematic universe. Also it was reported a while ago that Marvel is hiring writers to produce low budget films about Dr Strange, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Dazzler, Black Panther, Cable, Power pack, Ka-Zar and Vision. Looks like the Cinematic Universe has lots of potential after Phase 3! Quote
Spider-Man Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Wow that is a lot of new movies, even if they are low budget! That is some really exciting news Quote
LMB10 Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Ant-Man has a release date, November 6th, 2015. Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I can't believe we'll have to wait 3 years for the movie, I was so excited about it. Quote
Sam892 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Wait is ant-man after the second Avengers film then? Isn't the Avengers 2 date may 2015. Quote

I feel there is a risk of over-saturating the film audience viewership and might lead to 'viewer fatigue'. I'm ok with sticking to the big names (Thor, Cap, Iron Man) and probably just pick only a couple of those heroes like Black Panther and Dr. Strange and just have the other less known characters appear as 'guests' in the more mainstream movies. I agree about over-saturating the series but I think it wouldn't be bad if they didn't get individual films. If they gavee them a team up story like Heroes for hire or maybe even a New Avengers film it could be ok. Hopefully the TV series will have a lot of lesser known superhero cameos, much like Smallville did with some JLA members. Quote
Spider-Man Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 If all the films are just low budget, straight to DVD movies I like the idea! Imagine all those characters we would never get to see if they weren't doing small budget films about them! Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I would be really happy to see an Iron Fist movie Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 If all the films are just low budget, straight to DVD movies I like the idea! Imagine all those characters we would never get to see if they weren't doing small budget films about them! That could be one way of doing it, though has any Marvel superhero-based movie done that 'straight-to-DVD' route?Still the best (and proven) way of introducing supporting characters is through cameos/supporting roles in 'Big-name Superhero' movies like in the previous cases of Black Widow in Iron Man 2, Hawkeye in Thor, and Nick Fury in all the individual Avengers movies, with all three chracaters landing their way in The Avengers. For the other possible Avengers, this is how I see them appearing in the cinematic universe (and hopefully in the Avengers sequels eventually): Ant-Man (Pym) (confirmed release 2015) - appearance by Wasp (van Dyne) = both probable in Avengers 2 Black Panther - can warrant its own movie = probable appearence in Avengers 3? Vision - appearance in an Ant-Man sequel? (Ultron-Vision storyline) = probable appearence in Avengers 3? Captain Mar-Vell + Ms. Marvel - important Avengers characters in a possible Kree-Skrull War storyline in a future Avengers movie. They could also make a surprise appearance when the Avengers take on Thanos (the current team aren't enough - they need help with cosmic-powered heroes) Iron Fist, Luke Cage, etc. - a possible New Avengers movie with Spidey? Wolvey? (probably a looong time from now) Those are just hunches (and personal wishes), and like any Marvel fan I wish to see them eventually make their way in the cinematic universe, though not in the expense of 'rushing' their production that it would be done in bad taste.
