So that's what 5 villians now? Rhino, Electro, Black cat, Venom and Goblin. Can't help but think their gearing up for the Sinister Six.

Personally I hope they set up Venom and Goblin for future Films.

In other news lots of sites are saying that Iron man 3 might be RDJ's last time as Stark. IMO Marvel need to throw as much money as possible towards keeping him as Stark for future films.

I've been thinking Sinister Six as well however Black Cat is not really a villain per-say, Venom only joined the Six for a brief stint, and is it even possible to have a Sinister Six without Doc Ock? Then again accuracy has never been a major issue when making superhero movies so I guess we wait and see :classic:

I'm also in the corner for Garfield over McGuire for Parker, but I think it is still to early to say that ASM is better than the Raimi films. I do like what I am seeing so far though :sweet:

ASM was leaps and bounds better than the first remi spider man, which, at the time, i liked.... As far as comparing the body of work of remi with ASM, that can't happen till we see more.

Exactly :classic: I fully expect ASM to eventually blow Raimi's movies out of the water!

I also enjoyed ASM more than the previous films, I even enjoyed the suit. It made sense to me that his first suit looked like a prototype.

The only part I didn't like was the look of the Lizard.

I'm probably hugely outspoken on this but I think Spider-Man 2 was the probably the best out of all the films. Other than the fact the story and the villains were far superior than in ASM I sort of prefer Tobey Maguire to Garfield. The movies are probably too different to compare them directly but still.

SM2 was very good, I agree but, as you say, you cannot compare, mainly because it was a sequel. It is always hard to compare originals to sequels, but for super hero movie even more so because originals must include the origin story which makes life more difficult for the writers. You get less time to develop the whole story because you have to spend the first 30-45 minutes on origin. We will have a better comparison between the remi films and ASM when we get to see ASM2... obviously...

Am I the only one Hoping the name changes from the Amazing Spider-man 2? I'm hoping its called the spectacular Spider-man or the Ultimate Spider-man. It would be a great nod to the comics.

dude... that idea is AWESOME!!!!

I don't really see why that would be a better nod to the comics? "Amazing" is already a nod to the longest ran Spider-Man title. Plus having the Ultimate Spider-Man TV show I can't see them using that for a movie anytime soon.

They still tend to do origin movies, since they suppose people will not understand them if they don't, but it's not a rule. Amazing Spider-Man and Batman Begins would have been much better without the origin.

Hope isn't the word I'd use, but I agree Spectacular Spider-Man would be a better name for the second instalment. Start to treat Spider-Man the way James Bond movies are, and not insist everything is a trilogy.

I agree... no more origin stories for bats or spidy we all know what happened...

I can understand the desire to get rid of the origin stories (they bore me to death unless it's one I've never heard of or seen before), but not everyone does know what happened. Sure, we know, but there is no guarantee that the target audience know. That is the only reason they have to be there, regardless of how dull they are.

The reason I liked ASM better was because in the first Spider man movie I swear

Toby McGuire only said like five lines, it was painfully to watch, he over did the shy geek effect.

agreed. AG is so much more believable as PP, he's a geek but he isn't a push over, he'll stand up for what's right even if he might get hurt in the process. TM's PP had no back bone till he became spider man

Paul Rudd is rumored to be the front runner for Hank Pym (Ant Man). I haven't read many Ant Man comics, but I know he has a (slightly less than) Stark leveled intelligence and I only know Rudd from comedies so I'm not sure about this one...

Ant Man is a bit of a quirky guy, not as cool as stark... I can sort of see Rudd fitting that role but if they cast him it'll be a question mark but I think any actor for that role will be until we see the movie... I think it's an okay choice but we'll have to wait and see

I think he'd be great. He's a really charming, likeable guy. Pym has had his up and down moments, but he was at his best when he wasn't tormented, and was likeable without being a playboy. It's hard to compare him to Stark. Stark is a mechanical genius, while Pym is more of a general science guy.

On top of that, Edgar Wright has a great sense of humour, if you've seen any of his films. I think he could work well with Rudd (who's pretty good at improv) in making it a looser, less predictable action movie. Sounds great, actually. Marvel studios are really bold and interesting these days, after that Guardians announcement of Chris Pratt as Starlord. I like it. Warner Brothers must be bashing their heads against the wall every time Marvel announces it locks up an interesting actor that will be ineligible for the inevitable Justice League movie.

Comparing the brainiacs of the Marvel universe is pretty hard. In some of the new issues of Hulk, Bruce Banner taunts Stark that Stark is only good at improving things, and has no idea how to think outside of the box, as Banner does. Of course, none of them are as innovative as Mr. Fantastic. In the world of genetics, Hank McCoy is the most knowledgeable. I'm sure someone on the Internet has created a chart of it somewhere explaining who knows what...

Thanks for the breakdown def  It sounds like Rudd will work well in Wright's style which, in my opinion, is as important as anything when making a movie.

I also agree that DC has to be furious over this. Marvel has really stepped up their game in the casting category (so I guess my initial apprehensiveness of Rudd was unwarranted).

As for Marvel genius's I think we can both agree that Peter Parker is more than likely at the top of that list  In all seriousness though it would be really interesting to see a comprehensive ranking of the geniuses.

Edit: One more day until the new Iron Man 3 trailer! :excited:

Singer just confirmed on Twitter that Halle Berry is returning as storm in Days of Future Past. Signer also hinted that Nightcrawler will return aswell in a recent interview.

The rumour going round the Internet at the moment is that the new film will retcon last stand.

True, although I wouldn't call the JL movie inevitable. It is said that it depends on the success of Man of Steel whether it will get made or not, and I can see the turnout of that movie going either way to be honest. :sceptic:

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Reed Richards is the smartest of them all as he seems to be a master of all kinds of science. The others are just brilliant in their own fields. And Banner has a point, but that's why we love Tony. He's not perfect, but he makes the best out of what he is.

Is there a set time it's suppose to be released at? Just curious since I have really early class tomorrow and need to consider if staying up past midnight is worth it or not

Yes, note the timer on the right of the website I linked to. As of this post, it will be released in 14 hrs and 40 mins, so at 9:00am where I live (GMT-8). So I guess you'll have to watch it after class.
