I'm pleased that Thor moves around a bit. Theirs too many Marvel Films were New York based. Plus I'm glad they picked London, maybe a Captain Britain cameo? It looked good but I'm still waiting for more before I'm totally hyped.

I'm generally not keen on Thor and probably won't see this at the cinema. I'm hoping that this is the end of the Loki story arc as well as to set up a new villain(s) for Avengers 2, which is gonna' be packed unless someone leaves etc. as I believe that Spiderman will join the team at some point.

On a side note, I have a reason for my Thor hate. He's always seemed a little too powerful, sort of like Superman in a way. I'd rather he had the powers of a Thor (ie. strength and the hammer) rather than actually being one.

Not bad. At the very least, it looks like they will make up for the lack of action in the first movie, and the bit with Loki is intriguing, so I'm curious to see where this goes.

True. I think that's one of the reasons why him and Hulk were kept out of the last season of A:EMH so much, because it's usually too easy for the Avengers when those two are around. But I think a guy with the powers of Thor rather than the god himself is kinda what they are going for in the MCU. In the movies, he's just an alien who happens to be fairly strong and wield a magic hammer. Sure, he flies around and beats up bad guys and even goes toe to toe with the Hulk, but he never does any of the epic feats that he does in the comics and cartoons. That's how I like to see it anyway.

Yeah, I can sort of see the direction behind the movies but I'm just not keen on them mixing reality with extra-terrestrials. I would prefer if they didn't use anything that could change how people live such as revealing there are gods or that there are aliens.

Did you see Avengers? I suppose you'll be passing on Guardians of the Galaxy, then.

Of course I did, and it was an aspect of the film I really didn't like. What was more stupid was when the anchorman on the news says ''It has been confirmed as an alien invasion'' with minimal reaction.

As for Guardians of the Galaxy, am I right in thinking that it's nearly all sci-fi? If so, that's not so bad. I just don't like when they mix the two.

We're talking comic book movies here. Forget the Gods and Aliens, they routinely miss the little things that would drastically change the world.

- Tony Stark invented a palm sized fusion reactor. He built it from second hand missiles. It generates enough power to run at a minimum a city block. It is capable of supporting easily controlled tight maneuvering man portable flight. Just think about it.

- Tony Stark also invented perfect prosthetics. Neuro responsive exo suits and hardware. Just think of the things possible with that?

- Peter Parker while a teenager invented an aerosolized super elastic fabric. The industrialized uses for which area staggering. (And honestly this has always been the point where the whole poor starving Peter Parker from the movies and comics fals apart completely. The Amazing thing about Spider-Man wasn't Spider-Man, it was the web fluid. The patent of which would have made ol' Peter a billionaire on par with Bruce Wayne.)

- Reed Richards, the worlds most brilliant man, who generates technologies daily that could feed and cloth the world. One of his earliest inventions of "unstable molecule fabric" if publicly marketed would have endless possibilities. Fireproof fire fighters. Bullet proof police and soldiers. Clothes that never wear out. Perfect shoes. This is before we get into the anti gravity cars, rooftop launched BALISTIC planes, and super medical imaging devices.

- Captain America is walking around with a cast off slug of metal that can absorb or deflect kinetic energy and not pass it through to the other side. Forget the obvious military uses for this, just think on it from a small scale engineering point of view. What would such a material do if used in things like engines or generators? How about buildings? Medical uses?

And this is just the small minor stuff. Forget the Gods Aliens and Mutants. The real absurdity here comes in in the tech and super science, and it always has.

Well, they did have contact with aliens before in Thor. That in addition to all the super-science going on in their world must have taken some of the surprise of an alien invasion away. After all, SHIELD was already expecting one, so I guess the civilians were kinda too.

SNIP

Yup, superheroes are egoistical jerks. Always keeping the best tech for themselves. I should make a funny about that...

I thought Loki was imprisoned in Asgard. So that was probably just some dude in Asgardian Armor. We have seen pics of the movie Ant Man suit, and it would stand out. It looks a bit like a snug fitting flight suit in black and red. The markings are almost dead on for the Scott Lang costume during the Avengers period. The Helmet is a greeblied up version of the classic Hank Pym one, but in a dark gunmetal color.

Guardians of the Galaxy is pretty much old school space opera. If they follow the initial modern books, it will probably be a sort of "Dirty Dozen in Space" thing. In the books there was only a very brief earth related scene of 3 or 4 panels. Otherwise they were well away from the normal earth super heroics. Mainly fighting space wars against Borg like cyborgs, swarms of Zerg like insects, the Xmens old foes the Shi'ar, etc. if done right in tone it should come off as somewhere between the aforementioned Dirty Dozen with a healthy dose of the Star Wars Cantina and Firefly type feel.

The only thing that worries me about it is the announcement that someone has been cast to play Yando (sp?), who s one of the old 70's-80's era Guardians, and not from the modern incarnation. That's troubling because it implies a time travel story, and those rarely if ever turn out good.

I ownsome GotG comics but have never bothered to read them.

We're all better off knowing that. Thanks! :sweet:

In other news, Singer announced two more X-Men for the next film: Bishop and Warpath. I pretty much hate Bishop. He's a nonsensical character, with vague, 90's-style powers. And became famous for having a mullet. He kind of sucks. That said, he makes sense for the film, since he's a future guy, and it'll likely be a small part. The second announcement was Warpath, one of my favorite 'new' X-Men. He's the brother of Thunderbird, one of the original Giant Size X-Men crew, and plays like a much more grounded Wolverine: heightened senses, enhanced physical, but none of the ridiculous backstory. He's a cool character, but unfortunately, like Bishop, will likely have a small part.

The Wolverine is still looking terrible to me, and really, I don't even want to illegally download it to watch it at this point, but this next X-Film just sounds interesting.
