Leo604 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 New TWS poster: Apparently the first teaser trailer is coming out 2 days from now, so keep an eye out for that. Quote
Piranha Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 The Helicarrier will appear in it? Another missed chance for that set, it is looking like TLG only has 1 small WS set planned. Quote
Mr Breden Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 That poster made me more excited for the Movie for some reason. The Helicarrier will appear in it? Another missed chance for that set, it is looking like TLG only has 1 small WS set planned. D2C maybe... Quote
kermit Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 If the helicarrier is in the movie it means nick furry will appear. It seems that this movie out of the all the phase 3 movies will be more tied into the next avengers movie. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 If the helicarrier is in the movie it means nick furry will appear. It seems that this movie out of the all the phase 3 movies will be more tied into the next avengers movie. Captain America is just more obviously tied to SHIELD than any of the others in the MCU. All of the other characters have their own people to go to, but Capn is a fish out of water and doesn't have a home. It just makes sense for SHIELD to be in the movie. Plus, Robert Redford is playing some high-up SHIELD person and the movie is supposed to be a political spy thriller. I don't think it will necessarily be tied into the next Avengers, but we'll see.Personally, I quite like that it's got more crossovers going on than did IM3. It'll be nice to see that building the universe has actually meant something going forward. The way IM3 tried to deal with what had come before bothered me immensely. Tony's little 'fits' were horribly done and pretty much completely out of character, and there was no reason why he couldn't call some friends for help, or at least go to Bruce Banner instead of middle-of-nowhere-annoying-kid-land. The post-credits scene with Banner was my favorite thing in the movie (and one of the best things in the Avengers, to boot). I have a lot of hope that Winter Soldier will handle this much better (and at least Thor doesn't need to handle it, since Thor has his own fantasy land going on). Quote
Masked Builder Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Teaser trailer tomorrow too. Can't wait! Though a straight haired Widow looks odd... Quote
Tanma Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Teaser trailer tomorrow too. Can't wait! Though a straight haired Widow looks odd... Yeah, is it a running gag that her hair changes each movie? Anyone catch Tuesday's SHIELD. There were some parts I thought were questionable about characterization, but other than that I liked it. Glad to also see some recurring villains too, there was a part of me that worried that plotline would have been left open ended. Quote

Though I'd like to see someone with powers back for mutiple episodes... Don't have iTunes, hopefully the trailer is up on Youtube soon... Quote
Tanma Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Agreed, it would have been nice to have some recurring superhumans, though at least it is only episode five. We are probably going to see Franklin Hall again, given his status as a character in the comics and his post credits scene. Quote
Masked Builder Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I didn't think it was possible for anything to be better than the first Captain America movie. But this one might do it. Boy it looks good! Quote
Mr Breden Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) That trailer was pretty good the most interesting part was probably the hangar full of Helicarriers, and I really like Black Widow so it's good to see her in the movie. Edited October 24, 2013 by Mr Breden Quote
Tanma Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Was that Repulser technology? Looks like either Tony is back in the arms dealing business, or he forgot to clean up after the final battle in Iron Man 3. Quote

Tanma Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I think it is used by a Helicarrier which seems to be close to the ground. It does seem to be hovering by a blue energy. Quote
SteampunkDoc Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 OK, not really that impressed. #1, Why is Black Widow in this so much, and why is she trying to hook Cap up with a girl? #2, Why is Caps shield now color-less, and why is he out of uniform so much? #3, Are we supposed to like Shield, or hate it? #4, Why the generic rock music? Could they not find anything better? And now spoilers OK, so it seems like Winter Soldier is starting riots/protests, and is generally disturbing the peace. Shield on the other hand is doing all it can to basically lead a military take-over of the world and stop any such protests in their tracks. Cap is caught in the middle fighting both, trying to adjust to this crazy life, and trying to avoid Widow's matchmaking. Cap gets a new buddy with guns and wings, but one that's a fairly minor character. And why keep Black Widow around so much? Just, why? The little role she gets int he trailer doesn't sound or think like her, and I didn't care for her character in any of the movies. So, I thought Iron Man 3 sorta messed up the MCU world by introducing nigh-invincible Extermis guys, but now Shield is mass producing star destroyers Helicarriers, and trying to take over the world in the name of the Galactic Empire peace. Ya'll remember the key word from my Iron man 3 review? It was 'Escalation'. Marvel is trying to go too big too soon, and there are two consequences to that. First, there's no going back, no scaling back down. Topping each story this much this fast will ruin the franchise quickly. Secondly, it's getting too much spectical, not enough substance. Some nut thought, 'Hey, the viewers liked Helicarriers, so lets give them a hundred!' And everybody else just nodded their heads instead of thinking things through. The 'Making bigger weapons' plot made some sense in Avengers, but all that for (apparently) just Earth problems? Where do they get the money, the supplies, the men? I'm thinking they should have slowed down on this, taken things a bit easier, and made a personal tale with Cap adjusting to normal 21st Century life, and then combating Winter soldier in a more personal one-on-one basis. Not go into a bunch of politics and extravaganza, but make it a bit smaller and closer. Instead this looks....Bleh. Ok, I'll calm down now, but I will finish with this. Thank you Marvel for Thor 2. It looks like a much better sequel IMHO. Of course, I haven't seen either one yet, but my money is on The Dark World being the better of the two. Winter Solder just smells too much like that Iron Man 3 formula of 'flash-bang' smoke and mirrors that end up blowing up in everyones faces. [/Rantover, for now.] Anyway, feel free to rip this apart, just like Iron Man 3, I'd like to love the movie. It just doesn't look that great right now. Quote
Tanma Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Personally I am more interested in Winter Soldier than Dark World, it looks more interesting to me. And the Dark Word had many last minute changes to it, which could damage the quality. Quote

Have you read the Winter Solider story line in the comics? What I got from this trailer is that someone is using the WS to assassinate high profile targets, one of them possibly being Nick Fury. I also think that the protests are actually just the publics reactions to SHIELD increasing the amount of helicarriers and it's military control on the world. This also being SHIELDs relation to the invasion of New York. Black widows involvement to me makes sense, she's an Avenger, an agent of SHIELD loyal to Fury ( who I think the guy at the start of the trailer is trying to kill ) and used to be a Russian spy. That last part is very important as in the Comics her and the WS knew each other before she switched sides. Lastly I also think that Cap is out of his outfit in the trailer for a couple of reasons, first off I think he's on the run, also I think that WS is attacking him when he leads expects it. Also I think the reason his new outfit contains no red is because he now works for SHIELD, who are an international organization and not American. That's also most likely why his shield is also faded with no red. However he also wears his WWII suit in the trailer so I'm guessing he can't go back to the Helicarrier to get his Avengers suit and has left Shield so, he breaks into a museum to get his old costume. This representing him choosing freedom instead of what is coming across as a takeover. Edited October 24, 2013 by Sam892 Quote
Mr Breden Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Did anyone else notice that: Nick Fury seems to be in hospital at 1:02 Quote
Clone OPatra Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Guys, spoilers for a trailer, really? If people can't handle watching trailers before they see movies, I don't think there will be any reason for them to come into the Marvel Cinematic Universe topic anyway. This trailer looks very bland to me. The scenery is bland, the colors are bland, and the story is bland. I don't think the movie will actually be bland, necessarily, but this trailer sure doesn't get me hyped for it. There were things I liked, though, like Black Widow. I'm really glad she'll play a sizable role in this movie, since she's fun and has a lot of possibilities. I also like that SHIELD is actually in it, even though right now, SHIELD seems rather bland. I'm hoping this was just a lackluster trailer (which often happens), and isn't indicative of the quality of the movie. Quote

I just thought I'd do it for the Nick Fury part since it seemed pretty spoiler-ish to me (Even if it's not certain that it's right), I admit the first spoiler tag I added was pretty pointless though Edited October 24, 2013 by Mr Breden Quote
Piranha Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I think it looks great personally and I can't wait to see it. I had anticipated it to be the best of the phase 2 films. Quote
Oky Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I don't get the hate for this trailer. It looks pretty intriguing to me and I'm much more excited for this film than I am for Thor 2. Although comparing Cap 2 to Thor 2 isn't really fair in my opinion. Making a movie that is better than the first Thor is not exactly a hard feat, whereas First Avenger is a tough act to follow, so saying that Dark World seems to be a better sequel than Winter Soldier is not saying much. I like that this film is taking a more serious tone (with the visuals complimenting this new tone) than the slightly campy previous movie (which wasn't bad, mind you, but it just seems like a logical step forward). It's like how the Harry Potter movies started to look less and less colorful as the tone of the story became more serious. And while I don't like seeing Fury being made to look like a bad guy, I do like that S.H.I.E.L.D. is getting some more flak as they should. I also like how this movie is a lot more connected to the MCU and more based in reality than Thor 2. I think it will show Cap confronting the 21st century plentifully in that he will try to deal with blurred lines between good and evil. And I'm sure he will have a personal fight with the Winter Soldier as well. Oh, and I am happy that we are finally going to see the iconic scene of a crashing Helicarrier. Also, the fact SHIELD seems to be using repulsor tech, along with the whole theme of this movie, seems to confirm the speculations that Phase 2 of the MCU is playing into the Civil War storyline. It would make sense for Tony to start working with SHIELD in this case. Quote
Ceroknight Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I thought the trailer was awesome! Really excited for it! Quote
Leo604 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Spoilers in case people didn't see First Avenger or don't read the comics: I'm a little surprised Marvel didn't at least reference the fact Bucky survived that fall and was brainwashed to be the Winter Soldier; I just assume that's going to be a major plot point.
