Starrocks923 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 It was quite good. I just hope they add metal plates to deathlok to cover up his nasty burn-marked face. I hope the metal plates come later on, not all at once. Maybe even a "More Cyborg, less human" thing... Wow, that was amazing. I thought the Clairvoyant might be in that tank, but when it was Peterson, everything literally snapped into place. That Cybertek technology looks fantastic and I wonder why they didn't use it with the other Centipede soldiers. And man, that episode was brutal. The scene with Simmons getting "shot" was a jump, but the blue toxin was fishy from the start. May and Ward got bloody, and Skye...that was painful to watch. I won't spoil it, but next episode will be...interesting. Quote
Tanma Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Another better episode of Agents of Shield today. Deathlok was pretty sick, and the animation with him was pretty impressive. Kind of interested in where Skye's thing is going. Agreed, this might be my favorite episode so far. Hopefully the special effects for Deathlok aren't too expensive to prevent him from recurring often. Quote
Darth Lurtz Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I know one member that might be excited about this casting news: http://screenrant.com/ant-man-marvel-evangeline-lilly-cast/ Quote
The Legonater Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 That's actually a really good idea, I thought she did pretty well in the Hobbit, and would be a great Wasp. Quote
SandMirror38 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 OH MY GOSH! YEEESSSS!!!!!!!! *runs around the room* WOOOO Quote
Ultron Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 This is why I love marvel! They have great casting! I really hope she turns out to be the wasp! She's a lovely actress and a treat to watch on screen. Quote
Tanma Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Yes, give Wasp to me. I need this Marvel, I need this. I am actually okay with the Wasp being Hank's daughter, just as long as her powers and personality are intact. But yeah, this day is already better than my last one. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Man, Marvel's casting is out of this world. Evangeline hadn't even occurred to me as a good candidate to play Jan, but she'd be perfect. Make it happen, Marvel! Quote
Mr Man Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I thought she did pretty well in the Hobbit Well except for the accent (English or Elvish ). Quote
Ultron Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Paul Bettany (Who currently plays Jarvis) will be playing The Vision in Avengers 2. YESS! The vision is my favorite avenger!! I really wanted zachary quinto to play him but I'm fine with this because we get to see the vision. I might cry right now I'm so happy. The vision and ultron is just a dream come true Bless you, Joss Whedon. Bless you. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Wow. This news about The Vision being in Age of Ultron has certainly come out of nowhere. It's great news of course, though I do think that Avengers 2 is going to be very busy with all the characters currently involved. As ever with Marvel, the casting is excellent. Bring on AoU! Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Could this casting news add more stock to the theory that Jarvis becomes Ultron? Ultron would naturally give Vision a version of the Jarvis voice, so the Bettany casting fits perfectly. Quote
BrickG Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) At this point I'd bet that Avengers 2 won't be as good as 1. Too many characters. They're going to X-Men 3 it (Days of Future Past is too). Edited February 7, 2014 by BrickG Quote

Mr Man Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Way too early to speculate that. Plus Fox has ruined the cinematic X-men in general. Really? Good: X-1, X-2, First Class, The Wolverine Bad: X-3, O:Wolverine. Quote

I doubt it. If anyone can pull it off it's Whedon. I think he deserves our trust. Plus Ultron is the villain so I doubt avengers 1 can be better unless they completely screw him up. Quote
The Legonater Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 This is admittedly a lot better than Coulson as Vision. I'm excited to see how this works out. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Very, very excited about this casting!! :-) Quote
Faefrost Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 An interesting real world story to keep an eye on. Sony today revealed a $1.1 Billion loss for last year and announced 5000 layoffs. A lot of their board and their investors have been urging them to split apart the entertainment business and the electronics one. Sony has already sold the Spider-Man movie merchandising back to Marvel. What are the odds Marvel might come in and make them an offer to good to refuse on returning it all to them? Quote
Faefrost Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) Oh and one more less than thrilling bit of Marvel news from over in the madhouse that is Fox's Fantastic Four production. Apparently Dr. Doom might be (drum roll please)... A woman! /sigh Because nobody is making money off comic properties by sticking closely to the look feel and soul of the source materials. You only bring in the viewers if you abandon story, design, tradition etc and just try and make everything as edgy as possible. Case in point. Race swapping the Human Torch. Now normally I have no problem with mixing up the skin color of Super Heroes, so long as it can be done without messing or completely altering the actual source stories and changing the character. It can work well for some, case in point Spider-Man would have no problems being cast as black or Latino. In fact it works very very well into his story and setting. Whereas Captain America, given the whole WW2 and man out of time aspects of his character does not really work well as anything other than the whitest white boy. At least not without creating an entirely new character and story that is not what we would be paying to see. And this brings us back to the Human Torch and Dr. Doom. In the comics, the classic Johnny Storm is not simply a white character. He is a literal caricature of a white character. He is the embodiment of that clueless white frat boy oblivious stupidity, carelessness and irresponsibility. That "White Priviledge" if you will. He is like Justin Bieber. It works as a gag and caricature but when you race swap it becomes a caricature of something else. Suddenly Johnny Storm is a "playa", and the racially progressive casting starts to take on a rather insensitive or downright insulting context. If they were to race swap anyone in the FF, the absolute best would be Reed Richards, Mr. Fantastic. He carries no baggage other than being a super genius nerd and husband to Sue. (The Thing could work but would raise outrage for replacing one of the few openly and identifiably Jewish characters in comics.) And then we have Doom as a female. Dear gods why? The entire center of Dooms character is a brilliant mind bundled to a very male centric sense of personal arrogance and self import. Dooms failings are supposed to be very male failings. Once again almost a caricature of such. Trading that for "hot chick in armor" seems more an attempt at spectacle and not in any way attempting to make use of the actual classic underlying character. Anyway just my long winded 2c. Edited February 8, 2014 by Faefrost Quote

I agree Reed could work as black..I'm really not looking forward to this reboot at all. They're going to jack it up. An interesting real world story to keep an eye on. I hope another reboot isn't on the cards. TAS would work brilliantly as part of the MCU. there are not real contradictions (like between the MCU and X-Men / FF universe). Edit 1: Has Ghost Rider already reverted? Edit 2: Also isn't Namor now the only Marvel property not owned by Marvel or Fox? (It's owned by Universal I believe). Edit 3: Doesn't Universal also own Hulk? If so how can he be part of the MCU? Edit 4: Who owns Punisher? Edited February 8, 2014 by Mr Man Quote

Agreed, the giant cranes could be explained as doing repairs after the Battle of New York. And it won't require too much smoothing out, since superheroes are only just starting to appear in Earth-199999 too. Not to mention the MCU could benefit from having at least one hero who doesn't kill. Quote
The Brigante Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Not to mention the MCU could benefit from having at least one hero who doesn't kill. Bit early to say that at the moment, seeing how Peter hasn't really had a chance to make the choice. Also, how easy/difficult would it be for the switcheroo to take place, what with contracts and all? Don't get me wrong, I would have a thousand nerdgasms if he showed up in the MCU, I'm just uncertain as to just how feasible it is. Quote
