Walter Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I think the Fantastic Four would fit in better to the Cinematic Universe. After all some of the cosmic Villians and it would be incredible to see Stark, Banner and Reed Richards bounce of each other with banter and technical talk, not to mention Hank Pymm aswell. If Marvel ever get the rights to the X-men then I think they will sit on them for a while. Maybe wait until they get the rights back to everything and then relaunch the whole lot in a new universe. That's the one thing that DC has over Marvels film Universe they gave all the rights to their films to one company. I'd love it if Marvel could retain the rights to Fantastic Four. A better origin story for the heroes, and especially Dr. Doom, would be awesome. Quote

They make Galactus a giant cloud, saying that the concept of Galactus is too ridiculous any yet they have a silver man fly around on a surf board throughout the movie. Quote

Actually it's Fox who own the rights to the Fantastic Four, but ye those movies were pretty bad. They all had stupid product placement like the Nike sneakers and both had a 30 second nude sue storm scene. One of the few good things in the film was the actor who played Reed Richards. Quote
Praiter Yed Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 I liked the Punisher films as films, but they weren't very 'Marvel', they where more like the Ultimate comics, rather than the classic ones. How about Count Meout, the most nervous Count in Hammer Horrorland. and I just remembered there's the guy from Sesame Street. Back on topic: I didn't think much of the one Punisher film I've seen and to be honest I had to double check that he was Marvel before posting Actually it's Fox who own the rights to the Fantastic Four, but ye those movies were pretty bad. I think another thing they got right on The Fantastic 4 films was that they were rated PG, and the movies probably seem pretty good to kids. Imho more Superhero movies should be PG - it is possible to make good kids films that can also be enjoyed by adults. I took my then 9 year old daughter watching Captain America and that was fine, luckily I didn't take her to see X-Men: First Class, I'm no prude but the one use of the F-word in that movie infuriated me. has a differing opinion Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 A new fantastic four film? I hope not. I loathe the fantastic four. Daredevil could be good, maybe thunderbolts in the near future too. Quote

Ye a lot of Superhero films are getting a dark setting. Which works well for Batman and I also think worked with the new Spider-man, but a lot of franchises just dont fit. I can't imagine a dark gritty reboot of The Fantastic Four but at the same time I can't imagine a child friendly Blade film or Daredevil film. When you look at some of the comics though, when I'm reading them I'm thinking how the hell could someone under 15 read this. Certainly Wolverine is one of those Characters who could work well with a dark gritty even gorey film. Quote

I already knew this. However I also know that the license has around eighteen monthes left before the rights revert back to Marvel, unless of course they decide to extend it or find a loophole. So I think there is a small chance of Marvel welcoming home the Fantastic Four family. Quote

I agree some Super-hero films need to be dark but it seems that they're all going that way - personally I see Spiderman, Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America as ones I should be able to take my kids to watch without any worries. That said, I'd happily let my daughter watch many 12A movies but not if they're going to start throwing in the odd f-bomb. As Sam892 said, they put Sue Storm in the situation where she has to be nude in both movies so I wouldn't say their good for kids either. As I recall even though she's supposed to be nude, she remains covered - otherwise it wouldn't have a PG rating would it? I think if I'd seen Jessica Alba's tits in FF, I'd remember I already knew this. However I also know that the license has around eighteen monthes left before the rights revert back to Marvel, unless of course they decide to extend it or find a loophole. So I think there is a small chance of Marvel welcoming home the Fantastic Four family. I think they're pretty much already on with production of the movie, so it's very doubtful that the rights of FF will revert back to Marvel. The guy who made 'Chronicle' is directing it. Quote

Eighteen months is a long time and Fox already have a writer, producer and maybe a director attached to the new film. All Fox need to do is have a film in production to retain the rights. Marvel have been quite lucky recently with rights, in the past six months they have regained Blade, Punisher and DareDevil. Fox will most likely rush a FF movie through to the filming stages in order to keep the rights, especially after losing DD. I'm starting to think that maybe Marvel should just buy back the larger series like Spider-man and X-men as both Sony and Fox will never let those rights fall back to Marvel. It's not as if they can't afford it as just Avengers made 1.4 billion and it hasn't even been released on DVD yet. Plus all the money from the other films. Then again with all these rights falling back to Marvel already it will be along time before they start making these reboots. Marvel already have there schedual full until 2015. Quote

just2good Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) It's been announced that the release date for the Avengers 2 is May 1, 2015!! That's a bad thing? I was hoping the movie would come in 2016, but 2015 will do. I don't want them to make one every 2 years. Now they're gonna have to cram all this new Cinematic Universe movies into tight release dates (as we have already seen). Edited August 18, 2012 by just2good Quote
