just finished whatching Winter Soldier, great movie! Enjoyed both after credits scenes and was wondering aboyt 3 smaller characters who might end up being big..

Sorry if these are considered spoliers...

1- Rogers personal guards appeared to have very strong connections to Miss.Marvel, see where I'm going?

2-That villan that kept showing up everywhere and ends up alivw but burnt looks to me like perfect villan meterial

3- Sharon, that girl B.Widow want's Cap to date. Continuously shoved in the viewers face makes me think that theres more to Sharon then what appears to be, prehaps future Wasp?

Anyway just me and a couple of my buds 2 cents :)

sidered spoliers....

These might be spoilers to you if you don't wish to know about what happens in the comics considering they will probably happen in the movies so don't read if you don't want that.

1- I don't see where you're going, explain please

2- Brock Rumlow is a very important character in the Captain America comics. He is the villain Crossbones who carries out the assassination of Cap and hypnotizes Agent 13 and gets her to shoot him, which brings me to...

3- She's not Wasp, but she does turn out to be Cap's love interest. She, like I said, accidentally helps assassinate Cap. And then Winter Soldier takes his place on the Avengers.

oooh thanks Luna :)

After some web surfing found out that no 1 and no 3 on my list where the same person >:P

Sharon Carnter, Peggy's Niece.

Interesting stuff you find out AFTER the movie P

I just LOVED that after credits scene in the museum, bit predictable but sent shivers up my spine.

Also interested to see if Winter Soldier will turn up in Avengers 2, that ending made me wanna scream..but not as much as Thor did :)

Again thanks, I'm pretty new to the whole Marvel thing :)

One word: Comics, comics, comics. Find em, read em, wiki the charectors you don't understand and read a lot! That's the best way to get a feel for what's happening and eventually you will be able to predicted what route they take in the movie.

I know it's hard for some to except , but at some point within the next three big movies they will kill Steve and Bucky will take the mantle. So by the time we get to Avengers 3, if they even do that, Buck will be the new captain!

Just a heads up for people who think they were spoiled by Agents of SHIELD, you should still see Winter Soldier. In my opinion it is the best MCU film yet, and I had also been spoiled before watching it. And even if you think you know all the twists from the episode, let's just say Coulson's team doesn't know everything yet...

No prob! Like Brickmaster said, when I'm bored I just look up a bunch of characters and storylines and learn about them and theorize how they could come into play in the MCU. It's fun! (To me at least)

I agree. Although I'd have to call a tie between Avengers and WS. I just can't put it past the movie that fully brought me into the MCU, although WS was fantastic. The credits scene still gives me goosebumps. So excited for Age of Ultron. I wish I could change my username to Ultron that's how much I love him..

Last night of Agents of SHIELD was fantastic! Great action and character stuff. It was interesting to see how the underlings of SHIELD reacted to the events during the Winter Soldier and the fallout. I'm almost positive that this show was specifically created with the movie in mind, because all of this is way too fascinating and the character ties run too deep to be a series of simple tie-in episodes.

I haven't watched Agents of SHIELD at all, but from Captain America: The Winter Soldier and what I have heard about the latest episode of Agents of SHIELD, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the show was created with the sole intent of tying in with CA:TWS and to avoid having to make a movie about the SHIELD agents in the aftermath of CA:TWS. This impression could, of course, be entirely wrong, but it would not be surprising in the slightest.

This. I'm almost a bit annoyed that they spoiled Winter Soldier for anyone who didn't view it early, but there really is no other way around it, and Winter Soldier still has a degree of twists and turns.

There was an interview somewhere that confirmed that Agents of SHIELD was into development before they decided to kill off SHIELD in Winter Soldier. Someone went up to the writers and said what was up and I assume they adjusted their story.

Really? Looks like I've learnt something new today. But I'm not surprised that my knowledge of Agents of SHIELD is inaccurate; this is what I get for not bothering to keep track of it. I wonder how much the story was actually adjusted to fit events in The Winter Soldier though? Obviously what happened changes everything in the MCU, so it's probably safe to say that the changes to the story of AOS were massive.

Some response. Spoilers on who these characters are, and where they come from.

1. I don't see where you are going? If you are thinking of the blonde girl that was his neighbor, she is exactly who she claims to be. Agent 13, Sharon Carter. A major character from the comics, with some loose connections to the Avengers. (She was part of Rogers "Secret Avengers" counter terrorism team and is often partnered with Cap or Black Widow.

http://marvel.wikia.com/Sharon_Carter_(Earth-616)

Ms. marvel would be Carol Danvers a USAF Major and pilot. If anything Agents of Shild may be dancing closer to her than CA:TWS. At this point I don't expect to see her until Avengers 3. Her background involves the Kree. Which starts to tie in with the more space going cosmic stuff that will be center stage in phase 3.

2. Brock Rumbelow is also a known character from the comics. Crossbones, a disciple of the Red Skull and major Cap foe.

http://marvel.wikia.com/Brock_Rumlow_(Earth-616)

3. Sharon Carter is exactly who she says. SHIELD Agent 13. One of Fury's special personal operatives. In the comics she is also Caps most consistent on again off again girlfriend. She is further the niece (or grand niece) of Peggy Carter, from the first Captain America movie. Rumor has it the Wasp has already been cast and will be appearing in the phase 3 Ant Man movie. Reports are she will be played by Evangeline Lily. Tauriel from the Hobbit movies.

And he may be very important to the MCU because...

He kills Captain America during the Civil War event, as others in the topic mentioned. So if Cap is going to die and Bucky is going to take over, Crossbones might be the way they do it.

That second end credits scene confused my wife and a few friends. Here's the deal with it.

The scene was basically the point where we see the Winter Soldier going back to being Bucky. In other words setting up his eventual move from the villains list back over to the heroes.

Many speculate we may see the Death of Captain America story arc in CA3. I'm not so sure. I don't think they would dump the lead role on Sebastion Stan. Kevin Feige has outright said when or if some of their stars choose to leave or retire, such as Robert Downey jr, etc, they are planning on going the "James Bond" route. While Brubaker did as good a job as possible in writing the editorially mandated event story killing Cap, it's still a cheesy crossover marketing news bait event. Not a good story.

And he may be very important to the MCU because...

He kills Captain America during the Civil War event, as others in the topic mentioned. So if Cap is going to die and Bucky is going to take over, Crossbones might be the way they do it.

As I said above. I don't think they would do that unless they also recast the Winter Soldier role. Sebastion Stan was great in this movie. He was fairly un memorable in CA First Avenger. He's good. He did the job he was asked. But I doubt they will use him to front the CA or Avengers franchises.

If Scarlett Johansen gets her Black Widow movie I bet we will see him in it.

No one is claiming Civil War was good. But it still is good to note the elements we have in play in the MCU, so we can predict what could potentially occur next.

Posted

They wouldn't have brought in crossbones (let alone, let him live) and sharon carter AND Winter Soldier and not go the civil war route. Cap is going to die. Winter Soldier will take his place.

Posted

I could see the MCU doing Civil War right, but I think it would be down the road so they can set up more people, and probably take more than one movie. It was a very big event, after all.

Posted

From what I know about this Civil War arc that seems to be brought up a lot on here, we would need a lot more characters in the MCU before such an arc is even remotely viable. As others have said, there are signs that this arc is coming, but it probably won't be for quite a long while yet, maybe not even by 2020. Obviously it depends what happens between now and then and what direction Joss Whedon wants the MCU to take, but this Civil War arc is beginning to seem quite likely. There's no guarantees yet though, so it's not worth getting excited for something which may not even come to fruition. I think I'll wait it out and take things as they come rather than hope blindly for something based on a few occurrences.

I'm sure it will happen eventually, but Cap will probably die before it is made into a movie. Then again, they only have RDJ until Avengers 3 so they'd have to get a different iron man.

I'm pretty sure you're right that they will probably kill off Cap and replace him with Winter Soldier before too long, but where it goes from there. As for RDJ, I would be sad to see him replaced and would struggle to adjust to a different person as Iron Man seeing as RDJ has done such a good job in the role. Saying that, I'm glad that the MCU isn't going to rely on the actors themselves to have the characters still exist in-universe; after all, that drastically increases the longevity of the MCU, which can only be a good thing.

Did you hear about the feedback sheets Disney were handing out at one or two TWS screenings?

The questions weren't really interesting except the one.

'Which of these Films do you want to see most ?'

Avengers age of Ultron

Thor 3

Antman

Captain America 3

Iron man 4

What's interesting to me is all of the other films have been announced and are in production, so is Disney making another Ironman film and let it slip by Accident?

I hope not. I, personally, felt Iron Man 3 ended with a good cap to the Tony Stark arc. Having another one just feels like unnecessary pandering, to me. Like having Wolverine be the star of yet another movie.

Posted

Considering how disappointing the second and third Iron Man films were, I honestly hope that there isn't going to be a fourth Iron Man film. It would be entirely unnecessary anyway; what more can really be done with Iron Man/Tony Stark in terms of character development? Marvel would be much better off introducing a new character, such as Doctor Strange or Black Panther, than making yet another Iron Man film.
