Sam892 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I hope not. I, personally, felt Iron Man 3 ended with a good cap to the Tony Stark arc. Having another one just feels like unnecessary pandering, to me. Like having Wolverine be the star of yet another movie. Well even without another Iron man Film they have to bring Stark back out of retirement, as he's in the Avengers films as Ironman. So either way they are going to go against the ending of the third film. I would mind another ironman film as long as it ties more into the MCU, which I felt Iron man 3 didn't. Plus it would be extremely interesting to see Stark solo in a Post TWS world, would he follow his Dads footsteps and build a new SHIELD or perhaps create another Avengers team ( new Avengers, Secret Avengers.....). I'm guessing that MARVEL feel there might too long a gap between Iron man appearances. It will most likely be around 3 to 4 years between Avengers 2 and 3, and considering he's MARVEL's flagship character currently I can see them wanting him around more. I get the feeling that RDJ will do the film for enough money, and considering the last one made a billion I can't see Ironman 4 not happening. Quote
Ultron Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I wouldn't mind an Iron Man 4, but I'm not necessarily clamoring for one. It would be cool though if he faced the real Mandarin since he's out there. I feel like Phase 3 will have more movies than phase 1 or 2 because right now it's looking like Thor 3, Cap 3, Antman, and maybe GotG 2 (which has been rumored). I think they need a Ms. Marvel movie unless the introduced her in GotG 2, but she should get her own. And then there's also Dr. Strange that they said will appear in Phase 3, whether or not it will be his own movie or not remains to be seen (It's more likely than GotG 2, I think). Plus there's the Black Widow movie they said was being planned or whatever, and who knows when that'll be. They should double the movies for Phase 3 and give us all of these. Quote
Tanma Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I just watched this week's episode(Episode 17) of Agents of Shield. They mentioned that Nick Fury was dead. Is he really dead? Read only if you really want. Early in the film Nick Fury appears to die, sending Cap on his mission. However later in the film we find out he faked his death. The film ends with Nick Fury still being dead, and only about four people knowing he was still alive. So it might never come up in Agents of SHIELD that Nick Fury survived, but he did. Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 (edited) Right, I have no clue to post spoiler tags (I guess you folks are sick of that), if somebody could help It'd be appreciated, don't read further if you don't want to see/read anything that spoils anything. SPOILERS SPOILERS If Loki's staff is the Mind Gem, this leaves: The Teseract - I'm thinking the space gem with the powers it had in Avengers The Aether - The power gem due to the colour That leaves the time, realty and the soul gem, maybe one powers Ultron? Also, leaving the mind gem with Loki sends quite a message from Thanos to him, something like "You fail or betray me, I will find you because I need the gem and I have the power to get it back". Do remember that Ultron hypnotised Jarvis in the comics to be evil, the crimson cowl. Perhaps a play on events is afoot? I'm betting IM4 will be about the armour wars. Do remember Tony was a little unstable after Avengers as shown in IM3, I know he was getting counselling, but if he plays a part in Ultron's creation, and Ultron being the genocidal "kill all humans" he is, I could see Tony loosing it after Avengers 2 and going on a one man war after anyone and everyone with armour so it can't be misused again. Ultron Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 (edited) I don't see how those are spoilers, but okay. I personally am not so sure the orb thing in Loki's staff is the mind gem. Why would Thanos give it to him? Also what would be the point of the tesseract being blue if the staff orb is also a gem? Why would they make them the same color? Ultron won't be powered by a gem, that'd be weird. Iron man clearly has to make Ultron somehow. Ultron has daddy issues and wants to kill his creator. If the Government or some other party made Ultron and sent him to destroy the Avengers or something it just wouldn't make sense. Unless someone made him based on a recovered iron man suit or something and when Ultron becomes sentient he realizes the armor is made by iron man and wants to destroy him. That might make sense I suppose....but Iron Man directly making him would be a closer to the comics adaptation, by just replacing Hank with Tony. I'm also not sure Ultron will have hypnosis powers, Whedon said they were scaling down his powers because he has so many. Plus we've already seen mind control in the first one and I'm sure we'll already see it with Scarlet Witch and QuickSilver probably being controlled by Loki's staff. It'd just be overkill if Ultron used it as well. He won't really need it either, he's probably going to have a robot army that will do as he says. Yeah, Iron Man is probably going to be suicidal after Ultron and possibly his army try and destroy humanity most likely because of him. Edited April 12, 2014 by Luna Lovegood Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 SPOILERS Sorry about that, let me clarify a bit. My guess would be that Thanos needed the Tesseract or something else as well on Earth, hence he gave Loki the staff and the Chitari. You heard Loki about Thanos, he knows that if he did a runner then he would be hunted down by either him or one of lackeys like Nebula, sure it would be a risk giving Loki, god of lies, a staff that you need, but if you need something else equally or more than it and you have the power and the ability to get it back, well, knowing Thanos, I'm sure he would see it as a good gamble. Look at where Loki is now. On Asgard, pretending to be Odin, possibly one of the most heavily fortified places in the universe after the events of TDW. If I failed Thanos I'd hide among Asgardian's, I can tell you that. The other possibility is that it's not the Mind gem, but is in fact a gem bestowed with a small fraction of the power or is even a fragment of it as it's so small looking at the space and power gems. After all we know the Gems can be fractured as seen in Agents Of Shield. What I meant was that the base program of Ultron could "corrupt" JARVIS the computer program like a virus and take over an Iron Man armour, hence emulating in a strange way how Ultron turned Jarvis the Butler evil for a short time. Maybe Hank finds the Iron Man armour, sees it as a big opportunity, messes up when he turns it into a killer robot, then doesn't say anything, hence Hank could still be Ultron's "Daddy" and Tony could still be messed up, because he could think it was still him, still causing him to brake down and loose it. It'd make good character conflict as well when Tony finds out. Quote

I don't recall that happening :o Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 A fracture of the Tesseract was found powering a Hydra machine/bomb they recovered from a temple or something in one of the first episodes. Been awhile, but I do remember it because I thought it'd be relevant later, after all, how do you break a cosmic cube? Quote
Im a brickmaster. Tanma Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 On the hydra weapon it was not a fragment of the Tesseract, rather it was technology powered by energy from the Tesseract. In much the same way the Kursed are powered by energy from the Aether. I am a little annoyed that AoS seems to not be using the traditional time travel rules of Marvel, where every journey back in time creates a new universe instead of changing the past. I know not every time travel story in Marvel uses that rule, but it is my favorite type of time travel. It's just the weapon was known about by Camila, and it was found in the past, so unless she was lying about how she knew about it they are using a different sort of time travel. Quote

Have you time travelled from AoS series 5 or something? Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 SPOILERS Thanks about the correction, but it does prove that energy can be transferred or used for something else from the gems in the MCU. Perhaps that's how the glove in Odin's trophy room is used, drain the energy from all six into the glove and that becomes the infinity gauntlet. Quote
Tanma Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 (edited) Wait, how do we know they're not? There hasn't been any time traveling in the MCU yet Hu!? Have you time travelled from AoS series 5 or something? Its fine, I forgot this detail too. According to the Marvel wiki The 0-8-4 was the name given by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to the Tesseract-powered weapon discovered in Peru in 2012. ThisTesseract-powered piece of technology was developed by a group of former Hydra scientists after World War II. It was made for the Peruvian government who wanted to use it against the rebels, but the weapon was temporally unstable, and it simply disappeared during the fight. The weapon traveled back in time, ending up at the same place but in the year 500 AD. Partially stuck in one great stone, the weapon was discovered 1,000 years later by the Incas, who built a temple around the stone. It was in Episode 2 for reference. Also, yes that 2012 for the year is correct. As of Cap 2 the MCU is up to the year 2013. I can explain if necessary. Edited April 13, 2014 by Tanma Quote
SandMirror38 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 2013? The MCU is a year behind? Hmm, never knew Quote
Tanma Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Yeah, here is the reasoning. Iron Man 2 features the 2010 Stark Expo, placing that movie firmly at 2010. Given the scenes with Coulson and the post credit scene of that movie, we know Thor's hammer was found during that time, so Thor takes place in 2010 too. Now in Avengers it is mentioned by Fury that a year ago they were visited by Thor, so it takes place in 2011. The next movie is Iron Man 3, which we know takes place in December, given the many references to Christmas. Now Thor 2 comes next, and Jane states when she first meets Thor again that she originally met him two years ago. So Thor 2 takes place in 2012, and Iron Man 3 takes place at the end of the year before. Now in Cap 2 it is mentioned (at least in official descriptions) that Avengers happened two years ago. And since Avengers was 2011, Cap 2 is 2013. You can also figure out some of the placements of Agents of SHIELD episodes based off that. For instance, since the Pilot features Extremis, it must take place after Iron Man 3, and probably takes place in 2012. Likewise all the other early episodes have to take place in 2012, up until the first Thor 2 tie-in episode, the one with the Bezerker Staff. So episode 1 through eight have to take place in 2012. After that we can't be sure whether episodes take place in 2012 or 2013, at least based off my charts. However, we do know that the last arc of this season of Agents of SHIELD takes place at the same time of Cap 2. So Episode 16, 17, and so on take place in 2013. Basically the episodes I haven't mapped are episode 9 through 15. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 I feel somewhat foolish for not noticing that the MCU is a year behind reality, although I was probably unaware of it due to it being relatively unimportant in terms of understanding events in the MCU. It should be considered that the year when the films are set is possibly intended to match the time during which the movie was in filming; for example, Age of Ultron is in filming now and will probably be set in 2014 when it is released next year. Tanma Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Don't worry, I'm just obsessive, and I need to know the timescale for my fan fictions. Not the trash ones in my signature, my revised and improved ones are still unreleased. Quote

The Legonater Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Is there any confirmation of that at all? Last I checked, with Phase 2 especially everything was pretty up to date. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 ^ Frankly, anything to do with the time during which each film of the MCU takes place is very difficult to truly confirm; anything related to it is pure speculation, though there is seemingly solid reasoning behind said speculation. In any case, it's not as if the timing makes too much of a difference anyway (for the most part at least). Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Update for everyone regarding Agents Of Shield. In addition to this, Maria Hill has been confirmed to be appearing in an episode at some point, suggesting some possibility that they may be trying to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D, or at least some of it. Last we know of Hill in The Winter Soldier, she is working for Stark, so why would she be involved in AOS unless S.H.I.E.L.D is being reconstructed? Some very interesting food for thought. In addition to this, the writers of the show have expressed interest in a Second Series... Quote
