Beat ya to it :P But yeah I'd love for there to be a second season. It'd also be great if Maria Hill could become a regular so that her character can be expanded. I like her.

Ahaha, no fair! And I agree, I think Hill could do with some more expansion. Her and Coulson were the two characters in Avengers who felt like their development was skimped on, so I am glad AOS has offered Coulson the chance to develop, and may offer Hill that same chance! :classic: Still need them in Lego form. What do you think will happen in the finale, Luna? :classic:

Hmm...maybe Nick Fury will reveal himself to Coulson and finally give him the full details on his revival. And then after more stuff happens with Skye along the way, we learn more about her special powers? It's too early for me to speculate at this point since I'm not exactly sure where they're going with it at this point  But I'm hoping to see Blizzard return soon, I think he'd work well as a villain during an episode or two.

Hill had like no development. Honestly I was surprised by the interest in her. She was barely in Avengers.

She just seems interesting to me. And I really like Cobie Smulders.

I figure this is mostly SHIELD changing forms and will be back with reforms. It would be awkward if Agents of SHIELD had like 6 more seasons where SHIELD didn't exist anymore.

And technically it's not like Nick Fury has the power to dissolve SHIELD at will. It does still exist. If the FBI was found to have tons of Netherlands spies bent on world domination the whole FBI wouldn't be shut down immediately. It would be a process. Obviously in some form SHIELD exists. It's just let it's secrets out, looks bad and is under investigation. Some factions appear to be still fighting Hydra as I'm sure Coulson and his team will do.

I wonder if this is the start of a Civil War plot, by starting the Civil War within SHIELD itself...

Except for the fact that that's not what 'Civil War' is referring to in this case in any way shape or form.

I'm honestly wondering if Agents of SHIELD was built to be a one-season deal. It would certainly make sense, considering what's happened. However, unless Graviton and Blizard show up in the last five episodes, it'd be a bit dissapointing, so there may be plans to continue.

Can someone explain to me briefly the history of SHIELD in the comics? I have always loved SHIELD (Hence why I constantly moan about wanting more SHIELD in Lego form), so was wondering if someone can explain them to me?

Read only if you really want.

Early in the film Nick Fury appears to die, sending Cap on his mission. However later in the film we find out he faked his death. The film ends with Nick Fury still being dead, and only about four people knowing he was still alive. So it might never come up in Agents of SHIELD that Nick Fury survived, but he did.

And read only if you really really want to know re AoS

Samuel L Jackson has an appearance, not just voice or an off screen cameo, a regular in shot appearance, in the AoS season ender.

I think it's almost certainly safe to say that we haven't seen the last of SHIELD in the MCU just yet. For a while, AOS aside, they will probably remain under the radar, trying to rebuild itself from the ground up, while also trying to deal with the threat from Hydra. I have a feeling that we may see more of SHIELD in Ant-Man for some reason, though until the cast list is complete (or even added to at all) it is difficult to predict much of anything about the film, other than the fact that Scott Lang will steal the suit from Hank Pym at some point in the film (probably early on).

The history of SHIELD in the comics? Oh dear. I fear you do not realize just how convulsed and brain hurting a question it is that you are asking.

At it's most basic it was a Cold War international Agency dedicated to world security, not too far removed from what is seen in the movie. Sgt Nick Fury and his Howling Commando's were instrumental early recruits and eventually formed much of the leadership backbone. It's Soviet sponsored counterpart was HYDRA (which in the comics has no or limited connection to and a deep enmity for Nazi's for the most part. And before anyone brings up Strucker, he is Soviet era East German.)

Then there are the convoluted and conflicting Secret histories. Some involving Zodiac, others going back to Leonardo DaVinci. These are where we get into the whole idea of SHIELD and HYDRA being literally the same thing run by the same people. Very heavy Illuminati type overtones. Very strange. (Don't ask me to explain these all. They start to make my brain hurt.)

Is there any confirmation of that at all? Last I checked, with Phase 2 especially everything was pretty up to date.

^

Frankly, anything to do with the time during which each film of the MCU takes place is very difficult to truly confirm; anything related to it is pure speculation, though there is seemingly solid reasoning behind said speculation. In any case, it's not as if the timing makes too much of a difference anyway (for the most part at least).

.

It all fits together and all is drawn by primary sources, the movies themselves. This isn't even showing verses telling, this is straight up telling. It's canon, not speculation, unless you want to ignore the testimonials and statements of numerous characters. Likewise I believe there was official word that Avengers took place in 2011, which was mentioned on this very topic over a year or two ago. I've done my research, and honestly compared to the main comics a year behind is remarkably fast. Franklin Richards is still like nine in the comic, and he is like forty years old.

Thank you for the brief explanation. :classic: So basically, SHIELD are an organisation who were formed during the Cold War to keep world peace?

I haven't seen Agent Carter, but supposedly that short shows the origin of SHIELD and it's first Director.

I had no idea that the timing of each MCU film had officially been confirmed by cast members, though this doesn't surprise me considering how I tend to ignore interviews with cast members due to them rarely being anything particularly interesting (for me that means revealing some information regarding films the actor/actress is involved in rather than information regarding their private lives). Even with the timing being official so far, can we really guarantee that the MCU will continue to adhere to this? I wouldn't be surprised if it did, but there's no guarantee that it will. One thing's for sure though, Ant-Man is likely to be set very shortly after the events of AOU.

Random question, who is your favorite hero in the MCU? Good agents count, and that includes ones solely from Agents of SHIELD.

Currently I am split between Banner and Falcon, though Falcon has the advantage because I only really liked Banner in the Avengers.

For me it's Agent Coulson. I like how he listens to the rules and regulations forced upon him to a certain extent, but once the extent of those rules is hit and he starts to realize things are wrong, he can very quickly abandon protocol in order to protect his team. The way he confronted Loki was heroic, as he knew he would most likely die, yet faced Loki with honor in the face of impending death. In addition to that, he always tries to see the best in people, to see their potential, something which makes him a genuine bad***.

O...idk...I would probably say Thor maybe? He's just awesome. I really like Falcon, Iron Man, and Cap too...Although if they get the Vision right and he doesn't look stupid, it will definitely be him. Or maybe even Scarlet Witch.

Iron Man. Perfectly captured the essence of the character and the comics. And then probably Cap! I see some one changed there user name?

I did! I figured out how to do it and I've wanted to change it for a couple months now so I did it :sweet: I still like Luna though, but I wanted my name to instill fear in the hearts of many.

Stark, Wilson, and Blake. Maybe Hill or Hulk (not Banner) in TIH.

but I wanted my name to instill fear in the hearts of many.

Luna might scare some people .

Footage of the opening battle of X-Men Days of Future Past has emerged. It seems pretty interesting, and the way the powers of the mutants come into play for the battle is very interesting. This seems like it could be very good, despite my doubts about Bryan Singer.

I'm not sure how long all those red shirts are going to last, as far as I know it's the First Class era mutants and Wolverines film, I hope it doesn't end up like Last Stand, with too many characters.
