Sam892 Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 But better than Spider-man 3, right? Did the villains feel undeveloped? Also, Bryan Singer is being accused of sexual abuse in case any one wants to know. It will be interesting to see how fox respond to this, I mean his name is all over the trailers and posters, maybe they will erase it from future versions to cover themselves until they get a definitive answer. Roman Polanski still makes movies that still get released in the US, even though he cannot set foot in the country because he would be put in prison for rape of a minor. Woody Allen has been accused of child molestation as well. The studio is not going to do anything here, and I don't think it will affect the film or its reception in any tangible way. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 About that X-Men DofP footage shown after the credits of ASM2, I don't understand why Sony would be advertising a Fox film in their own film, but I'm not too concerned about this development personally. After all, I'm not even sure I'll be able to see ASM2 yet, and even if I did I wouldn't end up staying after the credits anyway; there's no real incentive for me to do so like there is with Marvel Studios films. BrickG Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) My guess is nothing will happen. I'm not sure how someone can force you to do all that stuff. It sounds like if this is true the person seemed okay with it at the time :/. Also he was past the age of consent in that state (though flying somewhere to have sex where the age of consent is lower makes it a federal crime). Honestly I might sound like a jerk saying this but even if true it doesn't sound very rapey. It doesn't sound like anyone force fed this guy drugs or dragged him on the plane or anything. And again, age of consent in the state was reached... sounds a bit like someone regretting decisions made rather than having decisions forced on them. But hey, I don't know crap. I only read a summary on this one case. I could be 100% wrong. Also either way it doesn't look good. But it's not totally comparable to situations like Roman Polanski who did stuff to a 13 year old girl. I believe the guy in this case was 17 (which is still bad to many people but I believe the age of consent there is 16). Rumors about Singer's behavior have been around forever so it's a bit easier to believe this. But ultimately I'll let a judge and jury decide. EDIT: It sounds more like willing prostitution than anything else... As for how it'll affect the movie, probably very slightly. A few percents max probably. Edited April 17, 2014 by BrickG Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) I really doubt that this situation will affect the movie at all. For the most part, people are unconcerned about who is directing the movie (unless it's someone like M. Night Shymalan, so they know to avoid the movie) and there's no guarantee everyone even knows who the director is, or about this case. Unless I've not been paying attention, I've seen very little coverage of this on the news today, so this may not end up affecting the film at all, unless the case gains more publicity by the time that the film is released. *EDIT* 500 posts! montgocloud Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Business! This is the weirdest decision I've ever heard and it's sure to confuse audiences who aren't following comic book movie news... Is it just the trailer? Or is it new footage? Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 ^ From what I've heard, it's probably just an extended trailer or an extended scene from the film rather than anything overly ground-breaking. Whatever it ends up being I think, if I end up seeing ASM 2 at all, I won't bother staying through the credits to see some footage that is probably not even anything special. I can gladly wait a month or so after this comes out tomorrow to see Days of Future Past. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 It seems these films are going the direction of having the actually important extra scene be just a minute into the credits, with the truly post-credits scene being fun but kind of useless. This was certainly the case in Thor 2, and really even Winter Soldier - the first scene actually tied into something coming up, whereas the scene at the very end didn't make much difference. I certainly don't mind this direction with the scenes. Who wants to sit all the way through the credits anyway with credits being so long? So it seems that ASM2 could be following that trend. Advertising for X-Men seems a bit silly and unnecessary on a Spider-Man movie, since they could just show a trailer before the film and get the same result. But at the same time, most people probably won't even see it since the majority leaves before the credits are over (at least in every theater I have ever been in). This way, the post-credits scene that the studio really wants the entire audience to see is at the start of the credits, and for those who sit all the way through, it's just a throwaway bonus. People who stay are probably already fans anyway. Quote
Tanma Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) Sorry, to reply to Ultron... I think they freed Quinn since he knows the most about Gravitonium, since everything thinks Hall is dead. If they are going to try to harness the Gravitonium, which might wake up Hall, they are going to need someone who has figured out how to manipulate it. Though...I wonder what Garrent is planning to do with the Gravitonium. Speaking of him, I find myself getting more and more annoyed at people who think Hydra is grey morality-wise. They were founded by the Nazis, and anyone who chose to sign up had to have known that. Sitwell, Ward, Garrent, all of them knew Hydra had committed genocides and atrocities, and at least Sitwell knew they were planning to put their old genocides to shame with Insight. I am less annoyed by Loki Apologists, at least his crimes are completely fictional. Hydra's are linked to real horrors. This s why I don't want Ward "redeemed," he doesn't deserve it.. On ASM2 spoilers... If the spoilers I read are true, I'm a little upset they did end up killing Gwen. I mean it's not like anyone didn't see it coming, but still. Is it wrong that with the knowledge that a Venom film is in the works, that I am hoping that they pull a Ultimate Clone Saga and bring Gwen back through Carnage? Edited April 17, 2014 by Tanma Quote

rosalind14 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 According to Arad, Spider Man will never - so long as he's in charge - cross over to the other studios a'la turning up in Avengers etc. Not that this is a great shock! Quote

I read his interview. What a butthole. Spider-man has been a part of the Avengers before. He's just jealous Marvel Studios is making more money than he can. I can't believe he said "We haven't run out of ideas yet so there's no cross over in the near future" He's basically calling the Avengers a last resort. I find that insulting. He obviously doesn't care about the fans. And I question how much he even knows about spider-man considering he pretty much said "Spider-man was never an Avenger". Idiot. Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Considering the MCU movies so far (particularly the Avengers) I'm not too upset about the lack of Spider-Man. For one, he wouldn't at all fit in in an Avengers movie, if the first one was anything to go by (he's a street-level kind of hero rather than large-scale as was seen in Avengers). Saying that, it would be nice to see some of Spidey's rogue gallery in action in the MCU. Quote

People who stay are probably already fans anyway. The DOFP thing in the credits was some sort of one shot deal between fox and Sony. The director was still under contract to Fox. In order to get him Sony made a deal to do the in film marketing push for DOFP. Basically to attach a teaser trailer to their movie. They have no plans to cross universes or characters. The major difference is Roman Polanski and Woody Allen don't really make big summer blockbuster movies targeted at more general audiences and in particular teenagers. They tend to be more art house films. Plus mores and morals have been evolving. While in some ways society has accepted a much more permissive attitude about some things, such as homosexuality. Other things have become much more reviled. Exploitive stuff like casting couches and adults using 15 year olds for throwaway pleasure have become deeply frowned upon. And Singer is accused of essentially Casting Couching 15 year old boys. Considering that a studio and film already got in major trouble in the past when he forced a group of 14 to 16 year old actors to do a graphic nude shower scene for Apt Pupil. I suspect that his big budget blockbuster career is over. Quote

Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 ^ Someone is finally going to bring the Carnage story line to the big screen? Count me in for that; Carnage really needs some more love, and a film is the perfect way to raise his popularity. Quote

Count me in for that; Carnage really needs some more love, and a film is the perfect way to raise his popularity. Weirdly Carnage is one of those villains that would probably work far better on screen then he works in the comics. In the comics Carnage is actually kind of boring. A one note character. He's powerful violent and an evil sociopath. He worked well for his intro story but everything past that got old. He's kinda like the Chucky doll from the Child's Play movies, with an amped up visual appeal. But to use him a single time as a one shot movie villain he could be great. Although it really does need to be after a full Venom story to properly allow for contrasts. Quote

Mr Man Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 So maybe bad Venom in TAS 3, than anti villain / anti hero Venom in a spin off film with Carnage? Do you guys think the symbiotes have to be aliens? Would they work as Oscorp genetic experiments? Quote

Do you guys think the symbiotes have to be aliens? Would they work as Oscorp genetic experiments? Well in the Ultimate comics Venom is actually a supposed cure to cancer that Parker's dad created with Brock's, so I definitely think it's feasible that they use something like that for Venom. It might actually work better that way since we've already seen alien Venom before in a movie and it failed pretty badly so something fresher and new could be nice. Quote
