Spider-Man Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Did anyone catch the subtle info about Skye in last nights AoS? If it means what it seems to then something major has just been added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In talking with Ward Raina reveals that she thinks Skye might be more than they had thought. By comparing data from Skye's SHIELD drive with Hydra/Centipede info she already had Raina has figured out that Skye is an infant from a village in Hunan or Yunnan China (hard to tell exact pronunciation, but if this means what I think it does Yunnan would make more sense), that had been massacred by monsters. Strange monstrous creatures or beings. And she said the monsters were the infants parents. A remote village near the Himalaya's? Strange monstrous creatures who are parents of a seemingly normal human child? Possibly some tie to the Kree, ie the blue Alien Coulson found to be part of TAHITI? Marvel fans I think we can see where this is going!!!! :cry_happy: THE INHUMANS MAY BE ENTERING THE MCU!! Kevin Feige let it slip awhile ago that they are working an Inhuman project. Basically involving the Inhumans as a sleeper cell supposed to prep for an alien invasion, but instead assimilate. This could be a teaser or kickoff for that type of story. For those not familiar with the Inhumans they are a race of Humans who were genetically manipulated by the Kree. Inhumans are born more or less human seeming. At a certain age they are exposed to the mutagen Terrigen Mists which cause them to each change in unique ways. Radically changing their appearance to often monstrous and granting them awesome powers. They live in a technological City / Space ship, originally located in the high Himalayas. The main characters are the Royal family, Black Bolt, his Wife Medusa, her sister Crystal, and the brothers Karnac, Gorgon and Triton. If Skye is one of the main Inhumans she would most likely match up to Crystal. Although given that characters past ties to the Fantastic Four they might simply use a non royal previously unknown Inhuman instead. So to avoid another studio conflict like with Quicksilver (Oddly enough Crystals ex husband. Don't ask) So what do you think. Am I off base with this one? (Heck I got Deathlok right) Don't think Chinese. Think Himalayan. And once you connect Himalayan with "Monster's giving birth to a human infant" there is only one thing in the Marvel Universe it can be. See the spoiler above. I really hope you are right because that was the same thing I was initially thinking. I REALLY hope you are right but I have my doubts that Marvel would introduce such a huge group of characters through their TV show. Maybe they could show some of the background stuff and get the ball rolling towards the big reveal, I just don't see the reveal happening first on the show. Quote

Tanma Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 The only potential issue about that theory is ...if they intend to release an Inhuman movie one day, it might make AoS "required reading" which could bother some fans. And I do want to have an Inhuman movie, if only for the budget to point out how problematic their society is with their eugenics. I know they have a reason for it, but with how advanced their technology is and how smart their allies are, you would think they would be able to get around that if they really wanted to. Quote

Mr Man Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Agents of Shield has officially been renewed and Agent Carter has been ordered by ABC! These are happy times, guys. That is good news. However will it contain Stark and the Howling Commandos? Another B Cast show might not do so well even if AoS has been renewed. Quote
Tanma Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) Agents of Shield has officially been renewed and Agent Carter has been ordered by ABC! These are happy times, guys. The only worry with Agent Carter I have at all is that the big reveal of Winter Soldier was happening for a really long time, entwined with SHIELD's origins. I really won't want to see our heroine dealing with "the corruption," as it implies that either she doesn't recognize it, or she fails to stop it. But other than that I am completely excited for Agent Carter. Here is to hoping it does great. I wonder if they will cover storylines from the comics, like the experiments on African Americans to recreate the super soldier serum. On AoS being renewed, I'm glad. It's gotten better since this last arc started, and I do like not having to wait for the movies for MCU news. I just worry how they will justice being called SHIELD now. While not official yet it is reported that both sides (studio and actors) want Dominic Carter in it as Howard Stark and Neal McDonnough as Dum Dum Dugan. Figure Gabe Jones would give them a nice direct tie to AoS as well. Quote

That's true. I think they will make a movie of them, perhaps in phase 4. They are the big thing in Marvel comics right now too. Quote
Tanma Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Someone proposed the idea that Agent Carter could feature Marvel heroes from the thirties, forties, and fifties as characters. We know the Golden Age Human Torch exists in the MCU; he had a cameo in the Stark Expo in the first Captain America movie (though I am not sure if they can call him that what with Fox owning the Fantastic Four) but others like Angel, Thin Man, and Gorilla Man could exist. It could help flesh out the MCU's timeline, as right now it goes Captain America and then nothing happens in terms of superheroes until the first Iron Man. (Or the Hulk, he might have been made earlier) If the rumors about the first Ant Man being active in the sixties are true that does fill some space, but I would like having a number of heroes for every decade. (Thor doesn't count because he wasn't on Earth) Quote
Starrocks923 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I don't have the link, but the first clip for the final episode of AoS Season one confirms what Faefrost said. Seeing as the GH-325 made Garrett a real clairvoyant, he pretty much spelled out what has been on Raina's mind all this time... Anyways, has Skye showed any change involving powers lately? Quote

Starrocks923 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Anyone else seen the preview clip for the finale? I mentioned it two posts above yours, but yes, it seems to point toward a phase III or IV movie... There was also a poster for season two, entitled "Rise". One last thing, who was Agent Carter's husband? She mentioned moving on and something about finding her husband in Winter Soldier, but maybe he will be a recurring character. Quote
Tanma Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) Sorry about that. I think they would resolve it in AoS, at least in regards to the characters in the show. In the comics I believe she married Gabe of the Howling Commandos, who Cap did save in his first movie. This has lead my sister to suspect Triplett and Sharon could be cousins. Ultron Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 You know, when they first announced the agent Carter show, I wasn't too excited. But now that I think about it, it could be really awesome and unique. We could see Shield dealing with the first super villains and such. Plus Hayley Atwell is amazing and I've been waiting for a female to take the lead. Quote

My takeaway from the movie was her husband was probably one of the howling commando's. For some reason it gave me the impression that it was Dum Dum Dugan, but I can't remember exactly what made me think that? Something in the room? A picture? Granted them showing such a romance on screen in the TV show would be problematic as Neal McDonnough does not do that. (He does not do intimate scenes and does not kiss anyone but his actual wife.) According to the Marvel wiki one of the first interracial relationships in Marvel comics was between Peggy Carter and Gabe Jones, who was one of the Howling Commando in the movie. So it might be him, if he shows up. Quote
rodiziorobs Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 As excited as I am for the Agent Carter show (loved the one-shot), I think it might be better done as a miniseries. My reason here is that AoS has been unwilling to tackle story arcs that take more than one episode--sure, there have been things that have built from previous episodes, and threads dropped here and there to be picked up later on, but almost without exception, each story has been made to fit nicely into a 45 minute window. It has left the stories without much emotional weight or actual stakes, and also stunted character development IMO. Obviously, there have been a few exceptions where an element has played out across more than one show, but the biggest one of these-the consequences of TWS-happened outside the show. It has been good for the series, but AoS since then hasn't been much more than a reaction to it. It would be nice if the producers behind Carter could produce a longer story arc with bigger stakes and some smaller payoffs per episode, but with the bigger goal always prominent over three or five or even more episodes. I just don't see ABC committing to that kind of storytelling in a regular show format, especially given the rather ho-hum synopsis they have released with the announcement. Maybe, though, since they won't have to worry about Carter having to exist within the continuity of the MCU (rather, it would be a history of it), that won't be an issue. However, it also means that there won't be a movie to come along and jolt the series if it starts lagging behind, like TWS did for AoS. Despite my negative outlook, I am really hoping this show can be a huge success. But I've been wrong before (like with AoS). Quote
Tanma Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I think we have to forget AoS a little for its problem with long arcs, as it is a SHIELD show. Winter Soldier changed a lot about the MCCU, and from what I understand the writers of AoS were aware of Winter Soldier's twists beforehand. They kind of had to use the group of antagonists from the movie since they had should big ties to SHIELD and what happened to SHIELD in Winter Soldier. And they couldn't release the reveal until Winter Soldier had already came out, as it spoiled one of the twists from the movie. So they kind of were forced to borrow from the movie because of its heavy ties to SHIELD, and they had to wait until the end of the season before they could do the main arc. Sure, they could have revealed who the Clairvoyant was earlier, but then it would be hard to not mention who he was working with. So while AoS has plenty of flaws, I think I can forgive the first season for its mostly lack or arcs. Quote
Ultron Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Channing Tatum will officially appear as Gambit in a future Xmen Movie. God I hate Fox. Give up the license because you suck. Also, AoS has officially moved to the 9 pm slot on Tuesdays this coming fall. Quote

Spider-Man Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 9pm? Isn't that a little late? I'm assuming that is Eastern time, so moving it back a little bit will probably give people in the more western time zones a better chance at seeing it. I mean for people in the Western time zone I would think the way they have it now, at 5pm, is just way to early to get a good number of viewers. It is also moved out of the same time slot as NCIS which could potentially give the show more viewers as well. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 All I see around the internet is Channing Tatum hate, especially being cast as Gambit. I don't get it. The guy can be a charming actor. Gambit's a charming and gruff guy. What's the big deal? Maybe he'll work and maybe he won't, but only the final finished film will tell us that. As for him not looking the part - just take Wolverine. Hugh Jackman is over six feet tall and objectively attractive, aka not at all comic book Wolverine. As for Gambit, his defining features are all costuming (and of course everybody in comic books is insanely ripped these days, so that's no issue). Honestly any old handsome-looking dude could play Gambit and look just fine. Quote
The Legonater Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I've never seen any Channing Tatum movies, so I have no idea how good he would be for the part. But he seems excited to do it, and for the moment that's good enough for me. As long as they give Gambit more runtime than Origins: Wolverine, I'm fine. Quote
Tanma Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 (edited) Spoilers Glad to see Deathlok isn't dead now, and that he had the chance to bite back. I would have preferred Garret die there, but I suppose that won't have been enough for theorists, so they made it more absolute. I wonder where he will end up now. Without Hydra he can't get repairs easily, he might end up looking more like the classic portrayal of Deathlok. We know he has a metal plate over part of his face, thanks to the scan Skye did, maybe some of his skin will be burned off to expose it. But I have to say, whatever I guessed about the blue thing, I was probably wrong. Because going by how the two known users reacted, that thing isn't Kree. And on that note I thought Coulson had been going crazy, glad to see my thinking wasn't wrong. Edited May 14, 2014 by Tanma Quote
