AnthonyP301 Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I'm glad that we're getting a GotG cartoon. I've started watching the Earth-8096 shows and movies on Netflix and I'm planning on watching Earth-TRN123 after. I hope AA and HaAoS.M.A.S.H. are added to Netflix soon, USM has both seasons on. I know the GotG have been in episodes of A:EMH and USM if anyone's seen them are they pretty good? I have another question, too. I missed out on seeing XM:DoFP in theaters since I live pretty far away from a city with a decent theater . A few pages ago I asked if I should wait until I see The Wolverine before DoFP. Some of you said it would actually be better if I watch TW before DoFP. I have to wait a few months for the DVD to come out (I don't like watching movies online) and was wondering that since I have TW recorded on my DVR now that I found it was on TV again should I watch it now? I know that there are inconsistencies between the two, but I can ignore them. If anyone took the time to read and answer this thanks in advance. Quote
wesker Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 There's supposedly a wolverine cartoon inbound as well as the logo was glimpsed on a marvel stall. Thats great to hear. Its been too long since the last X-Men themed cartoon. Although as much as I like the character, I'm a little disapointed its going to be another Wolverine centric show. I would prefer something like the original 90s cartoon that focused on the whole team, without any gimmicks like the "X-Men in high school" angle from Evolution. Still hopefully a new show will bring in more X-Men sets. Quote

Sam892 Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Seems a little strange considering what's coming up for Wolverine! Ye but what marvel have planned won't last long, I can't see them doing that long term for such a huge money maker. I'm guessing his 'absence' will be no longer than a year or two, and will be soley to piss Fox off. What doesn't suprised me is that any mention of the x-men has been omitted from the title, and since this wolverine cartoon will be in the Animated universe I see a lot of cross overs with Spidey, Hulk and the Avengers. I don't expect a lot of X-men though, since they haven't appeared in any form in the 3vyears this universe has existed. They've been mentioned like the FF but I doubt we will see them much, I'm guessing it will mostly feature Cap, Fury, Hulk , Thing and the worst character in existence Deadpool. Quote

I attribute it to Rob Liebfelts long standing deal with the Devil. How else do you explain any of it? Cable? Deadpool? 24 pack ABS. Pouches in places pouches really don't belong. Boobs in places boobs really don't belong. Etc. the only logical conclusion is unholy demonic influence. Heck it seemed to work for Todd McFarlane. Quote

What makes you say that? He's kind of a running gag but he's not terrible. At least he can kick some butt when he wants to. Does anyone really want a Wolverine show? I don't like the character (the movies have really turned me away from him due to the overload) and unless this show means sets for the other xmen, I say no thank you. Quote
Tanma Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Yeah, not particularly interested in Wolverine, especially since there are more interesting X-Men. And since mutants and the X-Men tend to be used as metaphors for oppressed minorities, it kind of is uncomfortable when their lead is an old straight white dude. (Ignoring that one alternate universe Wolverine who dated Hercules) Quote

Even if the X-Men themselves are barely featured, hopefully we'll still see a lot of classic villains and supporting characters appear on the show. Some have already shown up in other cartoons from the Marvel Animated Universe like Sabretooth, Juggernaught, Sauron and soon Ka-Zar. It would be great to see others like Mystique, Silver Samurai, Lady Deathstrike and Omega Red - especially if there's a chance they could appear in potential Lego sets. Quote

The problem is the running gag isn't even remotely funny. If have no problem with Deadpool if marvel didn't try to shove him down ours throats show much, every single comic series has Deadpool variants ( even teams who have nothing to do with him ), the amount of series he has that are just absolute crap and that he's now influencing other characters. By that I mean the version spider-man in the USM is basically Deadpool. He's forced upon us at every point, Lego marvel superheroes is a prime example. I get the fact that he sells well, but good lord it's way to much. It's one of the reasons I don't bother collecting Marvel comics anymore. He's the ultimate rash that won't disappear, constantly there and constantly irritating. Quote

He has been in a lot of what I see Marvel post about and such though. And yeah, he narrated parts of the Lego game which seemed random to me. I didn't think kids would really know who he was unless they watched USM Quote
Starrocks923 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Evidently, Nathan Fillian's cameo is rumored to be another character from the comics, albeit minor. Apparantly he will be voicing the character- I'm wondering if several other voice cameos will fly over our heads in the theater. Original story: http://schmoesknow.com/hot-scoop-guardians-of-the-galaxy-news-nathan-fillions-cameo-revealed-spoiler/25426/ Hypable, Comic Book Movie and i09 have all reported on it so far, according to a Google search. So...yeah. Woof woof. Quote
Mr Man Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I'm wondering if several other voice cameos will fly over our heads in the theater. It's likely. Apparently Alexis Denisof played The Other in The Avengers. Bit of a waste when he didn't look or sound like him. Quote
Moon_Knight Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I sure hope we see a Nova cameo in GOTG. I'm not getting my hopes up though. Since Wolverine is my favorite X-Men, I'm excited to see they have a show with him coming out. Makes sense that he would be the central focus of the show since he's the most popular X-Men especially to children. It's kind of funny that he's so popular to children especially since he's probably one of the most violent Marvel characters with knives on his hands! Growing up in the 90s I love the animated X-Men television series for the nostalgia but it in no way compares to X-Men Evolution or Wolverine and the X-Men. They were better written. Wolverine and the X-Men's Days of Future Past episode was way better than the 90s animated series' episode IMO. I've tried watching the 90s cartoon on Netflix and couldn't get past the first episode. I turned it off because I decided that I wanted to keep the fond memories of waking up Saturday mornings to watch it. Quote

Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 ^ It's an upcoming Disney film which I believe was originally a Marvel property (though I'm not 100% sure of that). Quote
Tanma Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) In Marvel comics they are Japan's main superhero team, but they will also be starring in an upcoming animated movie made by Disney. They first were written about in the comics in the late nineteen nineties, (1998 or so) but they are pretty obscure. Edited June 29, 2014 by Tanma Quote

It looks great! I'm so excited to see it! I love Animated movies. On an unrelated note, since Wasp unfortunately won't be in Avengers 2, I bet Scarlet Witch will be the one to help give The Vision his name. That could maybe start their romance too. I could see the Vision standing on top of Avengers tower, looking at the sunset/rise and SW walks up and he talks about his purpose and robot stuff, she gives him the idea for his name like Janet did and tell him to join them, and then maybe she holds his hand. Thoughts? Edited June 29, 2014 by Ultron Quote
Faefrost Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 One other bit of interesting casting news. Apparently Andy Serkis has been consulting on Avengers 2 for mocap. Basically coaching Mark Ruffalo and such. But he also mentioned that he has a role in the film. So let the speculation begin! Quote

Tanma Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Have you seen the character posters for the film that were leaked today? Yes, that actually is what prompted me to ask. I'm not surprised thy went with those six, since the two other characters who have been on the team were originally X-Men characters. (Sunfire and the Silver Samurai I believe) I have to say my favorite tends to be Gogo, partly because her superhero name doesn't make sense. From what I've looked up, it could roughly translate to "Afternoon Omelet," and that is only if you change her name by one letter. So as far as I can tell her name is meaningless, and I love it. In the comics it is worth noting she is a former criminal who was let out of jail in exchange for joining Big Hero 6, so that may come up in the film. Quote

Faefrost Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Man, the soundtrack of GotG is going to be 'awesome': Probably the best "other than the score" soundtrack since Iron Man 1. Speaking of which have we heard any of the GotG score, or does anyone know who is doing it? Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 According to IMDB, Tyler Bates is composing the score: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0061045/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cr11 Quote
