I don't think it's an infinity stone. I'm not sure what it is yet, but possibly not one of the stones. It seems a bit less over the top world shaking powerful than those. Maybe something of a different pantheon or alien group than the Asgardians? The Kah stone perhaps?

On the plus side I take it as a good sign that season 2 dove full on into the MCU no more beating around the bush. Nazi Hydra, Peggy Carter, the Howling Commando's and an actual clearly recognizable named comic supervillain!!! A real one! A scary one! One that gives the Avengers trouble in the comics! And is dead on perfectly presented here. (ok they left out the ball and chain. I can live with that.). Heck above and beyond the shear coolness factor it is a brilliant ForkU to the Ang Lee Hulk movie. "See this is how you do that villain right!" :cry_happy:

Nah, definitely not an infinity stone. But it had the weird symbols Garrett and Coulson were drawing on it *oh2* Also, I'm pissed Isabelle Hartley is dead. You don't introduce Lucy Lawless just to kill her off!!!!! :damn: Bring her back like you did with Coulson!

Maybe...

Somehow I am not sure that she is dead. They seemed to linger on that arm. I think we just saw the birth of a new villain, not the death.

I'm not sure exactly why, but somehow the back half of season 1 and this episode keep making me think of the epic yet often overlooked stories in the classic old Marvel Two In One book. The Project Pegasus and Serpent Society stuff in particular.

They did use the Ball & Chain when he attacked Talbott.

I doubt it's an Infinity Stone, but it could end up being something to do with the Inhumans? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Are there any armless female supervillains in Marvel? Edit: Also, why was fox able to use Viper in Wolverine? She's not a mutant, is she? I wonder if Marvel can use her too...

Great start to the season. The Absorbing Man was wonderfully done, and is looking to be a great recurring villain. Glad to see they're finally bringing comic book villains to light (I believe Blizzard is coming back in a couple episodes too? Excitement all around). I do love the brief use of the ball-and-chain, though I'm fine with it not being a regular thing.

I really hope Hartley isn't dead. She and her team looked like interesting characters, and it would be a shame to bring in a talented actress like that and take her out so soon.

I'm not totally convinced on that metal thing being an infinity stone either. For one, I doubt they'd introduce such a crucial part of the overarching story line in a TV show that a lot of fans aren't watching. As stated, it doesn't seem half as powerful as the stones we've seen either - death on contact is pretty bad, but everything else has been far worse. It's definitely bad, but not infinity stone - level bad.

Apart from that, I like what they're doing with Skye's character. Far better than she was the first season. Ward has also gone in an interesting direction, and Fitz's condition is completely heartbreaking. That said, I wonder where Simmons went to? Also, have we seen the man at the end before?

Well that was a fantastic opener.

The villain seemed genuinely threatening.

What's-her-name probably isn't dead, maybe a winter soldier style arm is needed though.

I did think that Sky would have been able to touch the thing though.

I like Sky's new hairstyle.

Kraken is another old Whedon actor (This time from Dollhouse).

I think the opening is a great taste of Agent Carter.

Poor Fitz, plus the idea of lasting mental consequences for Fitz and Ward were great.

I don't think the obelisk is a infinity gem, just a bloody powerful object.

So I watched Gotham last night and Agents of SHIELD right after. One was god awful and one was amazing... Agents of SHIELD was the amazing one. I've been following it through the ups and downs and I'm so glad I did. The opener was action packed, fun, well written, and had great character development. It fixed every single problem that season one had.

I feel like the reason some people didnt like season 1 was because it had slow build up to the real stuff. I didn't mind, watched the whole series since the start. I still love having a show connected to my favorite movies which are about my favorite thing. :sweet:

I am un-ashamedley eating this stuff up! Chink in armor found!

True-the first half of season one was pretty slow and that's where most of the problems stemmed from. Just like you, I've liked the show all the way through.

But I'd be remiss if I didn't recognize the faults that the show had before. All that being said, the show keeps getting better with every episode. I can't wait to see where the writers take us next with these characters!

Re why was Fox able to use Viper in the Wolverine movie? Because Viper was more or less moved to be one of Wolverine's arch-nemesis' in the Wolverine solo books. Fox's license is not simply "mutants" but "mutants" and "primary supporting characters and villains". This is why they can use "Lady Deathstrike" even though she first shows up in Alpha Flight, or they can use Henry Peter Gyrich in the first movie (granted the character was unrecognizable thankfully) even though he is more often associated with the Avengers.

So is Viper one of those characters that falls in the gray zone like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver? I think it'd be interesting to see her in AoS this season since Kraken is in it.

I've heard a rumor going around that the first Age of Ultron trailer will debut with Interstellar, which releases on November 7th.

Yeah I heard that too. Hope it's true as I really would like to see Interstellar. (Though how many people are going to sit through it I don't know...)

I recall reading somewhere--which may have just been fan theory rather than fact--that Viper can be used by the MCU if she's only called "Madame Hydra". Tho Quicksilver has his nickname & real name in both DOFP and AoU, I think, so maybe it's just that Viper can't be ninja-affiliated in the MCU... eh, who knows? They can always introduce a different 'Madame Hydra' instead.

Even if not, there are plenty of other Hydra baddies they can pull from... not to mention non-Hydra baddies, too, like Creel!

That's interesting. I was just wondering if it's possible we'll see her this season on AoS, considering she has close ties to Kraken and all. I love female baddies and they really haven't shown too many female hydra agents.

Hmm..if there is going to be another one, who will be the villain?

Either a combo of Fin Fang Foom/The Real Mandarin, or MODOK (which would be super awesome if they explored AIM more than they "did" in the third one).

I wonder how they will make a dragon more realistic? Giant robot? Genetic Mutation?

I would love to see M.O.D.O.K. again, he can be used in so many different ways! He could easily just hack into computer systems.

Wait, we haven't seen MODOK yet :look:

And I don't think they need to try and make it more realistic. Marvel is learning they need to just stick with the "out-there" comic versions and it's working. Weird works! *cough* Vision *cough*

My goodness, you're right. For some reason I get Arnim Zola and M.O.D.O.K. mixed up. I guess because they're both robots?
