johnsocal Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Setting major complaints aside, I would like to focus instead on what we like about the sets and what minor modifications they could do to make them better. 1. I like the new trans-orange canopies and I would like to see more SW's canopies in that color 2. Im biased towards white pieces so the human vehicles do have something going for them. Instead of black contrast pieces on the human ships they should consider dark blue or standard Classic Space blue instead. 3. The Spacey humans torsos are a step in the right direction but some color contrast would be better than all white. 4. While I do like the orange trim, I think changing the orange tank treads and orange wheels to grey would be better. 5. Reduce some of the clutter and beef up the existing designs so they're not too fragile. After the Human Vs. Martian war has been waged and the humans have emerged victorious, we need to get some good ole' Earth-based multi-nationials over there to build a nice Space City for them. We need to get the Martians involved in the invisible hand of free market capitalism to help create stability and we'll even set aside some land for them to build some Casinos You know deep in your heart that a LEGO Martian Casino set whould be a big seller Quote
snefroe Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 i would replace most of the orange parts like the wheels with grey. i'd give airtanks to the minifigs, and get normal figs for martians. some shooting mechanisms may be deleted as well Quote
xenologer Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 In approximate order of importance... Steering mechanisms on Rovers! Good old M-Tron and earlier era had awesome steering (without needing technic!) built into their vehicles. I want to see some clever mechanisms like that again. -on a side note, Im Definetly buying two of the Tricycle rover to re-make a classic SpacePolice Spy-Trak in white/orange civillian colors Replace gummi-bear candy aliens with ExoForce Drones colored green - good re-use of a nice mould. Remove the air pump stuff - im not using them anyway so all they do is drive the price up like crazy for no good reason. I'm gonna have to miss out on the base because it's too expensive per part once you throw away the airtubes(no, theres no chance of selling them on bricklink, they suck that much). :-( Actually, I'd keep the orange wheels, since thats a cool new color for them; and if you want grey ones, just buy an extra SW Clone Turbo Tank off ebay, all the ugly grey wheels you'd ever need! Replace the Bionicle drill pieces on the vehicles, with technic drills consisting of clever stacks of gears - see some of the Old AquaRaider's submarines for examples of this. Let them actually spin rather than just decorate. Get a New airtank for the astronauts, scuba tanks are kinda 'outdated' compared to current Real NASA designs. Quote
SuvieD Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I don't think anything will change this series. I want to see something along the lines of Blacktron/Space Police 1 next go around. No stupid gimmicky junk though. No more tubes, launchers, catapult or light up weapons. Simple classic designs, small bases, repair robots and scouting type ships. All in simple color schemes with simple logos. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Tube removel. Thats it. -ZotS Quote
PSPguy Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Arent you guys forgetting classic space figs!? *wub* They looked so cute cool! :-D Quote
Capn Kirk 911 Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 First of all take out the nerf blasters, hellooo It's called lego not nerf!!! ;-) Quote
Corvus Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Yes! Tubes, Nerf, and Lego do not mix. Just lego is okay. Make martians with actual joints, not the jello molds they are now. Quote
Jipay Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 No more launchers. I think modularity was also a really important element of the space sets I liked, and this something obviously missing here :-/ Quote
Wout Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 If the capitalism is something they must learn you can make a mars McDonalds for the aliens I find it always funny there's still no McDonalds on the moon :-D Quote
BearHeart Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 The only things I would change is to get rid of the firing mechanism that do nothing but drive up the price of the sets. Quote
Kahgarak Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 NO more projectiles. ARTICULATED Marsmen. NO Nerf blasters. The rest is fine. By the way, have you noticed how most kids that found out about this theme thought that the aliens were the bad guys, while the humans capture them and do research on them? Quote
zero1312 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Replace gummi-bear candy aliens with ExoForce Drones colored green - good re-use of a nice mould. I think that was the thought most of us had when we've first seen the first pics of the sets, right? X-D Quote
