I can't see why anyone wouldn't purchase this set, great Minifigures, a good price to piece ratio ( UK at least), the car can easily be modded and 1% of all sales goes to charity. Not just any charity put the Michael J Fox Foundation who do amazing work. The only reasonable excuse I can accept is not being a BTTF fan. Apart from that this set has a very reasonable cause to purchase it.

I'm gonna wait to see if the BTFIII version looks any better. I'd rather not leave the hood looking so, well, blocky.

That is an abomination if ever I've seen one. As I have no fondness for Back to the Future, I'll definitely have no notion of touching this. The minifigures are quite nice though, I'll give it that.

I was skeptical when the earliest image became available, but now that the minifigures are confirmed (and looking quite excellent!), I find myself nearly sold on it. It just depends on the price. For the piece count, I'm hoping for 29.99 USD at most but expecting it to be higher.

I can't wait for this set! Even if the design is a little weird, and there's a spelling mistake. It dosn't matter, I like it alot. I forget how to spell many words several times a day.

The fun that will be had when putting this in a western setting, or a 1950's setting will be beyond awsome!

I like the chance to support a CUUSOO designer and the parkinson's research too.

Maybe this set will look good in the entertainment center displayed with my BTTF movie boxes.

If you have the palace cinema, you could use the black convertable as Bifs 1950s car. That would also look great next to this set.

Also have to say, I'm getting really tired of all the hood complaints. There's a reason for why it looks the way it does and it has to do with functionality over aesthetics

You forget that buyers of this set are over 30 pushing 40 .. AFOLs to be precise. Those creatures are not known to actually play with LEGO. They MOC and/or display .. this set will mean zero to TLG's usual target group

That's why they're complaining about the rather crappy look of the hood. The "slope 10 6x 8" was just about perfect for this job ..

I'd say it's marketed to AFOBTTFs, not AFOLs.

Nah, I think it's more towards AFOL who are also BTTF fans, as they changed the date on the display to one referencing the LEGO brick patent.

To quote myself (is that the highest level of vanity  ?):
All of you that just can't accept the hood design could always change that into part 4515 yourselfs ;-)!

There are reasons for the look in the set. If you think they´re good enough - that´s up to you. But for god sake dig out a 4515 from your collection and have it ready so you can build your ultimate car.

I´m for one are really excited to see such a classic set being released by TLG. If it haven´t been for CUUSOO and the way this has worked out I´m 100% sure we hadn´t seen the DeLorean DMC-12 ever as an official set. Two cool figs and lots of parts to start with for all of you Mod´ers that will make it more accurate to your liking.

So how can this be something that´s so bad? What has it pushed aside that was so much better? To me it´s all gravy with whipped cream and a cherry on top!

I´m getting at least three copies - you can take that to the bank  !

But then again, everybody is entitled to have an opinon.

I'll bet there are more fans of LEGO who are BFFT fans than the other way 'round

Sure, this set is made of suck and CUUSOO is a sucky idea. TLG can design their sets just perfectly. This wannabe pleasing to the fan community is a laugh

Which is exactly why CUUSOO exists - to market LEGO to people who aren't already LEGO fans. As just2good pointed out, there's a little Easter Egg for AFOLs in the 1958, but the target market here is people outside the AFOL echo chamber.

I doubt they'll succed. But I'm sure we'll never know ...

Just how many people out there are collecting BTTF toys? Not a place I'd start up a new business that's for sure

Damn, that's a fair bit, one for each film eh (as the description suggests), good on you (just save some for me LOL JK), IMO I actually like the lego hood design on the delorean, its kinda cute , its still a win win for me though. :classic:

Where do you find this statement on lego.cuusoo.com?

Where do you find this statement on lego.cuusoo.com?

"The projects that succeed in reaching 10,000 connect to passionate interest communities outside of the "traditional" LEGO fan community. We see that as a good thing; it identifies new markets and audiences for our products and creates a better business case, which makes it easier for us to say yes to producing your project." -Tim Courtney, Lego Cuusoo Community Manager

Has anyone seen this already? I am posting from a Pad, so I can not see if the picture fits in the 800x600 resolution max... I hope so! (Source 1000steine.de)

Nope, we haven't! Thanks man! :classic:

If you can open it (which I doubt it, guessing you're a store employee), please give us some pictures of the instruction book and the flux capacitor piece!

Well... I was hoping that the part 3 variation with the box on the hood would make the crappy hood worth it... Nope.

To bad this isn't an actual licensed set, Lego would have just created a new piece. I guess I need to set the bar low for CUUSOO sets...

That would be nice, but I am not a store employee. The picture is from the german website: 1000steine.de
