Sam892 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Looks great hopefully since now more angles and visuals have been shown, it may sway some people's views. Quote
SMC Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I just don't know, this is the coolest and worst lego set ever. Some parts of it are so good like the printed bricks and mini figs but I have never seen a Lego set so badly designed, the hood just looks bad but the roof only being connected to the car on the back side with the front just leaning against it is unlike anything I have seen from lego. Is this what we get when lego don't designed the whole thing but try to make someones design work. I did not think the original design was that good but I thought its ok lego will fix it and make it great. The whole thing is summed up by the misspelled flux capacitor, something that should be so good just done wrong. I so wanted to love this set and now I don't know if I will even buy it. Quote
Laservampire Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) Those printed parts have tipped me over the edge, gotta have it now. (even if it'll end up more MOC than set!) FBTB's written review of the set! It's been taken down :( A google search reveals this quote "I've already received flak for expressing my negative reaction to the set. So you should be forewarned that if you were one of those people that..." Edited July 17, 2013 by Laservampire Quote
just2good Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 A google search reveals this quote "I've already received flak for expressing my negative reaction to the set. So you should be forewarned that if you were one of those people that..." That was a quote from the review itself. He said that in the beginning, and the rest of it said something like "...said that, this review isn't for you." I am a bit curious why they took it down. I notified them that about the misspelling, since they didn't mention it in the review, so that may be the reason. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Love that the stuff is all printed. Also, the invisible bricks are very nice. Disappointed that the seating inside is 2x4. Quote
Kez Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 IMO the set looks much better closer up, the figures look extremely awesome, I even like the printed pieces (especially the flux capacitor despite my eagle eyed spelling error ), I can't wait to pick one up Quote
Kez Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 FBTB removed the review? I can't find it! I too am also wanting to read it, I take it that FBTB removed their review because the author seemed rather disappointed with the set (probably the spelling error on the flux), read hoth bricks here: http://www.hothbricks.com/2013/07/sans-commentaire/ Quote

The main issues the guy had was the Hood, doors, only one figure fits in the car and that the bumper was the wrong colour (said it should be grey instead of white). He also said he thought it was selfish and incredibly rude that LEGO changed the date from 1955 to 1958. He said that it was like they were trying to shoe horn themselfs into BTTF lore. Overall he said the model sucks and that people should buy it unless they like licence sets. Overall it was incredible negative and seemed really biased. I'm glad that the Brickshow and Brickset both overall liked the set. On a separate note after seeing both the back printing, and the alternate faces to both Marty and Doc I can't wait to get this set. Both figures look incredible and have really been given justice. Is this the first new CUUSOO piece as well? I haven't seen Docs hair in white before. Have any of the over three sets have parts in new colours? If so it's a CUUSOO first. Lastly where will the BTTF review appear? Will it be in Licenced Themes, Special themes or Sci fi? Quote

Biased, incredibly nitpicky and missing the point about the time circuits. C.mon, the bumper is light light grey, and white is a fine substitute... Quote
BrickG Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I've got to admit. The 1988 thing is bothering me... They said 1955 so often in that movie it's ingrained into my skull. Quote
hachiroku Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 When is the set released in the online Lego Shop here, in Europe? Today or August 1st? Quote
PocasNuckie Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) Sooooooooo... I was all nervous thinking to myself, it's 11am where I am , set is for sale since midnight, most likely they are all gone ... and no ... I wake up to find it's not even beeing sold yet ... :( EDIT : I sort of lookup and apparently it will be only for sale on S@H, no matter if Europe or US, on August the 1st, am I correct? EDIT 2 : I am correct, yes. Just checked S@H again, the set is now there as Coming Out on August 1st. I am a bit disapointed :( Edited July 18, 2013 by PocasNuckie Quote
AVCampos Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Yep, 1 of August: http://shop.lego.com...e-machine-21103 Quote
CM4Sci Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 "The Delorean time machine" Seems like a bland name. They could at least call it 'Back to the Future Delorean Time Machine'. -Sci Quote

Sato Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 That misprinted flux capacitor is just......ugh..... I was about to agree with you, and then I saw Lego Shop at Home's ridiculously overcharged price for The Netherlands. Come on Lego €49,99 are you serious? In Germany it's €39,99 and in the UK it's 34,99 pound (Which is about €40,-) I can understand a €10,-/€20,- difference between Germany and The Netherlands when it concerns a Lego Technic Flagship model or something similar in size, But €10,- extra on such a small set is unforgivable. Lego can expect an email with my complaint about this soon. I wanted to get two with the free hot dog cart, But with the august 1 release date that's not gonna happen either. Now I simply won't order any and hope they'll become available for a reasonable price somewhere. (Either Amazon.co.uk or a cheap Dutch online store.) Disappointed in the set itself? Not at all. Disappointed in Lego's asking price here in The Netherlands? Very much indeed. Quote
