Scorpiox Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 "I do not like that Apprentice Atramor intends to go alone for his quest, there is much danger in this, and a slim chance of success. But everything possible must be done if we are to avert the rising of Zoot upon this city. If you are to fall in battle, comrade, I will be sure to cry at your funeral." Haldor claps Atramor on the back, well knowing that this is likely to be the last time that he sees him. The nord turns his gaze to the rest of the group. "So I am to go to the Guffington mansion with this group? Good, these are solid people, they will surely fight to the last breath. We must war for this spire no matter the cost, the fate of many mortals rest upon our shoulders." The shaman slowly looked up into the blackening sky. "And so it begins..." Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 "I'll be with 'ya, Triad. And hopefully that'll be enough," Atramor muttered to himself. He nodded his thanks to Arthur, and held the staff with a vengeance. He'd grown quite sick of the Pongcanis already. "Like I said Alexis, unless you're gonna give it to Arthur, I'd like to use that Ether Core. I understand if 'ya don't wanna give it to me, but seein' as how 'ya can't even sell it at the moment, I was kinda hopin'...and every last thing's gonna be countin'." "Oh it's all yours." Alexis hands him the core. OOC: I shouldn't have ether, and get 44 health. Oh and Arthur get's his lens back too. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Cronk will hand Arthur's Scroll of Frailty to Nyx. Nyx? Thoughts? Quote
Pandora Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 "Aye, I know how suicidal this sounds - Steward of Suicide...hmm.... - but I'll always be able to bail if....things don't go as well as planned. I don't wanna give that bastard somethin' for me to regret, so I figure it's at least worth tryin'." "Atramor, I swear that if you die and lose my staff forever, I will find you and resurrect you, and kill you over and over again in the most painful ways I can dream up. And I'll finally cook your damn chicken. Admittedly I could pick up the staff if I did find you, but I'd still kill you a thousand painful times just on principle. Bottom line, you come back alive. Or else." Nyx's concern for her staff was genuine, but it allowed her to to show some concern for Atramor, something she felt he would scoff at or throw back in her face. "Aside from that, having whatever beastie Wren means to summon have more health is much less worrying than it being more powerful or than it being lucky. I agree with the consensus that rescuing Triad is better than trying to close that spire and that Atramor alone should go. And bloody well come back again." "I fear we're going to be countin' casualties real soon. I don't like thinkin' about it, but it's not something we can go stickin' our heads in the sand about. That bein' said, I don't want the decisions leadin' to those casualties ever havin' to plague Miss Nyx if we make it out of this alive. There are somethings no man or woman should ever have to bear, some miseries that shouldn't be carried." Skrall turned to Nyx, "Not to say you are weak, miss, if anything you have shown quite the contrary, but I would rather that burden fell on my shoulders. Thus, Cronk with yer permission I'll lead the group to go get Mallelio." "Skrall, I don't take offense from that at all, and I hope you know I have faith in you as a leader. I have not forgotten all that you did in that final battle in Dastan. You know you can rely on me, and I would be happy for you to lead the party." Cronk will hand Arthur's Scroll of Frailty to Nyx. Nyx? Thoughts? "Thanks Cronk, and thanks Arthur for the Opal, too. Alexis, seeing as you don't really need it anymore, could I have my Monkey Bar back please? I may still have some use for it sometime. So onto the plan. Well, as I've said I think we're focusing on the right locations. I agree Skrall should head up the second party, and I would like to rescue my friend Mallelio, but I will go wherever is needed. I have been more effective against mechanical beasts chaos beasts before, so I think I'd be better against them. As long as we have a good division of magic users and healers (bearing in mind that we lose one healer in Atramor, but gain one with the Grey Wizard), big hitters and of items, we should be ok. We can do this Cronk, we just have to believe in ourselves." OoC Nyx drank a Mead earlier, so she should be encouraged. Quote

Waterbrick Down Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) The new revelations of what awaited each Party troubled the ogre. He new that in order for them to be the most effective, Nyx was going to have to lead even after her encouraging words to him. If anyone had deserved such responsibility it was her, but Skrall felt uneasy about the costs such responsibility might bring with it. Skrall shook his head before responding to Cronk. "Hmmm, more mechanicals at the obsevatory. Probably means there's going to be a lot of them. CMP Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Atramor nodded in thanks to Alexis, and the Ether Core dissolved almost immediately in his hands. He shuddered - he still wasn't entirely used to using the things, whatever the were. He then turned towards Nyx, and would've chuckled if he thought she was joking in the slightest. "Comin' back alive's pretty important to me too. And believe me, I have no intention of losin' this staff, it's probably the best chance I've got." Quote

Just as they begin to hear noises they begin to see some bodies. A guard lays ripped in half, and a number of learned men are slumped over their work, numerous arrows buried in their backs. They burst into the highest door quickly. One side of it is open-faced, with a small balcony, looking out at the skies. Other than the telescope and the huge number of foes, the room is empty. Mallelio stands cornered. He smiles meekly upon seeing Nyx, but his face is pale, and the party sees he has been cut open above the right hip. "Ah, Nyx. Good to see you. The Southern Tower stands on a high jut of rocks, the city sprawling in front of it, the sea crashing into the cliffs at its back. Atramor finds the door open. Inside there is only one staircase that spirals upwards, old wooden and rickety. He ascends quickly and finally comes to the one room in the tower. The room is filled with Pongcanis. Triad stands, fending off blow after blow, twisting and twirling. She doesn't look as if she's been hit yet. Her eyes (if they can be called that) lock on Atramor when he enters. "You are the one they sent to die with us? Very well. Raise your weapons. We will not go easily. Bal wanted them to write a song about his death. Sasha wanted to die valiantly. Wren never wants to die. We just want to die with the most enemies bleeding around us as possible. Be brave, Atramor."
