"You make a god point Arthur. Maybe if we take the boxes and such off of it it'll be easier to defeat?"

Hoke points to the casks, kegs and crates they moved to the other side of the room.

"Already done my lady."

Atramor rubs his chin, and finally speaks up again.

"Alright, mates, I think I've got it. Someone drop a Smoke Bomb so we can all get out of here. Nyx can give me the Bomb XX with all three X1s attached, I'll drink this Brew, and head back in here to blow up the floor. I'll be Inspired, so I'll survive. Sound like a plan?"

I know I'd be the only one getting experience if we go through with this plan, but I've been sitting on this battle for at least half an hour and I still can't figure it out in a way that doesn't involve getting us all Counterstriken to death, blown up, or waiting enough rounds for Drainage Eli to cause a significant dent in all of our health. :sceptic:

Nyx decides to leave the offering of the gold piece where it is; she figures that stealing from gods probably isn't worth it.

She trundles through Heroica Hall with the other and resists the temptation to ask Scheherezade for a drink. She stands witness to the oddest conversation she's heard for a while as a group of strong heroes work out how to tackle an inanimate object.

"Ah this floor, many times have I regained consciousness on it, and it is quite hard, yes. If you fall on it, it most certainly does hit you back.

But it's still a frickin' floor!

Surely the quickest thing is for us to hit it and hit it hard? Those of use who can deal high damage from the back row need to just bloody well attack and anyone else left with healing capabilities needs to patch up those who are being hit. Is it not that simple? And surely (surely!) counterstriking doesn't affect being hit by magic? I would suggest that McColt encourages me and/or Skrall, or Emperor Phil feeds me one of his Meads and we just get to destroying this thing. Additionally, if someone wants to make me lucky, it wouldn't take me too long to destroy it. If you can't do enough damage to pierce it's shield, then don't bother and you won't get counterstruck."

Nyx grabs her trusty Ruby and prepares to set fire to the insolently silent Floor from the back row.

"The solution is simple. Haldor casts Luck on Cronk until Cronk is Lucky, and then we all hit each other with Healing Staves until my Scarf activates, at which point Sir Cronk and everyone who has a Healing Staff strikes the Jinxed Hero. Once Sir Cronk summons his Guardian Angel, Lady Nyx drops the bomb, and in the meantime Hoke will be healing us with his Spellspins, as long as he uses his Healing Staff like I've asked. Speaking of which, Hoke is a bad, bad choice of someone to have Jinxed, how about Thothwick? It'd give him better odds to Hide." Arthur strikes Thothwick with his Healing Staff.

"Unfortunately, Lady Nyx, I am fairly certain that even spells will cause Counterstrike damage."

"That's far from simple, mate. We'd each be down at least 8 health and ether if your plan works perfect, and even then, it's a risk. If ya' fail to hit one of us, or if Cronk doesn't roll Guardian Angel in time, we're in trouble. And don't go settin' the hall on fire yet Nyx, we still need to figure out a strategy that doesn't involve gettin' us killed. That thing will hit us every time we hit it, magic or not."

"Actually, that's not an awful idea, Nyx...what does everyone else think of that? Nyx and Hoke could just batter this thing to splinters easy, as long as they're Encouraged and Lucky."

"Aye, I can help you out here."

Haldor casts the lucky effect on Cronk twice, until he is successful, and if he is on the first go, he will attempt to make Nyx lucky also.

"Encourage me, make me lucky and heal me when needed and then let me destroy this damn floor. I have the blessing from the shrine to counteract the health loss, and if brave Sir Poletad gets lucky he can restore some Ether. Even if I get counterstruck from my magical attack, I can still withstand the damage from the back row and attack with full strength with magic from the back row. Anyone else who can do the same, should do the same. Anyone who can heal, should be tasked with healing with conditions that they don't heal if it isn't necessary. Having Poletad higher in the list of healers means he might replenish ether, followed by Cronk in case his angel shows up, followed by other healers in case both of those things happen and healing is still needed. Just make me lucky before I hit the floor (so to speak) so I don't end up defeated by a damn floor."

Hoke moves over to Nyx. He takes her hand, raises it up and bows to give it a light kiss.

"Shall we dance my lady?"

Sapphire, Floor, Back row (Twin Broadswords).

(Make me lucky, encouraged, inspired and all of that! Whack me with a healing staff every once in a while).

Wait, why are we not using consumbales? Cronk can't stand them, but it should be fine for everyone else...and this IS the final fight...

"Hey, Alexis, honey, mind giving Hoke a Nostrum? Skrall, could you give yours to Lady Nyx? Hel, I wouldn't say no to a Nostrum, either. Next Round we can move to Meads, and after that Smelling Salts."

"Oh, and someone give Haldor an Ether Core or a Grand Tonic or something, we need his Scroll capabilities."

Please note that this is not actually the final fight... that was clearly a joke... because this is a f*%king floor.

Oh...I see. When you said it was the final fight, I figured you just had a cutscene for the finale.

"On second thought, let's not waste our consumables. Haldor still needs an Ether Core if he wants to cast anything, though."

"Emperor Phil, I do think it would be a good idea to give Lady Nyx or Sir Hoke a Mead. Sir Cronk, please put me at some point after Sir Hoke and Lady Nyx, so that I may heal their wounds if you and Sir Poletad fail." Arthur readies his healing staff to heal Hoke or Nyx, whichever has the least amount of remaining health.

"Hoke I think those chains of yers might come in handy right about now, and Arthur, I think we'll make it through without havin' to use too many of our consumables. In order to save everyone some health and ether, might I suggest that those with rougish tendencies flee the scene till we've cleared this thing out of the way?"

(Counter-striking doesn't occur if someone rolls damage, correct?)

Cronk is confused. What is plan again? Never mind, Cronk has plan.

Hoke, equip Chains of Pongcanis Chieftain this round. Then bash with Twin Broadswords directly from front row.

Atramor, would it be too much to ask that Atramor use Pongcanis brew on Hoke? Hoke could give Atramor Hoke's brew after battle.

Alexis, please use one turn to make Hoke drink nostrum as well.

Hoke should be well equipped to take on floor next round.

Other than those actions, friends that can heal should heal, only bashing if there are no friends left to heal. Keep in mind that friends that must fight in front row will need healing more.

Bashers should bash.

Cronk will try to heal friend Hans from back row. If Hans does no need healing, Cronk will try to heal friend with lowest health.

Poletad wil heal friend Phil from back row. If Phil does not require healing, Poletad heals friend with lowest health.

Hans and Phil will both bash floor from front row.

Gnash, please do nothing. Sadly friend cannot penetrate SP. Rest for upcoming battle.

McColt, encourage Nyx.

Order:

Hans

Hoke

Atramor

Alexis

McColt

Nyx

Skrall

Dyric

Phil

Thothwick

Alexis

Arthur

Atramor

Poletad

Cronk

Haldor

Has Cronk forgotten any friend?

Atramor nods to Cronk, and instead feeds Hoke the Pongcanis Brew from the back row.

"Mate, are ya' sure about this? I think only Nyx and Hoke should fight at all, this thing can hit hard for a floor..."

Considering it's a floor, I don't think it should technically be hitting at all...

OOC: Sorry if it seems like I'm giving this battle a lot of flak, Zeph. In all honesty, this is one of the best battles I have ever seen in Heroica, and is supremely amusing.

Arthur nods and uses his Healing Staff on Hoke if he has 25 Health or less, otherwise he uses it on the party member with the lowest health.

If some friends want to not bash, that is fine. Cronk can see wisdom in friends that cannot damage floor much holding off to conserve strength for Wren. But healers should try to heal. Not all will be successful.

"Sir Cronk, Lady Nyx is virtually guaranteed to take serious damage from the floor no matter what she does. Perhaps it would be best if we Inspire her as well? Haldor has some Mulled Wine, I believe, if my nose does not mislead me."

Posted (edited)

"Hmm....I've got another idea, mates. We use Arthur's first idea - that is, he Jinxes one of us with his Healing Staff while another, Lucky ally does the same, except instead of Cronk, we use Haldor. His Blood Rituals will keep all of us in perfect health while draining the life out of the floor at the same time."

"It should cause me 25 damage at the most leaving me with a little left over, as I'll be attacking from the back row (that would account for a counterstrike and me taking damage, and there is a 1/3 chance of that happening) so it's not that bad, and would be improved if I'm lucky. I'll never say no to wine, and Mr Hoke I should enjoy dancing with you, and it's true I dance better after a drink but I should feel bad about drinking Haldor's reserve. I shall leave the decision up to you Cronk. I stand ready to attack as before should you wish me to."
