The Legonater Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I think beautiful is a relative term, Wren. "Show of hands, who saw that coming?" grumbles Atramor. I could have made money on that. "No, I speak to those dearest to me: my brother, and my love. Dyric. Alexis. You may both Flee. I encourage you to do so. I will cover your escape. If not, I will remain until you decide to leave, however long that takes. I will devote all of my effort to protect you both from harm. But do not ask me to raise my weapon against the Goddess I now serve. I do not agree with all she did to get here, but now that She has risen, She shall be a force for good. Even if you do not agree with me, I beg of you, please respect my beliefs enough not to interfere with my decision." Regulus, brother, you know I cannot do that. As always we walk the same yet opposite paths. I cannot run as Wren rises, as the Heroes and Wren Hunters make their valiant last battle. This hour shall change generations, Arthur, you must see that - thou I do not attempt to change your mind. I know now that is all but impossible. I do not mean this in offence, but you are perhaps one of the most stubborn men I know. Haldor might beat you there, though. In both senses of the word. I still welcome what help you give. Hard as it is for me, I do not hold this against you. You only do your duty, whether you see its harm or not. I know the cost and reason of such actions. Alas - Wren must fall, Heroica must rise. I fire an arrow at Beast H from the back. Quote
Zepher Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 OoC: Skall was also hastened and according to Wren's special I can choose which effect to lose and I'd prefer to lose hastened over encouraged. CorneliusMurdock Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Cronk cannot say that Cronk is surprised. Cronk has always worried about Arthur's sanity. And now Cronk's fears have come to fruition. Wren is no goddess, Arthur. If Wren were, friends could not defeat Wren. Goddesses cannot be killed. Wren will be. Do not be a fool, Arthur. Here is a plan. Lucky and encouraged means that Wren could KO any friend this round. But if Poletad were to try to heal Wren, Wren would still be targeted. Friends can take care of beasts this round and when Angel returns, friends can bash Wren bunches. Any friend have better idea? Quote

Flipz Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) Haldor couldn't contain his surprise, but it quickly turned to anger. "Arthur, how could you? I trusted you, I trusted you with my life, you pathetic little bastard. How dare you call yourself a hero if this is what you intended all along?! I called you brother, and this is how you repay me?! Are you so damn blinded by your beliefs that you would sacriface your own humanity to satisfy your stupid desires? Are this time, I helped you, I fought alongside you - but now I wish that I had never you deserving anything other than death. This witch is out of control, the fact that you now announce that you serve her makes you worse than her on so many levels." The nord laughed savagely. "Ha, how you squirm! You call yourself an expert but are so woefully ignorant that you know nothing of true chaos. Wren will never be a force for good, she cares only for herself. If we allow her to succeed then there will be no Eubric left for anyone. If I ever see you again masquerading as a 'hero' once this is all over, I shall feed you your own cowardly sympathies on the end of an axeblade. Wait, why wait untill then? I might as well take your worthless existance, right here, right now." The shaman screams a cry horrifically. His eyes are red, his teeth bared. "Okay, fine, we can skin the bastard once his oh-so-precious goddess is dead." Haldor stopped himself, and turned back towards the foes. But as one final touch, in monument to the drastic change of emotions that had occurred, the nord spat directly and venomously into the spellcaster's face. It was all over now, there was nothing left but hate. Haldor vented his fury at Chaos Beast J twice from the front row. Arthur calmly wipes the saliva off his face, but does not retaliate. "Wren is not Zoot. She does not want to destroy anything. That alone makes her better for this world than Zoot will ever be. I do not expect you to understand, you are a man of passion and purpose. To see Wren as anything other than a menace would make you someone other than who you are. I am saddened, however, that you would attack a noncombatant just for disagreeing with you." "Let me put it more simply. Out of loyalty to you Heroes, I will not attack you. Out of loyalty to Wren, I will not attack her. Does that make my position clear for everyone?" I still welcome what help you give. Hard as it is for me, I do not hold this against you. You only do your duty, whether you see its harm or not. I know the cost and reason of such actions. Waterbrick Down Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 "My Lady." Arthur bows serenely. "This is where I leave you, Heroes. My Goddess' ascention is complete. No more will her actions threaten the city or the people I love. It is finished." "I will remain until those I love are safe--or at least, the ones I love who may still be saved. I mean no disrespect to you, Wren Hunters, I love you dearly, but I will not insult your beliefs by suggesting you betray them in flight. I neither blame you, nor judge you; here we simply part ways, I hope as friends. I hope with all of my heart that you understand. The same holds for you, Skrall, Hoke, Haldor. To those who hate me, I do not expect you to change your ways; just know that I do not hate you, and neither do I wish you to meet your demise. I will neither hinder you, nor bother you further. May you find your own way." "No, I speak to those dearest to me: my brother, and my love. Dyric. Alexis. You may both Flee. I encourage you to do so. I will cover your escape. Skrall sighed, he remembered when he had first gotten to know the young mage, even then he had noted his countenance of misery. The pain, the betrayal, the hounding, and persecution had come too early and too often upon the young man's shoulder and soul. Skrall spoke quietly, yet with firmness. "Arthur, you speak of things you do not completely understand, things that none of us comprehend in their entirety, not even Wren. She will not stop, nigh she cannot stop even if she wished to. Eubric, the people you love, the world, will all devolve into the void. She is but a mortal attempting to turn the very fabric of nature upon its head, even she cannot succeed. Some things no matter even if we attained godhood could we alter. I know what it is you wish, but it is a thing that cannot be. Yes for a moment it may appear that your deepest desires have come true, but they cannot last. You speak of good, yet what good is there in a world in which goodness itself may vary it's appearance or display simply in obedience to the whim of ones such as we or even Wren. I know what I am, I am not good, my failings are many, my weaknesses deep, and my inadequacy great, I have never been one for lofty morals or mindless bigotry, but even I can not change my deeds into something they are not, just as Wren and you cannot change the nature of that which you wish to control. No Arthur, I do not hate you, but I bid you caution in aligning yourself with that which cannot last or be." "Haldor, stay your blade. It takes many years and many trials, to become content with the way the world is. Slake your anger upon Wren, she has chosen her path to the uttermost and we must ensure the end of her path does not come to pass." Quote

She is too unpredictable, and thus we cannot allow her to gain the godhood that she desires. She has done nothing to deserve such power, and I can be almost certain that she would abuse it. You are wrong about her, she is so far gone that the witch cannot even control herself. Wren as a goddess? There are few things more frightening than a power-crazed lunatic with unlimited power roaming around the place. Pandora Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 OoC: The round is ready to be run when Nyx checks in! If she doesn't in a few hours, I'll run it without her. OoC: I was still half-expecting you to run the rest of the last round. "I cannot see the future at this time. Therefore, I must make the best judgements I can, deciding my actions as I go along. We will see what is in store, and we will see who is correct about Wren: me or you." Nyx visualises picking Arthur up by the throat, legs dangling, before throwing him into a corner, but knows that such an action would be counter-productive. Instead she takes a deep breath, and tries... to talk. "It might surprise you to know that I've listened to your ramblings. Maybe you are right and Wren is a true and beautiful goddess, but really, I doubt it. I only have to look at all the things she was willing to do in order to get to this point. All the lives she destroyed, whether those people be living or dead. Her past deeds are too awful to be balanced by anything she may do now. But you have faith in her beneficence? Enough faith to put it to the test? I firmly believe that Wren would claw at our backs if we merely decided to walk away and let her carry on. She will not let us live. But would she let you, a true follower live? Why not step up and take a free hit from her. Either she doesn't strike you and you protect those you care about (along with a number of the rest of us), or we're proved extremely right and don't have to listen to you going on about it all the time. Put your money where your mouth is. Otherwise, as Haldor said, shut up and/or bugger off." Jeez Zeph, I was posting, and you only gave it 40 mins! Quote
Zepher Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 If you want to retcon your hit and pass it along to someone else that you would have targeted, I trust you'll be honest! And yes, 24 hour rule. Quote
Scorpiox Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) Arthur stands contemplatively. The words of Skrall and the conviction of Haldor had moved him in spite of himself. But he could not turn his back on the force of salvation for Eubric...could he? He shook his head. "I cannot see the future at this time. Therefore, I must make the best judgements I can, deciding my actions as I go along. We will see what is in store, and we will see who is correct about Wren: me or you. And then we will make new decisions. That is the way of life. That is how it must be." "I can tell you for free that you've made the wrong choice, but it's almost too late now. Whatever happens, you'd be lucky to keep your place in the hall and your ill-deserved title of hero once we've saved the world. Either way, I would hazard a guess that no-one will want to come withing 50 feet of your sorry @rse. You've really screwed this one up, Arthur, you've gone and thrown your whole damn life away because of one foolish judgement. When the time comes and we, yes we, not you, return victorious, you'll have to find yourself a little wee hole to crawl away into; alone." Haldor attacks Chaos Beast I twice from the front row. Pandora Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 OoC: I was made lucky, so was there another roll for me last round? Nyx attacks the Chaos Beast with the lowest health with Light magic from the back row, only if healed. Quote
