Buckshot Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Well, I can tell you from experience that there are no buxom babes in Evony. I played it for a while (beta was called Civony; that morphed into Evony), and I can also say that the game isn't all that great. Don't let the pretty digital girl tempt you! As for the ads, I honestly didn't notice them until reading this thread. Quote
5150 Lego Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Whats the big deal? Its an add for a game with a girl showing a little bit of cleavage. Big deal. I've seen worse walking down the street in my neighborhood. And even if they wanted to do something about it, they can't. As said before,Google chooses the adds. not the administration. Quote
GRUMBLECAKES Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 If you guys thought these were bad, stay away from the banner ads on videogame ROM download sites. Quote
The Who Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 The funny thing about these Evony ads, is that despite the amount of digital boobage on display, the game promises to be 'unnoticeable' so you can play discreetly from your web browser I guess "Sex Sells"Curbside service. That's illegal, you know. If you guys thought these were bad, stay away from the banner ads on videogame ROM download sites. Why? What are they about? Quote
The Alchemyst Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 If they're bothersome, do what I do. Get Firefox. Get Ad-blocker. Done. [-TA-] Quote
______ Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 If websites get money from these ads then who is clicking them ?... Quote
prateek Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 As others said before, just ignore it. I don't even notice them most of the time. Quote
GRUMBLECAKES Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Why? What are they about? Why don't you try to go find a download of Super Mario World or Earthbound and find out for yourself? :P Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I hadn't actually noticed that their were adverts on this site and I have been a member for a fair while now! Scrolling down the advert that is displayed at the moment is "plentyoffish.com" Some sort of dating site.... Quote
Sir Dano Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Why don't you try to go find a download of Super Mario World or Earthbound and find out for yourself? :P Can't be any worse than the banner ads on porn sites. Quote
Rubén Riojas Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 There's one MUCH worse than what you guys could think of, it says somehing like "Serial Killers For Dummies" and dispays a first-person-view of a hand with a knife cutting some dummy dolls' head and legs and then giving points for it!!!! You can't see it over there unless you live in a sapnish-speaking place and go to MOCpages; ads are mad over there. but Sean doesn't control that Quote
TeddiGramz Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Can't be any worse than the banner ads on porn sites. Erk, no comment... Currently the banner is this: Lego: OK for Kids? Parents: Should Your Kids Visit Lego? Read Our Free Review Now What is that supposed to mean? They way they word makes it sound like an unhealthy food or something Quote
Commander Flash Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 I went to it once. It just said that they are trying to market sets online on a 'kids' site, which happens to be a place to order lego Quote
Zorro Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Please don't use Eurobricks solely to advertise a new blog. Quote
GRUMBLECAKES Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Well, there's one thing I can say now- I like adbots less then banner ads, and I like banner ads less then TV ads with annoying jingles, and I like TV ads with annoying jingles less then being hit with blunt objects by screaming autistic people wearing clown costumes (no actual offense intended at autistic people in general- just at the ones who wear clown costumes and hit people with blunt objects). Lt. Col. Thok Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 That last comment was totally unnecessary...... Anyhoo, I just wanted to post to let people know that our boards have been invaded with Megabloks ads. Just thought you should know. Quote
Commander Flash Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Thanks for the warning. Uh oh... MEGABLOKS! Too bad we can't control the ads... Quote
Peppermint_M Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 They are just adverts... It's not like someone is going to jump out of your computer and march you to a shop to force you to purchase a product... This is what confuses me whenever someone complains about something/someone (Jeremy Clarkson, Radio DJs, Adverts, TV programmes ets) you aren't forced to look at it. At the very least you can avert your eyes... Ho hum Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 They are just adverts... It's not like someone is going to jump out of your computer and march you to a shop to force you to purchase a product... But it was an advert for the new Halo line... Mind you, you have got a point. I was, however, just pointing something out. Quote
The Who Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 They are just adverts... It's not like someone is going to jump out of your computer and march you to a shop to force you to purchase a product...True. I'd get a refund on those Megablocks anyway. This is what confuses me whenever someone complains about something/someone (Jeremy Clarkson, Radio DJs, Adverts, TV programmes ets) you aren't forced to look at it. At the very least you can avert your eyes...I don't know about other people, but my computer is really old and often scrolls immediately after loading to the bottom of the page. So, no, looking at them is not always an option. But I do still see your point, nobody is forcing me to be a member here, so it basically still is an option. Quote
Millacol88 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Right now it's an advertisement for leather couches at Sears. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Right now it's an advertisement or leather couches at Sears. Not a leather couch!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhh.... *smack* Back on topic.... What you say is true. No one is forcing us to look at these ads; however, they do draw ones eyes to them.... Quote
HumanPackMule Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 I keep getting ads for eating disorders. I feel stalked Quote
