efferman Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 a silly question: the top 100 which gets the genious boss has made the most votes, or did they get the most votes? Quote
JaapTechnic Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 a silly question: the top 100 which gets the genious boss has made the most votes, or did they get the most votes? i think the last one, because the first one is a bit silly?!? Quote
hrontos Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) a silly question: the top 100 which gets the genious boss has made the most votes, or did they get the most votes? First option would be really funny. There were some guys who commented and also probably voted for each entry. Of course, top 100 entries with most votes should be rewarded. What is not known is if they will take into account only valid entries. And imagine that crane crawler that Alasdair made as a joke is a perfectly valid entry and probably made it to the top 100. :-))))) Edited March 25, 2013 by hrontos Quote
rumpletump Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 My understanding was TLG were going to first pick the top 100 entries and then narrow it down to a top 10.. It makes sense that the top 100 were the highest voted at the date of deadline, but also they should have weeded out all the non compliant entries along the way so they were picking the top ten from 100 legit entries.. Otherwise it would have been very unfair to the people who took the time to do follow the rules to not get a chance. So from that is how I imagine the top 100 should be chosen.. Quote
JaapTechnic Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 maybe my landrover caused some problems because it was too realistic. but i think i should definitely be on that list. i didn't use stickers or any other things. it is looking like a landrover but it is not a landrover for now we only can hope that we are on that list... PsyKater Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I did not get the confusion about the 100 free sets as it was stated clear in the rules. That's why I looked for them to quote them here, but I can't find them. But I found this: Online voting opens on 09 February and closes on January 22. The winning design will be announced on 22 February 2013. No further prizes will be awarded. Now I am confused as well However I've read several times that the 100 top contributions will get a free set. And if rm88 repeats it all the time it has to be true. He is in direct contact with the competition hosts. So keep calm and wait. I know how hard it is. Quote

Read November 7 blog post. http://technic.us.lego.com/en-us/Designers/Blog/Default.aspx Hope they select only "rules agree" top 100 models. It is intersting: how many sets will receive modellers who appeared several times at top 100 with DIFFERENT models? P.s. Thats my thoughts, not official information! crazy_1993 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 (edited) I'm not going to lie, I don't believe that that they are still giving away these sets. This is because in the official competition instructions it says that the only prize awarded is the production of the winning model and that "no further prizes will be awarded". Unfortunately I think that this is a more reliable source of information than the blog. Many people would say that Lego will not go back on their word, but they have already directly contradicted themselves so I think that that was to say that they decided against the top 100 getting a set idea long ago. I am more optimistic.TLG always distributes many copies of a new set to many people and LUGs just for testing and review purposes, to catch some possible errors etc. So may be they really decided to distribute part of the production dedicated for this purpose to the competition participants. And this competition was always presented as PR action for the fans and not as a money maker, so they could have decided to invest 0.5% of the income from this set into participants. Of course, in money it is a lot of money, but as 0.5% it is not that high percentage. After all, they will not sale it through traditional shops, so whole profit from the sale will go to TLG. I am pretty sure, that traditional retailers get much more than 0.5% of the recommended price. Quote

I would like to think so but I just don't see a motive for Lego contradicting themselves if they were still planning to do this. It seems to me that someone working for Lego realised that it was a terrible economical mistake to award sets to the top 100 so tried to contradict it and hope no one noticed the earlier post. Also the top 100 voted entries is almost the majority of the total number of entries. Quote

So it looks like they really will ship the model to the top 100. Quote

hrontos Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I got the email too! And remember I had tracks insetad of wheels! That's great. This means top 100 most popular entries will get the prize and not only those fully conforming rules. I wonder if they filtered completely off-topic entries. Quote
rm8 Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 Congratulations:) hope I will receive it first. :p Quote
