DLuders Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 (edited) ASSUMING that "The Boss" is the winner of the 2012 Lego Technic Competition (since it has a >500 vote lead with one day of voting left), what CHANGES or REFINEMENTS (if any) should The Lego Group make to the body? Should there be a different body color scheme (besides black and yellow), different or additional functionality, or leave is "as-is"? Note rm8's suggested "Color Variations" below, and his "Lite", "Extreme", and "Offroad" trim levels: Edited January 21, 2013 by DLuders Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I think it should be up to the original builder in conjunction with lego. Quote
DLuders Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Well yes, of course, but since TLG wants to sell 20,000 copies of the set, what do YOU the CONSUMER prefer? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 None as they are all boring 4x4's.... There is nothing technical about them except the motors that are diving them. Quote
DLuders Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 @ Alasdair Ryan: 1,489 people disagree with you. rm8's The Boss will make a fine limited-edition set. Is black really the only color it could/should be? Quote
Boxerlego Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) I think this would look awesome in teal. Black frame not red. And some chrome pieces. Edited January 22, 2013 by Boxerlego Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I like one of the white and blue variations. Quote
timslegos Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Congrats for earning 1400+ votes! I think an orange theme would look awesome. tim Quote
Gene Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) I've suggested a limited edition production of each colour x 5,000pcs. Make the distribution a surprise one or have an indication marking for differentiation. All colors should be sort after. rm8 didn't settle on the decals yet. I'm thinking of stripe, lines, mud splashed and big numbers silk-screen printed on clear stickers can add-on to the uniqueness. Edited January 22, 2013 by Gene Quote
legotechnicblue Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I like it. It could be any kind of car just by looking at it. One little detail like the grille and headlights and that's the rejection? Shame on u lego! Quote
Samanen Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I'd like to see the "extreme" version in white & blue. Quote
Ondra Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) @ Alasdair Ryan: 1,489 people disagree with you. rm8's The Boss will make a fine limited-edition set. Is black really the only color it could/should be? Did you mean 1489 russians? Edited January 22, 2013 by Ondra Quote
Paul Boratko Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 All orange with black or white stripes would be cool as well...Reintroduce some of those ultra rare 9L and 11L liftarms... Quote
rm8 Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) Did you mean 1489 russians? that s not funny Ondra, stop that jokes please. Go build something good. If you think that 1500 - all russians you are wrong, wrong as those who say that that boss is the same as original 9398. Edited January 22, 2013 by rm8 Quote
z3_2drive Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Did you mean 1489 russians? yes that's not really nice, many people that are not from Russia voted for BOSS, still could've won without them...as for color, I'd like Orange or Blue... both are nice colors I could use for future mocs Quote
jadedomg Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Did you mean 1489 russians? I live in canada and originally the philippines and I voted boss :) I love classic muscle cars and putting it on the crawler just makes it look amazing. Nothing russian about me. I voted for the boss because Brick built photos represent it much better than a LDD model does Videos showing how well it works Controlled use of parts to achieve a excellent design without just throwing piles of bricks on it The small off road attachments of lights and front push bar are excellent. I love classic cars It annoys me that people complain that the boss shot up in votes, getting support for the model and having more people see the competition is good for lego as a whole as more people who see the competition the more possible sales lego has. I would love to see the model in blue the most :) Quote
rumpletump Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Well it's about 1 hour to go and it looks like you should win... CONGRATULATIONS rm8  Quote
MarkusOSX Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I'm not sure which color I would prefer but PP-Wheels would be a great gift to the Lego community. BTW congratulations to you rm8. Quote
legotechnicblue Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Yes. Congrats. You never gave up and won by a mile What is the difference between extreme and offroad Quote
DLuders Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 The final vote tally was pretty convincing: Quote
D3K Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Congratulations! Hope you will keep us updated about how you will together with TLG develop the final design! Really hope the "Off-Road kit" will be included! As this will be an actual official set, have you thought about persoonalizing it even more, with regards to sticker design? Quote
rm8 Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) I prefer to wait till official announcement Edited January 23, 2013 by rm8 Quote
