Monster Inc. is probably my favorite and I am psyched to find out there's a sequel! Also the Toy Story movies are not half bad and I am happy to own a few sets. As the Disney sets (in particular Toy Story, Cars, Prince of Persia) are always really well made, it would be awesome to get some Monster sets - but I believe we would know by now, right? Sadly this movie is not covered by sets, but Planes is: 10509, 10510, 10511.

It's actually a prequel, not a sequel. I imagine the story is going to be quite different from the first movie, too.

As much as I despised the Cars theme, I would actually like to see some Planes system sets, but they only have Duplo for now. I love Airplanes and stuff, so I just would not put the stickers. The Spy Jet Escape set was bad, though.

I hate to BUMP my own thread up, but a new trailer for Monster's University has shown up.

MUCH better than the last one.

Better than the last trailer or the last movie? 'Cause I wouldn't judge a movie by its trailer (I still can't make out what exactly the story is), but yes, this movie looks fun. Can't wait to see another truly funny Pixar movie (which we haven't seen since Ratatouille)! :sweet: Thanks for sharing.

While I have already posted about it in a different thread, I may as well post it here as it is relevant. I went to see Wreck-it Ralph today in the cinema with my GF. As with most of Pixar's films, I really enjoyed it. In my opinion it is one of the best of Pixar's films, up there with the likes of the first two Toy Story films (I didn't like the 3rd one (and of course I know I will probably get a lot of hate for it, but oh well)) and Up. It's a film I would gladly see more than once.

I also liked it that Pixar once again took the time to make an animated short before the film. This one was called Paperman (or something like that) and was an interesting little short. It was also extremely appropriate for Valentine's Day.

As for the Monsters University trailer, this one is a lot better and much more exciting than the initial trailer. I am very excited for this Pixar film, as I am when I see the trailers for most Pixar films.

*EDIT* Ignore everything about Wreck-it Ralph being a Pixar film. I made a ridiculous mistake.

 Wreck-it-Ralph is from Disney Animation Studios, not Pixar, and neither is Paperman. But yes, they were both great. I'd say that Disney is doing better than Pixar at the moment. Let's see if Monsters 2 will change that.

And you didn't like Toy Story 3? What's wrong with you?!? :poke:

 As if I actually made that mistake. I blame the animation style. It was so similar to Pixar's animation style. As for Toy Story 3, it didn't have the same feel to it that made the other two so good in my opinion. Also, I didn't think that they needed to make a third one; it would have been fine if they had left it at two Toy Story films.

True, I guess, but that could be said about any sequel. I think it was so well crafted and rounded out the story so nicely that it's a worthy addition to the series. Yes, it was a bit more depressing than the other two, but it was also more mature. One of the great things about the Toy Story series is that it matured with its audience. Kids who grew up with the first Toy Story are at about the same age as Andy now, which makes the movies relatable, while newer generations can enjoy it as well.

In fact, TS3 wrapped up the story so nicely that as much as I love Toy Story, I don't think I'd want them to make another sequel. And a prequel just wouldn't work simply because Buzz wouldn't be in it.

Here's a new MU poster:

MU_Bleachers_Online_1s_w2.0-690x1024.jpg

Lots of interesting characters here, but the one that intrigues me the most is that nerdy Randal in the corner there. He was kind of a two dimensional character in the first movie, and it would make for a pretty good backstory for him to be the nerd who always gets bullied by jocks like Sully which leads to him hating Sully so much and becoming a bully himself later on. Nice work, Pixar! I'm getting more excited about this movie the more I see of it!

Thanks for the news, Oky! It is indeed a very interesting poster. I'm interested to see where this film goes!

The one Pixar Film that really deserves a sequel at the moment is The Incredibles. There is so many paths to go down and so many possible stories to tell. I love all Pixar films especially Toy story 1,2 and 3, but I think after MU they need to revisit The Incredibles. While I would enjoy a Toy Story 4 they should leave it a good few years and follow up on some other characters.

The Incredibles has deserved a sequel since it was released due to the fact that Pixar left the ending so open with a lot of room for a potential sequel. As for Toy Story, I seriously hope they do not make a Toy Story 4. The series is fine with 3 and making a 4th would just be milking it in my opinion.

New trailer for Planes... basically the first trailer but with Dane Cook instead of John Cryer...

Toy Story 4 would probably not be a good idea IMO.

I don't get the problem people have with Brave.

true, it's a bit to much disney, but merida's hair and the scottish voice acting were awesome.

I think the problem that I and many other people have with Brave is that it didn't live up to expectations. Based on the trailers, we were expecting something epic and new, and what we got instead is mostly just a hodgepodge of Disney movies that we've seen a million times before. Sure, the movie was well done in every other aspect and deserves its Oscar for the great visuals alone, but it just wasn't up to Pixar's standard of original storytelling, especially compared to Disney Animation Studio's recent works. I think this review sums up my thoughts about it pretty well:

I think this review sums up my thoughts about it pretty well:

I agree. I really enjoyed the film because I lowered my expectations due to the disappointment that was Cars 2. I'll do the same with Monsters University and try not to hype it up.

Also, I never knew you were a TGWTG fan, Oky!

Yeah, that's probably a good idea.

And yes, I love the Nostalgia Critic as well as the Angry Video Game Nerd. I'm so glad the Critic is back and can't wait for the AVGN movie! They are my inspiration for my own reviews, even though I'm not even nearly as angry as them.

I thought that Brave was good, and I didn't have to lower my expectations for it. I had seen the trailer beforehand, and while it did take a somewhat different route to the film, I still think we got something epic and new. As for incorporating past Disney story lines, that's close to inevitable with the amount of films Disney has made. I was also impressed by Cars 2, which I thought was better than the original because of the weird spy story line. I'm hoping that Monsters University doesn't disappoint when it comes out.

Yeah, that's probably a good idea.

You love the Nostalgia Critic too? Have you seen his review of "Quest for Camelot"? Talk about rage  .

As stupid as it sounds, there's something about sequels that makes me excited!

I can't wait for it actually

I am done with Pixar. Too many gosh darn sequels!

Finding Dory. Really?

Goodness gracious me! They're forcing you to watch it? That's terrible... :hmpf:

Sounds interesting, to say the least. I recall liking Finding Nemo, so it'll be good to see those characters back again. Fingers crossed for Bruce! :cry_happy:
