June 8, 20168 yr I love Pixar films, but let's talk about how too many Pixar movies don't have gender equality & fail the Bechdal test, despite them being made by a multimillion dollar company that has made so many imaginative worlds. The Incredibles, Brave, Toy Story 3 & A Bug's Life all pass the test while the rest fail.

Also, I find the Bechdal test to be really inconsistent. A film about two male characters isn't guaranteed to pass the Bechdal test, yet probably isn't in any way sexist or misogynistic. I'm certain young girls enjoy Toy Story for reasons other than it fills out the criteria for succeeding the Bechdal test. If we used the Bechdal test to review whether a movie was good or bad, I think the type of movies we herald as being classic would be much different. This is more or less a non-issue in my mind.

Please let's not. I'm so tired of today's SJW culture where everybody is offended by everything. Pixar films are great movies and not meant to discriminate anyone (in fact, I'd argue the opposite), no matter if they pass some test or not, so just relax and enjoy the movie.

Please lets not do that. Eurobricks really isn't the place to be discussing social and political issues anyways. Now if we want to talk about Lego sets as per the course in EB; yes quite a few fail that ratio. I mean one female Toa in a team of six? What is up with that? June 8, 20168 yr Indeed, Lego is a much bigger offender when it comes to gender equality, so please direct your complaints there if you must. I'm sure there is a thread about this somewhere on here. Back on topic, here is our first look at the short film Piper which will be shown in front of Finding Dory. Looks like it will be as amazing as every other Pixar short!
June 9, 20168 yr That's cute. Animation has come a long way...I'm just sitting here remembering the short about the birds on a wire, and realizing how much better animation is now.

June 9, 20168 yr You know, for a moment there I thought that was a live action film. The sand looks so real! And those things on the left of the first picture look as though someone's taken a picture of them. I really hope this realism is continued in future installments.
June 10, 20168 yr Back in my day we get a weird ball, feathers, and googley eyes and we liked it! Oh I love the weird blue Bird-Things. My favorite may be Geri's Game, one of the first ones, I believe. I was just noting the evolutionary process.
June 10, 20168 yr Right now I am watching all the Pixar movies leading up to Finding Dory, really exited to see it! Last night I was thinking of the upcoming Pixar movies, and that got me thinking about an Inside Out 2. Would you guys like an Inside Out 2. I personally like the idea.

Haha, true, Pixar's animation (and CG animation in general) has come a long way. The photorealistic environments and textures already stood out in The Good Dinosaur and you can see it in the trailers for Finding Dory as well, like the little particles in the water, the shine on the fish scales, etc. Oh I love the weird blue Bird-Things. My favorite may be Geri's Game, one of the first ones, I believe. Yeah, Geri's Game is also still my favorite after all this time. It's been nearly 19 years since that came out! Right now I am watching all the Pixar movies leading up to Finding Dory, really exited to see it! Last night I was thinking of the upcoming Pixar movies, and that got me thinking about an Inside Out 2. Would you guys like an Inside Out 2. I personally like the idea. I definitely think there is some potential for an Inside Out sequel, but considering most of their films for the next few years are going to be sequels, I'd rather see another original film instead.
June 11, 20168 yr ^Well... Inside Out actually would work perfectly well with a sequel without it feeling cash-grabby. *cough* Cars 2 & 3, Monsters University *cough*. Not many Pixar movies seem written so a sequel's existence would make sense without it feeling like "we could make a franchise out of this and make MONEY!" The other would be The Incredibles 2.
June 11, 20168 yr I think there's definitely room for personal growth in the Inside Out host. Is her name Riley? So, yes. Lots of room for a sequel. Hopefully it's not too soon though. long as it's not "Outside In" with all the emotions escaping, I think it would work.
June 20, 20168 yr Just came back from seeing Finding Dory. It was great! Perhaps not as good as the original, but for a sequel it was very good. Not quite Toy Story sequel levels of good, but definitely better than The Good Dinosaur. I loved Hank the Octopus and the seals, and the rendering and animation were gorgeous! And as expected, Piper was amazing too! As long as Pixar makes their sequels with such quality, I'm ok with them. I'd say definitely check it out and make sure to stay after the credits!
June 21, 20168 yr to stay after the credits! NOOOOOO!!!!!!! What have I missed!? I waited until the "Official Credits" started, because I wanted to watch every bit of animation, but I didn't think they'd pull a Marvel!
June 21, 20168 yr NOOOOOO!!!!!!! What have I missed!? I waited until the "Official Credits" started, because I wanted to watch every bit of animation, but I didn't think they'd pull a Marvel! There was a scene where the gang from the Dentist's office floated by the Marine Life Institute, still in their bags. They cheer for having made it all the way to California, just to be captured by the humans a moment later. Plus another funny little bit with the seals. Good stuff.
June 21, 20168 yr Hm. I wish I'd seen it, but at the same time, I was happy that Finding Dory didn't have do too many needless cameos, so I'm fine having missed it. I'll see it on Blu-Ray when it comes out.
July 4, 20168 yr Sorry, but it looks like that's a no-go for an Inside Out sequel, at least for now. You'll have to wait a while for more pixar sequels Then again, it took 13 years for Nemo to get a sequel, so who knows, maybe in another 13 years we'll see Riley and her emotions again. However, I for one am glad that they will focus on original films after this run of sequels!
July 4, 20168 yr I think that's a good thing. For the most part, the good Pixar sequels thrive on memory and nostalgia. There will be kids that love Inside Out now, as much as I loved Finding Nemo back then. I'll never be able to appreciate an Inside Out sequel as much as a Finding Nemo sequel anyway, because even though I enjoyed it, I'm too old now for animations to have a lasting impact on me, creating a sense of nostalgia, if that makes sense. Waiting for an Inside Out sequel will allow for the originally intended audience to have a sense of nostalgia, as well as introduce it to a new group of kiddos. Memories are weird.

Waiting for an Inside Out sequel will allow for the originally intended audience to have a sense of nostalgia, as well as introduce it to a new group of kiddos. I see what you're saying, but I don't think movies need to be impactful to be nostalgic. Anything can be nostalgic as long as you enjoyed it a long time ago. I'm sure I will be nostalgic about Inside Out a decade or two from now because it's something I enjoyed in this part of my life. Although it is probably true that things from your childhood are more nostalgic than anything you experience in your adult life. Memories are weird. Yeah, they're all round and glowy. Come to think of it, nostalgia would be an interesting concept to explore in an Inside Out sequel...
July 4, 20168 yr Glad they are having another shot at original films. While some sequels are great (Monsters University, Toy Story 3); too many diminishes the brand in my eye. Some of Pixar's best are standalone films, that give a great story; and I honestly would love more original stories. Especially because the rest of Hollywood can't do anything original these days! :P
July 5, 20168 yr Although it is probably true that things from your childhood are more nostalgic than anything you experience in your adult life. That's all I was really trying to say, but I digressed and segued myself into confusion.
July 5, 20168 yr If they make a sequel with the girl (forgot her name) as a grown up, I wonder if Anger and Fear will turn into females
July 8, 20168 yr I saw Finding Dory a few weeks ago. I loved it! It's not as good as the first one but still great. Here is my Pixar movie ranking, excluding Brave because I have not seen it. 1.
