Sato Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) To make this clearer.... March sets: 42000 grand prix racer I certainly hope not, Last year's 'March' set (Logging truck) wasn't widely available until in august here in the Netherlands. And why this was still remains unclear. Edited January 1, 2013 by Sato Quote
legomuppet9 Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 I think the 42003 is a pull back car. "Action race car" is 42011. Action refers to the pull back action. No idea what 42003 is though. I used Brickset (http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Technic) to source the information on set numbers and names, I am also confused about what the "mystical" 42003 set is... I look forward to finding out! Quote
legomuppet9 Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 New Mindstorms set Is that a wish or is that true information? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) Is that a wish or is that true information? I herd rumors of that last year...... Edited January 1, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
legomuppet9 Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 but would they make it with a set number in the middle of the Technic set numbers? Maybe they are going to use power functions... Quote
Jim Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) Is that a wish or is that true information? It's a wish based on a rumor that is growing thicker, so in my opinion it's a valid possibility. Although TLC might use a different number for this set. The current mindstorms set has a number (8547) in the "Bionicle range", so it might just be possible. Edited January 1, 2013 by Gekke Ted Quote

It's definitely a wish....for years And looking at various sources with rumors, it's very likely it will come in 2013. Time will tell... Edited January 1, 2013 by Gekke Ted Quote
sama Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 So the super crane seems to have a battery box, motor (seems m but could change to xl) and a switch. I don't know but it looks as if the axles are sloping up and down as if they have suspension (as if truck is going over a bump). Quote

I don't know but it looks as if the axles are sloping up and down as if they have suspension (as if truck is going over a bump). It's just an illusion, sadly. If you look at the steering, 1st and 5th axle have the same angle and so do 2nd and 4th. The middle axle is straight. This, with the outrigger in the way, makes it seem like there is a bump under the middle axles. Or that's how I see it. Also is what are the wheels on the Monster Truck? I don't recognize them. Porty Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 We all know the cranes the flagship ha, Grand Prix racer is march set and the service truck is a August set with the crane and is a medium size set. People are finding it hard understand this for some reason. The grand prix racer is out already...... In argos Yeah, I know. Thanks 4 clarifying... @Alasdair: Not in USA. But what is the price in $$$? It's just an illusion, sadly. If you look at the steering, 1st and 5th axle have the same angle and so do 2nd and 4th. The middle axle is straight. Alasdair Ryan Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) Yeah, I know. Thanks 4 clarifying... @Alasdair: Not in USA. But what is the price in $$$? It will be $130 dollars - £80 uk pounds. Edited January 2, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
Porty Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Thanks, Alasdair. I cannot wait to see it. One more question. Piece count? Argos won't show up because of my internet security. Quote
legomuppet9 Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Piece count is around 1,150 (I added it up from a picture that someone posted of the back of the booklet and a few of the numbers were a bit hard to read) Quote

Our last march set had 1308+PF+LA's!!! Last year: $140. This year: ~$130 according to Alasdair Ryan! @Ondra: You're probably right. I didn't look that close. Quote
sama Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 Looking at my zoomed photos of 42009, it looks like the gearbox is laid out as if in a sports car. One lever slides back and forth to switch between two axles resulting in 4 functions. Also, if the gearbox is located in the turret, as in 8053, then wouldn't there have to be an axle going through the turntable to extend the stabilizers (if the stabilizers are motorized)? This set seems to be technically advanced if what I think is true. Additionally, I hope they use a 36 tooth bevel gear to steer. Quote

In terms of gear/axle linkage complexity and usage of space, a 4-way gearbox in the turntable would be good, but not particulary impressive for such a big set. The 5-axle, 7 studs tall chassis probably contains 3-4 functions (steering, engine, stabilizers and maybe turntable).. not really challenging to incorporate? It seems like it's a bit better than 8421 at least, which was awful in the complexity sense. For me, when building sets, It's nirvana when it's so complicated I feel the designer has torn out all his hair in the frustration of all the unsuccessful attempts before finally finding a way to make it all come together. Then I don't care if it doesn't lift very much or dig very well. Quote
