samxsteal Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 (edited) EDIT: added photos of what i have so far Hello My name is Adam Hinkle I have been a fan of legos and TMNT since I was like 2. I have been waiting for TMNT legos for ever. I am so happy that they have finally released these officially. I was lucky enough to receive all but one of these for Christmas i enjoy them very much I can’t wait to see more released. But any way enough introductions I need some help and I hope I can receive some information from all you amazing Moc(ers). I want to create As TMTN sewer layer based on the new TMNT show by nick. But I’m having some issues with certain aspects. I was wondering if anyone has some opinions of how to go about this moc. One of the issues I’m having is the sewer entrance. I would like to make it as "realistic" as I can so, I wanted to actually have a working manhole cover for the turtles to come and go. I had some idea but I’m not fully sure how to go about this. I’m also looking for reference material to work with. I’m not the best Moc(er) but I feel a strong urge to focus on this and work on this Creation. If anybody has any insight to this please PM me Edited January 8, 2013 by samxsteal
Hobbestimus Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 (edited) For my manhole I used the trapdoor piece that comes with the official Turtle Lair (and many other sets). It works really well, IMO. You can check it out here and maybe find some other inspiration, too. I also have some reference pics of the sewer from the TV show. PM me your e-mail addy and I'll shoot 'em your way. I'm pretty new to MOCing, too, but the best way to get better is to dive in. Edited December 30, 2012 by Hobbestimus

samxsteal Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 (edited) http://i.ebayimg.com...)1cg~~60_12.JPG This was shown on TMNT forum this work is pretty crazy what i wish i could go for but im don't have the ability to get all those parts EDIT: wow thank you I need to figure out where the Position of every thing is This guy has alot of "Brick" Brick which im trying to acquire but he has so many Edited December 30, 2012 by samxsteal
Hobbestimus Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 That is really great. But don't worry about not having that many "brick" bricks. Sewers have lots of varied textures and colors.
samxsteal Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 yeah I'm using a varsity of red grey and brown and maybe black and green but I'm not sure if i should have that many different colored brick in one seeing as I'm using the "brick" brick i have which already vary in color

samxsteal Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 OK so here is an Update I think i have the lay out pretty well Done Im only haveing and issue as to where the Kitchen is located in the new shows lair. I have an idea but im really not sure.
Dr.Cogg Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 The Indiana jones boat chase set had a good man hole design to it.
CM4Sci Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Well, I loaded LDD and thought of this: It's similar to the rounded window technique used in 2 new 2013 sets. It's actually pretty simple to make, I made it in real life (I have An Unexpected Gathering) and it works well. Although LDD doesn't have the new donut piece, you'll have to use one of http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2654 these under the two cover pieces. Here's it opened: Hope this works for you! -Sci
samxsteal Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 hey thank you both for your help. Does any one have an idea for pips and stuff i have an idea using 'wire" type pieces and some of the pipe looking pieces used in the turtle lair Official set
BrickG Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Freakin' I want a Kraang (original TMNT toon) and Beebop and Rocksteady minifigures. XP I hate how all TMNTs since then have like completely ignored those fan favorites.

I think there is some licensing issues with some of the characters, which include Bebop, Rocksteady and the Technodrome. I don't know if this is fact or speculation, but I just remember somebody saying it.

I don't know if this is fact or speculation, but I just remember somebody saying it. The second 2000s series got past this. Ninja Turtles Forever or something, crossed the universes between a lot of the TMNT shows. It included the original toon (beebop, rocksteady, kraang too), original comic and the 2000s series. I assume that since they were able to pull that off it's not too big of a leap to go to Lego maybe with a few talks. :(

BrickG Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 The modified 1x2 brick textured brick... man I wish I had more of those. They're perfect for the sewers. I also wish they came in some kind of reddish brown like stereotypical bricks too (the ones that come with TMNT sets are a bit too light IMO). I've begun drawing up some plans for my own small sewer build, but as usually I bet I won't have even HALF the needed bricks.
