Hi, this is my first post at this forum, and also my first try on some more serious Lego building.

I am fascinated with the LEGO Architecture-series in the amazing way the manage to capture the silhouette of a building, whit a relative “simple” Lego construction.

I have now used two days trying to transform my local church into a Architecture-model. I have tried different techniques, and rebuilt it several times.

What do you guys think now?

Here is the first build which I was not happy with:

Not bad! The tower could perhaps be a little wider, if you're looking for accuracy. I'd also suggest embedding larger pictures so the viewer doesn't have to click to see the model in detail.

Thanks! Yes maybe I should rebuild the entire thing and make it a bit bigger? But then I am afraid I will loose the Architecture-feeling too it?

(I embedded larger pictures, thank you for the tip!)

Now there's a weird coincidence. I've just been driving back home to Bergen after spending Christmas in the South of Norway, and read this on my iPhone while on the ferry between Sandvikvåg and Halhjem, just before reaching shore at Halhjem. I didn't know where Strandvik was, but I looked it up - and realised that at that very moment I was as close to it as I've probably ever been - just about 10-12 km in a straight line...

I think it's a nice build, and I've actually been thinking about doing the same thing with my local church where I'm from. I agree with Rufus though, it could be a bit bigger. The largest Architecture sets are quite a lot bigger than your church.

And, by the way, welcome to Eurobricks!

That's indeed a funny coincidence L@go!

Strandvik is by the way quit a popular place for you "Bergensere" to have a cabin, and therefore the population in the village grows considerable in the summers.

I am going for another try, rebuilding the entire model again  .

Takk!

Now I have rebuilt the entire model a couple of times bigger. What do you guys think now?

That is very nice and much better! The tower seems much more well-proportioned now. Build it! :)

Oh, and by the way - if I had been from Bergen, I'm sure I'd have heard of Strandvik. But I've only lived here for four years...

I have been searching around in the different stores on BrickLink and found the estimated price for building the church to be about 160-260 EUR depending on the shop.

I think it is a bit expansive, or is this normal for a build of this size?
