Thirdwigg Posted February 2, 2023 Author Posted February 2, 2023 I finished another alternative build. I feel like it's just OK. But hopefully some of you will enjoy it. 42139 Hummer Rebrickable Features: Steering 2 cylinder engine with two speed transmission Front pendular suspension Rear pendular suspension Front winch Removable overland package (Roll bar, fuel take, spare tires) Opening doors I hope you all enjoy. With the Overland Package off. Shown with remaining 42139 spare parts. Video is here. Quote
pow Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 42139 seems to be a good part pack?. There are a lot of alternative builds out there - after such a short time. Nice car by the way! Quote
Thirdwigg Posted July 3, 2023 Author Posted July 3, 2023 (edited) I embarked upon another alternative build a couple of months ago. I still have some difficulty working on these; It's still hard for me to think and building using a confined part availability. And as the sets I attempt to rebuild are getting bigger, they are getting harder. Anyway, I present the 42154 Porsche 911. All pictures can be found here. The Porsche features the following: Steering with HOG Four wheel independent suspension Rear wheel drive with flat 6 engine Opening doors, hood, and engine cover Two spoilers, including duckbill (correct) and huge wing (incorrect) 1324 of the 1466 (90%) parts from set 42154 are used. The extra parts are shown below. My favorite picture! With the big wing. Rear view I made instructions for this MOC, like I have been doing for all my recent work. If you are interested, you may find the instructions at Rebrickable. And a little video if you are interested. I hope you all enjoy. Edited July 3, 2023 by Thirdwigg Quote
gyenesvi Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 You've got some nice alt builds there! I haven't even seen the Hummer.. Nice ideas and good execution :) Quote

gethema Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Amazing Porsche, who'd have thought a modern Ford GT transforms into a classic 911 so easily ;) Nicely done, great MOC - I particularly like the creative parts usage and the exchangeable wing! Quote

Thanks; I'm glad you like it. The exchangeable wing was an afterthought. I had the duckbill spoiler part of the design all while I was building, then I had a lot of parts left over so I tried some ideas. I'm happy I was able to make the wing option work. Quote
gethema Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Super happy with the Porsche! Made some minor alterations to the front (only 42154 parts), I think the discs work slightly better for headlights than the Ford GT ones. Unfortunately, since I already applied some stickers, I need to at least replace the license plate since it's definitely not a Ford GT anymore Some impressions: Quote
Thirdwigg Posted July 10, 2023 Author Posted July 10, 2023 Thanks for sharing pictures, and I like the headlight changes you made. What's the red car in the photos? Quote

Thirdwigg Posted December 29, 2023 Author Posted December 29, 2023 I built this little LMP car over the course of countless video meeting during COVID. After lots little ideas, I spent some time putting it all together into a decent build. I love the late 90's early 2000's LMP cars, so this one was the result of this love. In Octan colors, of course. Instructions are freely available. I have a had time photographing white parts on my white background. I hope you enjoy. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 I love all your MOCs And I see all the small details in this car but I am afraid to loose such a great talent at Technic for the other Lego... . Just for curiosity how many pieces has the car?. Quote

Just for curiosity how many pieces has the car?. Thanks again. Yeah, this is a little different for me. I keep all my system parts on a table in my home office, so during COVID meetings, all these parts were right at hand. After year or so of tinkering, this little build started to become something. The build has 777 (!) parts. Glad you like it. Quote
Sven J Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 What a brilliant model! The best car MOC I've seen for a long, long time. And great that you're offering free instructions. Thank you very much! (BTW: Now I know why, quite some time ago, you asked for permission to use the Cosworth V8 engine model from my Tyrrell 019...) Quote

Thanks for the kind words. I'm happy you like the build. Yes, your Cosworth was used extensively (both in Studio, and in bricks) to give me ideas and try spacing. Thanks for sharing the Studio file for the Tyrell 019. I am grateful. The 019 is a beautify MOC too. Quote
Thirdwigg Posted January 1, 2024 Author Posted January 1, 2024 The Lego Car Blog did a little interview with me this past week. If you want to learn a little more about me, and my building process, give it a read. Quote
lcvisser Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Very cool, congratulations! Fun to read how you work. Quote
pow Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Nice interview! Your car wish list is interesting (and i mean that very positive!) Quote

Thirdwigg Posted January 26, 2024 Author Posted January 26, 2024 I think set 42168 is fine, but I wanted to see if I could make another alternative build. Building with a part constraint is a good exercise for me. So I made a little backhoe. It uses 91% of the parts, and has the following functions: Steering with HOG RWD with fake I3 engine Lifting bucket Moving rear digger Front fork or bucket Rear claws or drill Instructions are at Rebrickable.com. Outriggers lift the rear wheels. The Render with leftover parts. And a little video to see the functions. I hope you enjoy. Quote
Thirdwigg Posted February 24, 2024 Author Posted February 24, 2024 A couple of years ago, when LEGO 42098 came out, I loved the little car, and thought I could improve upon it. Someone requested that I post instructions for it, so I took it upon myself to do this. You may find free instructions for the car at Rebrickable.com. The car keeps to shape and proportions of the original design adds in a couple of features: Steering with HOG Rear wheel drive with fake V-8 Rear live axle suspension Opening doors Wide rear tires And a little video. I hope you all enjoy. Quote
Thirdwigg Posted May 3, 2024 Author Posted May 3, 2024 As is all too common, I have a number of WIP projects currently, and I was feel like nothing was getting finished. In these situations, it's helpful for me to start something small and fun. So in the space of a week, I put this little tractor together as a celebration of my first LEGO set, 6524 Blizzard Blazer. You may find Free Instructions at Rebrickable.com. The tractor features: Steering with HOG Rear PTO Front attachment point Rear attachment point and hitch I have not posted the rear tedder instructions yet, but they will be posted soon. With a front plow. Rear PTO and mount. And a little video that shows the limited functions. Enjoy! Quote
gyenesvi Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 That's very cute, I like the shaping and the playability, especially the working PTO / attachment in such a small scale :) Quote

Thirdwigg Posted August 14, 2024 Author Posted August 14, 2024 (edited) Back with another little car to fit the scale of all the other 15 stud wide cars that are out there. This little LMP racer is built in the style of the early 2000s open cockpit cars that races Le Mans and other endurance races. Features: Steering with HOG Boxer engine with RWD Removable bodywork Free instructions are at Rebrickable.com. And a little photo of the engine bay. And with all the bodywork removed. I hope you enjoy. Edited August 14, 2024 by Thirdwigg Quote
