Savage Oppress Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 We will be getting more info tomorrow, August 30, 2013 during Funcom's Presentation of Q2 2013 meeting Quote
PenPlays Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 The moment I heard the Lego Universe Front End music, I knew that this was going to be good. Far more excited with this than I ever was with Chima. Speaking of Lego Universe that three headed "Fluffy" looked like it was Malestrom infected . I cannot wait for more information, and more videos. Quote
Savage Oppress Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 I liked the gameplay, I am just a little irked about the camera angle. I want the camera angle to be exactly like Lego Universe, zoomed in on our minifigure. Quote
just2good Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Now I want LEGO Lord of the Rings Online! Quote
jamesster Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 (edited) The developers said that a minifigure series is being made to launch with the game, and it will feature characters specifically designed for the game. Who wants to bet that some of the new enemies and minifigures seen in the trailer are gonna be in this series? Edited August 29, 2013 by jamesster Quote

I'm sure we'll get those Orcs, and it will probably be Series 13 as May seems like a plausible release date. Quote
Savage Oppress Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 • The licensed LEGO® online game is on schedule with several significant deliveries during 2Q13 • In July the team successfully launched the friends and family beta which ran throughout the summer • Work on the tablet version has been accelerated by the allocation of more resources • In August Funcom had the first public reveal of the game at Gamescom in Private and confidential – intended solely for use by the recipient • In August Funcom had the first public reveal of the game at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. Initial feedback has been very positive • Amongst the many that got the presentation were GameInformer, IGN, GameSpot, Eurogamer, PC Gamer, JeuxVideo, GameStar • Norwegian press: Dagbladet, DN, NRK, Gamer.no and IT avisen Reviews so Far: "Det virker det som om de virkelig har troen på sitt eget spill, og etter det vi fikk se har vi i Filmpolitiet fått troen også." NRK Filmpolitiet "It's a brash, sort of isometric LEGO smash 'em up built for kids and those who occasionally like to pretend to be kids. It looks kind of brilliant." PC Games N "What I saw during Gamescom was already beginning to look solid, varied, and definitely LEGO, and I’m looking forward to seeing Funcom welcome an Private and confidential – intended solely for use by the recipient and definitely LEGO, and I’m looking forward to seeing Funcom welcome an entire new generation of MMO gamers. With the LEGO Minifigures launching as a fun, action-focused free-to-play title, there’s certainly no reason why that can’t happen." ZAM "Fargerikt, sjarmerende, inkluderende og humoristisk.... Det er fortsatt mye tid igjen, men det hele ser allerede veldig polert ut. Vi ser frem til å se enda mer av den søte verdenen." PlayDay Quote
Flipz Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 That soft grouping would have completely revolutionized LU. Glad to see they're learning! Here's hoping they also learned their lesson about lack of transparency, and about letting internal politics affect the user experience. Really, the art style reminds me a lot of LU in some ways--but I want to know what they're doing with story. Story was one of the things they got right with LU--I'd hate to see that go. Quote
Savage Oppress Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 I hope the game is free-to-play all the way, because memberships will just destroy the game and make it a complete failure like Lego Universe. Quote

r4-g9 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 It almost seems as though they are taking a step back from Lego Universe. I for one enjoyed being able to customize a minifig, and to have my own little area to build things, also I am not really sure if the older audiences will enjoy the click to move feature. Quote
jamesster Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 (edited) I am not really sure if the older audiences will enjoy the click to move feature. http://en.wikipedia....Point_and_click Diablo and its countless clones say otherwise. Edited October 22, 2013 by jamesster Quote
BrickG Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Point and click is fine. It seems like they nerfed the features in Lego Universe which was already a game with barely any content. Also it seems like they somehow made it even MORE kiddie which I wouldn't have thought would be possible. I'm sure the moderation levels are near Nazi-mod levels too like in Universe so you can't have a decent conversation "to protect children". I don't know, I don't see anything that'll make this not end up like Lego Universe and die. It doesn't look hugely impressive. I'm not sure AFOL will often go for it when there's many non-Lego games of a similar style that are 10x superior, 10x less kiddie and 10x less easy (well, tough to say this for sure but it IS a Lego game :P). Diablo and that new Marvel game and tons of other options... Maybe if it has a good business built around it. F2P. Annoying microtransactions... Quote

Diablo and that new Marvel game and tons of other options... Maybe if it has a good business built around it. F2P. Annoying microtransactions... It's not aimed at AFOLs, so its success won't hinge on whether AFOLs are interested in playing. But at the same time, I am sure at least SOME AFOLs will be willing to put up with kid-friendly "sacrifices" and find redeeming value in other parts of the experience. After all, the majority of LEGO sets aren't aimed at AFOLs either, and plenty of AFOLs still manage to enjoy them just fine. I won't be playing this game just because I've never had the work ethic or attention span for MMOs... in fact, these days, I barely have the work ethic and attention span for video games of any kind. The last video game that I had the patience to play all the way through was the wonderful nostalgia trip that was the Mata Nui Online Game. Quote
