Very nice!! I really like the simple lines of the exterior (I get the impression that the bags it sells are VERY expensive!) and the interior is just perfect!!

Excellent stuff!

We already had a discussion about Cusooo, but did you think about selling instructions of your sets, or let a group like brick city depot do it for you? I am sure that it would be a success... If TLG released a set like this one or the psychiatrist office, I believe that a bunch of us would go for it...especially if they are 16 wide ones and a little cheaper than let's say uhh Town Hall...

How many parts did you use, any idea?

Thanks, SwissBrick. Not sure what to say, other than I'm  x3! I'm going to look into options, I promise.

No idea on the parts count, yet. I do have electronic versions (in *.ldr format ) for most of my MOCs in case I want to rebuild them at a later date. However, I haven't finished the one for this building yet. Will let you know when it's done.

Wow! What a cool modular! I especially love the external windows, the color scheme, and the compact but realistic floor plan. The perfect set up for the award winning creator of exclusive handbags....way to go!!!

Kristel, this really is absolutely gorgeous  , and you're right to be proud of the upstairs windows, they look fantastic. The whole look is detailed, yet understated, and thus very classy. The interiors look 'full' without being fussy, and altogether.. it's just beautiful. I really love the inclusion of all the little Friends details, and it show how they can be gently incorporated without turning everything to glaring pink.

Really, just wonderful. I look forward to more.

You never cease to amaze me. I'm always thoroughly impressed with your builds because they aren't too in-your-face. In fact, the main problem with all of your buildings are they look too good. They look really realistic, as in I could walk downtown and see this building, whereas I wouldn't be able to walk downtown and see Market Street or some of those.

The color usage is great, even if it isn't eye popping color. I think that is my problem. I want to use colors, but in reality I want to do something more like this, but I can't figure out how to incorporate some of it.

The real treat is the little details on the architecture. You've done an amazing job with the windows and even the grill brick to create visual stimulation without overdoing it. I especially love the upper level with the 1x1 at an angle to the brick and the I assume 1x2 jumper plate creating a half step of depth instead of a full stud. Brilliant, simply brilliant.

I always look forward to seeing your builds.

A monochromatic, cast-iron inspired modular with an alliterative title? It's like you made this just for me! :classic:

I'm not surprised this is getting so much high praise. Again, you've found the perfect balance of exterior detailing - I love the crown especially and have been struggling topping off one of my own buildings in progress now, so I really appreciate the inspiration. The inside is great too, and probably the best use of Friends pieces I've seen in a modular. It should come as no surprise by now - blogged on Brick Town Talk!

Thanks, greg3, Legogal and Pandora. I really appreciate all the nice comments.

Thanks, LegoDr. A lot of my inspiration comes from real buildings, albeit older buildings. Until I came out of my dark ages, I never really appreciated how beautiful some of the older buildings are. So richly detailed ... so much to be inspired by.

The stepped part in the roof is just a combination of 1x2 plates and jumper plates.

Yep, just for you, Jonathon. Glad I can give some inspiration back, given how much you and the Lego community have given me. Thanks, too, for the blog post!

As other have said - it's simply amazing. Everytime I see your one of your buildings, I look forward to another one. This one in particular is has a unique style, it's detailed, but not too much, the colours are calm, but the inside is lively with colours. Including Friends' parts and some of their colours (pink and lime) really adds up a character to the building.

By the way, how do you do your instructions?

The first floor with the flowers, my favourite floor - but the displaywindow isn't bad, it reminds me of a classy jewellywindow, where the only decoration is the diamonds, pearls and so on.

Thanks, Redhead. I do the building using Bricksmith (files are in *.ldr format) and step by step instructions using LPub (which can export PDFs). I also have LDView installed as the renderer for LPub and to take snapshots of the finished building. I use a Mac with OSX.

Thanks, cosmolon. The best option is BrickLink for both parts and custom instructions. BrickCityDepot has some interesting buildings, but I've never bought instructions from them, so I can't really comment on the quality of the product or service.

What a great build youve done there Kristel. Compact and Bijou!

I like the way the 2 colours complement each other and make each other stand out. I also love the ornate features on the facade aswell. Well done.

Thanks for the kind words and also for a new word for my vocabulary (I had to look up "Bijou"!).

Hi Kristel. I had heard the quote used to comment on a real building years ago and had to look up the meaning of bijou myself!

Kristel, your Modular MOC designs are amazing. They have blown me away so much that I created an account on eurobricks just to tell you how awesome they are! Are you open to sharing the lego designer files? I would love to add a few of your buildings to my collection. Im really impressed with the use of interior elements, esp ones from the "friends" line. Well done!

This looks wonderful, Kristel! I echo the sentiments that the windows are superb. I really like that you used the same window elements on the two upper floors, but made them look different by building different frames around them. That makes for a very cohesive look in the building as a whole.

That is a stunning building Kristel! The details and the colors of the front are very good? The interior is also very good.

It's a shame you had to make the window display wider, because otherwise you could have made it exchangeable with your avatars.

Thanks, rubberninja. The digital model for this building is not finished yet, but I am not sure if I want to share it when I do. All my dodgy building techniques revealed for the world to see!

While I'm flattered that you would like to have some of my buildings in your collection, I would get a lot more satisfaction out of knowing that I inspired you to build your own great MOC rather than building a copy of mine. If you do want to have a go at building it, the images on flickr are all high resolution and downloadable. You can see a lot of detail by zooming in on those. Further, I am happy for you to PM me if you get stuck on any particular detail.

Thanks, jamesn. I'm glad you liked it. The differences between the first and second floor weren't in my original plans. I had both the first and second floor facades sitting side by side in front of me for ages, while I was trying to decide which one to go with. (There were about ten versions before I narrowed it down to those two). I couldn't decide between them and then ended up holding them one above the other and the rest is history.

Thanks, Vincent. It would have been great to have the ground floor window be exactly the same as my avatar. I did have a couple of different versions mapped out that would allowed the window to be the same width, but none of them looked quite right.

I love the interiors on this build. Very inspirational. Thanks for sharing.

That's a nice little building. But that interior is stunning! Absolutely amazing!

Thanks, polyphonic and Man with a Hat, for the nice comments. I really appreciate it!

I completely understand and respect that, Kristel. You are certainly a talented and creative artist with this lego stuff and you should give yourself a pat on the back for conceptualizing such classy mocs. Thank you for offering your assistance and if I come across something that completely stumps me i'll definitely PM you. :) You certainly have inspired me to create my own 16-wide modular town house after seeing what you've done. I used to live in a thin townhouse that would serve as the perfect guide to creating my first Modular building moc and I cant wait to get started. Ill make sure to post up pictures and stuff once its done but it could take a while lol. All the best Kristel, and keep building :)
