Paul Boratko Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) Got an idea to use a piece that I thought that I might never use... It works suprisingly well since the red 5L liftarms offer the support to keep everything together and it doesn't have any friction.... And with the control arms being only 5L, it provides enough room between them for the engine to sit... Edited March 21, 2013 by Paul Boratko Quote
timslegos Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Wow that is a very interesting way to use that part Paul. Is there a lot of play in the hub? tim Quote
rumpletump Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 You have heaps of great Ideas. One could learn so much from spending a few hours building with you sir! Quote
Thebicyclestory Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 You should make a book with your ideas...it would be larger then the bible But seriously now...awesome job! You inspire me to build. Quote
Paul Boratko Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 I just finished another alternate design similar to the one above with the gear rack flipped upside down... Many less parts... I'll get some pics posted later... Quote
Lipko Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 And when will your next car with the new suspension come out? Quote
Meatman Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 That was one thing about the 8070 supercar that was just a bit off with the engine sitting so far back from the suspension. Quote
Paul Boratko Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 I also wouldn't be surprised if we don't see the steering arms used much(or at all) in the future as well.. The steering arms have been discontinued and are no longer available for sale from Lego... Get them while you can on bricklink before the prices go up... Quote
z3_2drive Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) Are you serious...but they're so popular! EDIT: I assume we will be seeing another vehicle model using the new hubs next year... Edited June 9, 2013 by z3_2drive Quote
MaxSupercars Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I just finished another alternate design similar to the one above with the gear rack flipped upside down... Many less parts... I'll get some pics posted later... Hello Paul, do you got something new to this post? Thx... Max... Quote
Paul Boratko Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 Hello Paul, do you got something new to this post? Thx... Max... You can check out my brickshelf folder, I probably have some new stuff added there.. This thread is a couple years old now and I don't even remember what I was building.. Quote
bonox Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Since it has come up again, the discontinued piece from post #58 is no longer the case. They're still expensive, but in two sets last year and one this year. Quote

TBH I like the old hubs and arms a lot less of a mess of parts, these new hubs I find too big and bulky. Currently working on a moc hoping to have a awd with transmission if all goes to plan. just need to order some parts for the front end. I've based the chassis on the Polaris (MOC) I've seen on the internet but with a couple of changes to suit my MOC, but the body will be different, I'm not going say what it is just yet but I think it'll work (hopefully).
