This is exactly the type of crane I meant with my comment in the other thread, but my attempts at building something like this never looked nearly as good. The main thing I notice is the wheels spacing looks a bit unusual, from the linked image this probably has to due with the pivot points of the wheels; but I would prefer slightly closer spacing.

*huh**oh2*:look: Piotrek839 recently posted pictures on brickshelf of a MASSIVE mobile crane, much bigger than this years official set, that's for sure. Wouldve been amazing for set of this size but probably WAY too expensive...Just feast your eyes on this masterpiece...

Find the rest of the pics(size too large) here http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=520162

i think you missed my crane:

i have updated the superstructure since, but i dont have a pic. :sceptic:

I quite like the smaller cranes. I'd argue that the play-ability decreases when MOCs get this large. Often the axles appear to be collapsing under the weight and they don't fit an awful lot more functions in because the extra space is taken up with reinforcement.

Are these huge cranes use the standard turn table? How does that handle this big weight? Any chance getting a new stronger turntable with the new crane?

This years crane is designed with a very different scale and idea in mind, and building it in a scale like this would make it incredibly expensive. (like, two times a 8110 unimog; around € 300??)

It's a great MOC nevertheless, but these kind of topics sound like - "TLG should have made 9394 jet plane as large as Grohl's SAAB JA-37 Viggen".

For some reason the first crane picture looks out of proportion, not quite a masterpiece and I wouldn't personally pay for it. Nevertheless it is a great moc, I am not taking anything away from the original creator but it is far from TLG material. I've read all of the 2013 threads, which one has the detailed specs of the new crane design for people to review and bash? Size, parts list, count, pictures etc, I want to see this thing not just the bad confidential image teaser.

I agree with most of the other replies. The lego crane is about the right size and in keeping with the other models, they have to think of cost too. This moc is fantastic all the same. I love the crane boom. That is a work of genuis and it looks really meaty and powerfull with the eight linear actuators and the motors that power them. I'm working on a american style truck at the moment.

Fore some reason I'm not so impressed by models of this scale. The large size gives room to implement anything you want, and doesn't have the same requirements for coming up with creative solutions to get the functions you want. it alsp seems wasted to have so "few" extra functions when working on this scale. Most of all I'm disappointed by the small LA's in the stabilizers. At this scale there should be room to make stabilizers that could lift the crane...

But, all that said, the scale itself is impressive, and it's hard to get a vehicle of this size structurally sound and movable. So, all in all good work even though I'm not to impressed. :)

PS: Matias bendtsen's crane is very interesting, both do to functions and the great looks.

Currently i am just waiting for the release of ev3, then i am going to build one with one ev3 in the crane, and the other as remote control. the looks and fnctions will be about the same, but the control will be more realistic. :classic:

Well, i think there is a lot of good work in this model - technically. BUT. In my opinion, the fault is here, that it was driven by "the bigger - the better" logic, which is false. Impressive, the required functions are successfully applied, but the whole thing is way too messy, and hurt my eyes. If this would be compact and more a real crane look alike, i would more appritiate it. The outfit is always a selling point - it is pure marketing. Also it is more challenging to implement the same functions in compat size. So it remains a good and impressive MOC, but nothing heartwarming - sorry, sincerely i didn't get the feeling: "Oh, i WANT one", and in this sense there is no reason to compare with 42009, as the topic title does. Here is a good example for getting the instant buy feeling:

I agree with your comment. The topic title is irrelevant as the new model hasn't even been released for the general public to review. At least the 42009 actually looks like a crane.

This was back when we had little information, and another reason I posted it is because this crane looked like a lot of work was put into the mechanics, even though there wasn't much of a challenge to implement these functions in such a large space, and either way, this topic was bumped, and not by me, but by the creator who wanted to show his model in action. EDIT: It's a small topic because of my crappy title, had it been something to promote piotrek's crane, it would've gotten much more attention, that was a mistake on my part.

I have not had that problem. I added line breaks for you.

If you would like to suggest a new topic title, I can change it for you.

Thanks! Hmmm, 'Piotrek839's Heavy Duty Mobile Crane' would be sufficient :classic:

This crane stands to raise a quarter kilogram of the height 130 centimeters, and 1 kilogram of the height 70 centimeters. Appearance was not important.

In this case most of the comments should be also deleted, as they will be - mine as well - not relevant on-topic.

Or just delete the whole topic, and start a new with the title above. :classic:

Thanks.
