zephyr1934 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Interesting to note is this pic taken from LEGO Discovery Center in Grapevine, Texas. They used what appears to be HO scale track and train wheels, everything else is LEGO. I've never seen this done before and the train looks really good too. I think that is larger than HO, possibly O or a narrow gauge O variant. The tender is 8 wide. It also looks like they just took a stock model railroad set and made a lego shell for it. Still, the beefy track pickups under the tender look like a cheap and easy way around trying to take power from the wheels (just be careful over switches not to short things out). Quote
alainneke Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 The pickups remind me of the pickup shoes used by LGB: http://www.eurorailhobbies.com/erh_detail.asp?mn=34&ca=15&sc=G&stock=LGB-63214 . Very robust, because they are made for the outdoors. Quote

I think all L-gauge locomotives should be as large as this one! I just love the ability to have amazing cab space! 10 to 12 wide is the way to go! Quote

On closer inspection I can now tell the track is more like O gauge. Quote
achinic Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) I use HO/OO wheels by HORNBY http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hornby-Gauge-14-1mm-Coach-Wheel/dp/B004648IAU/ref=pd_sim_21_3?ie=UTF8&dpID=41FLxspyzbL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR124%2C160_&refRID=0CYQ4AYXARVCJ7Y60AYP then i use 2 pieces of LEGO 1x10 1 piece of lego 1x6 and 4 drills with 2mm drill the wagon wheels are ready now you can build your lego wagon or you can load the ho train wagon soon i will send you an example of turning wheels with lego Edited January 20, 2016 by achinic Quote

I see a lot of tipping in its future.... Having say a normal battery box and motor would be huge for that tiny scale of train... I don't suppose there is any small motors like the old 9v motor that would fit under a trainDid I really say that back then..... Here is a topic I haven't seen in a while.... poor Annie..... Not realy. I'll get the power supply from the ho tracks like all ho locomotives do. And i can control up-down the train speed with the simple use of a potensiometer adjusting the voltage on ho tracks. No tipping.... the police lego on track is a sample not the final wagon carriage.
