Blakbird Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 This may be a strange topic, but I find myself visiting Birmingham, UK (Wolverhampton to be precise) this weekend with nothing to do. Are there any Technic fans in the area who fancy meeting up? If so, feel free to reply or PM me and I'll get you my contact information. I have already spoken to Richard Brown and hope to see his Demag AC-50! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) What about going visit me in Scotland? It's only 600 miles and a 2hr boat ride...... Edited January 11, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
DLuders Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 @ Blakbird: You could drive on the M6 and up to the Lake District National Park -- it's BEAUTIFUL up there. Windermere and Keswick are very scenic. Quote

hassenplug Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Next weekend I'll be at Brickfair in Birmingham AL (USA). But I don't think that helps. :) Steve Quote
DarkShadow73 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 What about going visit me in Scotland? It's only 600 miles and a 2hr boat ride...... Heck Alasdair - I'd come visit you and show off some of my creations, but you are way across the pond from me in the USA... Heck Alasdair - I'd come visit you and show off some of my creations, but you are way across the pond from me in the USA... @Blakbird - and here I thought since you reside in the US that it 'might' mean Birmingham, MI...that wouldn't be out of the question for me, I'm only about 160 miles from there... allanp Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Devon is wonderful, my second favorite part of the world actually, my first favorite being vagas! Quote
Sam42 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Manchester yes, Birmingham no. Much as I'd love to pop down to brum to chat technic tomorrow I'm afraid I'm working! Though it'd be cool to meet another eurobricks technic, mindstorms and modelteam regular in real life! Meeting Ralph at afolcon was good but that Alasdair! I thought he was hard work on the internet!! Quote
DarkShadow73 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 What creations?........ Come on man, you're right up there with MOCs...would like to meet you personally some day, along with many other talents in this forum...bet its Technic heaven. Seriously a lot of you guys could be Lego designers and should be, I've been amazed at what I've seen these past 2+ yrs I've belonged to the forum, was just a lurker for a long time before that...even back 5 years ago, it was build out of the box (at least for me), maybe customize a bit and that was it, little did I know what most all of you can whip up, so I give credit where it is deserved, along with a bit of inspiration for me...I've loved Technic for a long, long time, but never dreamed of designing and building a creation of my own...I haven't done a lot, no engineer here, but I have a few models that 2 yrs ago I'd never have thought possible for me to do...would love to share some pics, but feel I'd be shrouded against the masters of design... Dump..... mmmm... Chripes, makes our weather here look crappy...and for the most part it is...especially this time of year... Quote
Blakbird Posted January 12, 2013 Author Posted January 12, 2013 I'm off to meet two of you today! Should be fun. Tomorrow (Sunday), I'll be making the drive from Birmingham to London and staying near Heathrow, so if anyone else is on the way and wants to say hello, give me a shout. Quote
07jkearney Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I would love to come and meet with you Blakbird, shame that Birmingham is such a long drive from Devon Quote
Blakbird Posted January 12, 2013 Author Posted January 12, 2013 Thanks to those of you whom I met today; you know who you are. A nicer and more knowledgeable group of blokes I couldn't ask for. It is a rare opportunity for me to put a face with some of the names I have known here for so long. And I was lucky enough to acquire a 42000 which I will be building tomorrow and then importing back to the USA with me! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Do we get to see any pics of Allanp getting his butt kicked by Blakbird? Quote
Blakbird Posted January 12, 2013 Author Posted January 12, 2013 Do we get to see any pics of Allanp getting his butt kicked by Blakbird? Don't worry, the paparazzi were outside the whole time so I'm sure you'll see some good shots. Maybe even video. I also expect it will be a hot topic for micro scale vignettes at the next con. Quote
allanp Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) Haha, it was totally awesome to finally meet you, it was like seeing a very good friend not seen for years. Very much looking forward to the next time Edited January 13, 2013 by allanp Quote
