Hopey Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I got me a buggy motor this week, and wanted to try it out. Here's a very minimal chassis I whipped up. It's got a simple return-to-centre mechanism which doesn't really work, no suspension, no structural integrity above what's required to stop it falling apart, and no style whatsoever, but it's quick! (Sorry about the video quality) The battery pack is modified to output 9.6V and has been shunted to prevent it cutting out. As is obvious from the constant wheelspin in the video, it's got torque to spare, but when I tried it with bigger wheels, the power cut out, so I might have to try again when I get a V2 receiver. I could probably have made it a few studs shorter if I'd planned further ahead. Anyone made a smaller buggy-motored car? Quote
rm8 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) You need v2 receiver and light LiPo battery or small BB for AAA batteries. Weight is important. Watch my Black Mamba. It burns!:) topic is somewhere in the forum... It is All wheel drive or rear wheel drive: on demand:) and return to steering is mandatory for such speed... And just comparison why you need v2: V2 give you possibility to run it even on 62x20 tires!!! Edited January 11, 2013 by rm8 Quote
shadowhearth Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 hmmm, this looks like right my alley. This RC buggy motor can be used with normal AAA box, IR receiver and normal controller? or you can only use the RC buggy controller? Quote
DLuders Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) @ shadowhearth: rm8's "The Black Mamba GT" model is described on this Eurobricks topic. Note that he used the Power Functions v2 Receiver. So as not to "hijack" Hopey's topic anymore, recommend that you continue the Black Mamba discussion there. Edited January 12, 2013 by DLuders Quote

jg711 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 I also had the problem with the PF battery box. I build also a car with 68.7X34 tires and when i steered or something else, it stops and it squeeks cery hard! you have to take of the overload protection. you can sure find it somewhere on internet. maybe on eurobricks! But very nice build! Quote

jg711 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 You can look the best for an RC Buggy Motor on Bricklink, because of good care for stuff. i bought my RC Buggy Motor also there and it was very well protected when it arrived. I wont recommend eBay because of (i think) trouble with shipping and try winning the auction. You have to take the overload protection on the battery box off. Quote
