Governor Mister Phes Posted July 29, 2014 Governor Posted July 29, 2014 Pirates of the Caribbean V There have been rumours of a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film ever since On Stranger Tides was released and now Disney has officially announced a release date. Whether the LEGO Group will continue to release sets under their licence for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise remains to be seen, but here's what Disney has announced so far: It will be released July 7, 2017. Source. Although the film has been pushed back from July 10, 2015, to 2016 to July 7, 2017 so that date may well be tenative. Previously Released Information (May no longer be accurate) The sub-title will be Dead Men Tell No Tales. Source Screen play by Jeff Nathanson Source Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. Source Keith Richards will reprise his role as Captain Teague. Source Possible Plot Details: A new female lead and troublemaker for Captain Jack Sparrow who is suspected of witchcraft, but is actually a scientist; two new romantic leads from farming families; a ghost in a lead role, a former member of the British military who is now sided with Captain Barbossa on a revenge mission, which gives the film its title. The film also supposedly starts with an "awkward wedding" and concludes with "a riff on the myth of the Bermuda Triangle. Source The plot revolves around a search for "The Trident", which Richard's Teague holds valuable information to. Other details seem to confirm previous rumors: Christoph Waltz may play "Captain Brand", who wants the Trident so he can get his revenge on Jack, who Brand believes had turned his brother Eric into a pirate, which led to his death. Mencot Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) Oookey. Not so good news that it has been pushed that many years forward (if not more) Hopefuly we will se some lego sets also. Edited July 29, 2014 by Mencot Quote
Simon_S Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) I just did jumped into the pirates theme recently and saidly missed the first PotC sets, so I'm very excited... hopefully TLG will make some great sets! And then, Christoph Waltz in PotC ? I loved his part in Inglorious Bastards and also in Django. If he does the same good job as usual, this movie will become great. jodawill Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I don't want to see any more PotC sets. I want classic pirates back. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 30, 2014 Governor Posted July 30, 2014 Oookey. Not so good news that it has been pushed that many years forward (if not more) Hopefuly we will se some lego sets also. We're going to see at least one new set early next year apparently. That's going to be the Brick Bounty Ship for which a naming contest was held a few months back. Although, given the movie's released date is now around 3 years away, there could be potential for more non-Pirates of the Caribbean sets during that time. Quote
Hive Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I didn't really care for most of the POTC sets and figures, but I loved the ships and would welcome more in the same style. Quote
Mencot Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I didn´t care too much for the sets either but I liked the minifigures and also the ships. Aah yes the "Ship naming contest" I had forgotten there had been one. Okay (not ok-ey) "The brick bounty" name won, pretty good . Hopefuly it will have a high class (ofcourse it will but) having an classic feel and maybe having also the look of the POTC ships. Back to the topic: About the plot of the movie, it will be great to see the return of Captain Norrington. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 31, 2014 Governor Posted July 31, 2014 Okay (not ok-ey) "The brick bounty" name won, pretty good . If you can overlook the fact the LEGO Pirate ship released in 2009 was called "Brickbeard's Bounty"... Quote
Mencot Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Yea, maybe they went for the "sounds familier, easy to remember" thing Quote
Pulp Detective Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Here's a first look of the movie(nothing exciting mind you): http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Check-Out-Giant-Pirates-Caribbean-5-Set-Australia-68958.html Quote
Zeev Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I hope we do get some more PotC sets, I really like the mini figures and could use some more for my pirate crew. Also more ships would be nice. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Thanks - I will be interested in new POTC sets coming out. However, I usually use yellow minifigs, so all of the heads and hands will be discarded... But it is a long time until 2017! Quote
Zeev Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 However, I usually use yellow minifigs, so all of the heads and hands will be discarded... If you are look for a place to discard them, I have some pirates missing hands and heads... Quote

I do keep the fleshies parts around when I do collaboration builds and the other people are using fleshies. I wonder what POTC ships could be released in 2017... Quote
cullmancreations Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 At least lego is doing a non licensed pirate theme. I really want to see what Lego could do when they bring back a non licensed Western theme. I hope they dont wait almost 2 deacades after the lone ranger sets. Quote

I hope they dont wait almost 2 deacades after the lone ranger sets. I don't think they will. Between LR and TLM they built up a good new stock of Western tooling. Each of the recent CMF offerings has had Western Characters. And while LR did awful in theaters the Lego sets sold well. Heck they sold extremely well before anyone saw the movie. Quote
Pulp Detective Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Hepefully you're right,I always wanted the return of the western theme. Quote

I wonder what POTC ships could be released in 2017... Well, I do'nt throw the fleshies away. POTC ships - yes that will be the key thing. QAR was quite good. Unless you mix it with friends sets, of course. ;-) Quote
Pulp Detective Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) Rumors talk about the lead villain being a ghost pirate,if it's true I would love a pirate ghost ship. Also, filming will start February. Source: http://masterherald....r-of-2017/6999/ Edited January 7, 2015 by LOTR34 Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I would love a pirate ghost ship. Wasn't the Black Pearl a pirate ghost ship in the first place? With the curse on them, etc.? It is black enough for a ghost ship! What would you expect from a ghost ship? Quote

What would you expect from a ghost ship? Well I imagine it with mostly grey colors and white sails. And I hope we get something like that since I never had the chance to get the Black Pearl Quote
