rodiziorobs Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) Amusingly enough, I'm completely of the other opinion. I loved the first film, and really disliked the subsequent 2, but felt that the 4th was an excellent film that hearkened back to the original in many ways. ~Insectoid Aristocrat I share a lot of this sentiment--the first one was fantastic, the second had potential but was about 1.5 hours too long, and I can't bring myself to say anything good about the 3rd. As a result, I never saw the 4th. However, I am glad to see a 5th coming out. Especially now that Disney and Co. has stopped giving blank checks to Jerry Bruckheimer after the Lone Ranger fiasco. Hopefully POTC5 is tightened up with a better story and better direction. Edited November 16, 2015 by rodiziorobs Quote
Actor Builder Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I'll agree that the first was, by far, the best, but I love the Flying Dutchman and the Fish-People and Davy Jones, so I enjoyed the second a lot and the third was...It wrapped up the plot and had some action. My problem was that the fourth was so far from the first three. In terms of plot. The third was all about "The last of the pirates", then here comes Blackbeard in the fourth, who for some reason was not at all included in the "Last of the pirates". Also, the fourth withheld many favorite characters from the first three. By favorite characters I mean ones like Pintel and Raggetti and minor characters, not Will and Elizabeth. I was happy they were gone. But Will is said to return in the fifth, so.... Quote
N-4K0 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 My favorite so far is At Word's End. The Flying Dutchman with its seaweed-covered wood and sails and grim appearance fascinates me, same with the crew, and how realistic it all looks. AWE also contains one of my favorite scenes from the movies, the first (if I'm not wrong) scene of TFD as it bursts through the surface of the sea before annihilating the pirate float. Great scene, with such a fitting musical theme. Quote
Actor Builder Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I did like the part in At World's End where Lord Beckett dies. Such a great dramatic death sequence. One of my favorite death scenes. Braveheart and Gladiator still top the list of best death sequences though. Quote

Is that where the ship goes up in flames and shards fly all around him while he moves slowly along? I guess I can say something good about that movie, then. It was definitely a well-done, highly stylized scene and was great to watch. Edited November 19, 2015 by rodiziorobs Quote
Actor Builder Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Is that where the ship goes up in flames and shards fly all around him while he moves slowly along? That's the one! It's just beautiful to watch as simultaneously he admits personal defeat while the biggest ship in the franchise is blown to bits. Quote

Great scene, with such a fitting musical theme. My sentiments as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the AWE, the acting, the battle at the end and the music all complimented each other well. That said however, I did enjoy the first film. The special effects were very powerful and the music was also very good. Quote
Ardelon Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I liked the first film best, followed by the third, and the second and fourth are tied. Not really a fan of sea-monster pirates. My own opinion of Becketts death scene is rather low, as it seemed like a deus ex machina moment, kind of like the army of the dead at Minas Tirith. But on the whole, Im excited for another installment. Quote
Cammo Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 Just a little update due to the Star Wars episode VIII reschedule; Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be taking its slot which means it will be in theatres on May 26 2017 instead of July 7 2017. (Hooray 1000th post ) Quote
Actor Builder Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Pirates was moved up, then, yes? That means LEGO may not have enough time to properly create Iconic figures and sets from the film. Uh-oh. Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 That means LEGO may not have enough time to properly create Iconic figures and sets from the film. Uh-oh. For all we know, they might have already been working on some. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I hardly doubt that bringing the release date forward a little over a month will throw a wrench in Lego's plans. Quote

Cammo Posted May 13, 2016 Author Posted May 13, 2016 (edited) Fairly large update full of video's and pictures on set: http://teaser-traile...he-caribbean-5/ - Johnny has already started doing a voice-over for the teaser trailer and there are finishing editing the trailer. - Pictures of Barbossa and the new ghost ship "Silent Mary" are in the website link above. Plot synopsis: “Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is pursued by an old rival, Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), who along with his crew of ghost pirates has escaped from the Devil’s Triangle, and is determined to kill every pirate at sea. Jack seeks the Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact which grants its possessor total control over the seas to defeat Salazar.” Edited May 13, 2016 by Cammo Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 That looks more like they're recording ADR to me than a voiceover given how the screen in the picture appears to be showing Jack Sparrow speaking. Quote
Local Knowledge Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 (edited) Not really looking forward to this one, but I am looking forward to more potential POTC sets! I totally was in my Dark Ages when the first sets came out, so I only got two. Though, the first few seemed to not have sold that well. I'm looking forward to it! I have almost every set. But what do you mean with Dark Ages? Edited May 13, 2016 by Local Knowledge Quote
Columbus019 Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I mainly hope that LEGO will re-get their POTC licence. Columbus Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I mainly hope that LEGO will re-get their POTC licence. Columbus I don't see why they wouldn't. In fact, they'll probably include Pirates of the Caribbean in LEGO Dimensions with a Story Pack based on the new film. Quote

Kaboozle Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 For me, DMC was always the best, followed by Curse Of The Black Pearl. OST just didn't quite have the same feel as the original trilogy, and the lack of all but three of the original cast made it less of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie and more of a pirate movie with Jack Sparrow in. At least, that's my opinion. Quote

Pulp Detective Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 For me atleast Will and Elisabeth were always the weakest link of the films,I just couldn't buy the fact that they were in love not to mention there was no chemistry between them. One of the reasons I love the fourth film is that it centers on Jack and him being my favourite character of the series made the movie even better. Quote
LegoRomania Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Will is back in Dead Men Tells No Tales Quote
