I agree, with Will & Elisabeth leaving the franchise it didn't feel right. Not too mention not having the Black Pearl or crew (including jack the monkey)pir_laugh2.gif

I forgot to mention the Pearl not being there. There weren't even any ship battles as the only ships were the Queen Anne's Revenge and Barbossa's ship, which were never in the same place at the same time.

It seems they manage to get the Pearl out of that bottle, but who's going to crew it? When it sunk, was Barbossa the only survivor, or did Pintel, Ragetti, Marty, Cotton and the others all make it?

For me atleast Will and Elisabeth were always the weakest link of the films,I just couldn't buy the fact that they were in love not to mention there was no chemistry between them.

One of the reasons I love the fourth film is that it centers on Jack and him being my favourite character of the series made the movie even better.

Well, Kiera Knightley has said she's done with the franchise, so Elizabeth will not be returning for Dead Men Tell No Tales, but there are rumours that the film will be centered around Will's relationship with his son, Henry. (I always thought their son was called William Turner III) Edited by Kaboozle

Yea that's what I heard,I also heard that Will doesn't have a big role in the movie but that remains to be seen.

I've seen sources saying it'll focus on Jack and sources saying it'll focus on Will and his son (one of these being Orlando Bloom). I'm hoping it'll be somewhere in between.

I always found the supernatural elements to be the weaker links, especially in the third and fourth films. Curse of the Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest both incorporated it nicely into the plot, but in At Worlds End all the crap about Tia Dalma being Calypso and then growing fifty feet tall kinda distracts you from the plot and, as she does nothing but turn into loads of crabs and a storm, is completely pointless. In On Stranger Tides it isn't as bad, but does Blackbeard really need to be able to control his ship with his sword? Because he uses those ropes to stop the mutiny, we missed out on what could've been a great scene of Blackbeard fighting the mutineers.

I've always been intrigued by the supernatural elements of the films,I think it makes the world of PotC more richer.

But I agree about Tia Dalma and her sub-plot,it was kinda a mess.Actually I think the third movie in general is a mess.

Agreed. I am actually now rewatching OST, and it's growing on me the second time I watch it.

Well we know Marty survived as he has been cast into the new movie, but I wasn't under the impression that the ship sunk? We also know that Jack the money survived as he is also in the new movie.

Good to know Marty and Jack survived. And I didn't mean sunk, I meant bottleified.

Yea I agree, the fourth movie (On Stranger Tides) is underrated but also gets alot of unnecessary hate.

For me honestly it's my favourite movie of the whole franchise, followed by the first movie (The Curse of the Black Pearl).

And one of the many reasons I like those two movies is because they represent the core of the franchise.

They basically fun and lighthearted adventures, that's what the PotC movies should be.

The second and third are my least favourite movies because they diverge from the formula that was establised in the first movie.

In those two movies the scope becames too big,too epic, with too many characters and plotlines. That is why the third movie (On Worlds End) is a complete mess.

I'm kinda worried about the upcoming movie (Dead Men Tell No Tales) because with the reaction the fourth movie had Disney might try the same thing they did with the second and third movies.

But that's of course me speculating, the fifth film might end up being a great movie. After all we haven't any footage from the movie just yet so making baseless speculation and worrying for no reason is pointless.

Let's just hope the trailer will drop soon.

I really don't know where all the negativity from OST comes from. Is it because Will and Elizabeth are absent?

I would really like to better understand what people dislike about that movie so much. If you want to say it's "not as good as the first" Then ok I'll give you that. I just don't see any sort of drop from 2 and 3 to 4.

Heh Will and Elizabeth were always my least favourite characters.

I was so glad when they didn't return for the fourth film.

And from what I hear Will wont have a big role on the upcoming movie.

The way I see it,nowdays people just love to complain and nitpick about everything. You can't satisfy them anymore.

Frankly I found OST to be superior to the previous two films, and a tonal return to the fun of CotBP. The two revolving around Davy Jones just got needlessly convoluted and the two redeeming characters, Will and Elizabeth, totally changed their characterization.

I have my hopes up for this new film thougj. From what I hear it sounds like it could be good fun!

I should really watch On Stranger Tides again before I complain, but the main problem for me was the lack of inclusion of the great secondary characters. It was too much of Jack Sparrow (At Worlds End had that problem as well though), and not enough other minor characters that I enjoy. I know they tried to add new ones, but I missed Pintel and Ragetti and the two British Soldiers, etc.

I also felt like it was weird that in At Worlds End they were the last pirates ever or something, and then Blackbeard showed up in On Stranger Tides. Shouldn't he have been present at the Pirate Council Thing?

That's just my opinion. It could have been better, but it wasn't terrible. The LEGO sets were fun though.

It has been to long since I watched any of the films (heck last time I was at Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean was closed to so it has been years since I last rode the original ride!) I really should watch the first film again. Of the four films, the third film is my least favorite, although it has a redeeming quality in that the "Davy Jones's Locker" purgatory scenes were filmed near my hometown. The local newspaper had photos of the film production on the front-page the day after filming was completed.

The more Jack Sparrow the better I say.And honestly the new characters that were introduced in the fourth film were great overall.Blackbeard was terrifying as the villain and Angelica was also an enjoyable character, certainly better than Elizabeth.

I agree, I liked Anjelica better than Elizabeth. Don't take what I'm about to say it the wrong way, because Kiera Knightly is a very beautiful woman. But let's be honest she's no Penelope Cruze. So that "may" play a role in why I prefer Anjelica

Yea well I always considered Elisabeth whiny and annoying,Angelica on the other hand was confident and smart.

Here's a little sneak peek from the new movie: https://www.instagra.../p/BKUYAUDA2ZZ/
