mephistopheles Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Hi there! Just finished my latest build. Loras the Hunter lives with his family in this house in Woodward, Avalonia. He has the privilege to hunt in Woodward, granted by Lord Mephistopheles himself. The Lord prefers to visit and hunt with Loras from time to time, thus he has a reserved room. Loras is also a secret member of the AAG, Avalonias most feared Assassins Guild. He is not only a Hunter, but a ruthless and cunning Assassin. I am looking forward to build some AAG scenes including Loras. I hope you like it! More pics on my Flickr! Quote
robuko Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Gorgeous panelling! Another great build. Is there any interior? Quote
Maxim I Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Epic build!! Really great way to make that coloured wood effect! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Lovely house The paneling is fantastic and the dark brown woodwork is superb Neat window design too, keep it up Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Incredible work, love all the details. I think this is your best work yet! Quote
Niku Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I completely love the walls. This is the build I like the most from you. Thanks for sharing. Quote
ZCerberus Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Someone's been reading DC's guide! Very nice. Cheese slopes mastered, now the panel effect. Great job. Quote
de Gothia Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Looks great! That hunter must be happy living in that fancy house! Quote
Wedge09 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Really nice work  I really like how you made the walls Quote
SkaForHire Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Awesome walls, I don't think I have seen that technique used like this before - usually it is just on bookshelves! The rest looks great too, but where is the door??? :) Keep up the great work! Quote
mephistopheles Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Thanks everybody for the nice comments! Someone's been reading DC's guide! Very nice. Cheese slopes mastered, now the panel effect. Great job. Well yes, I have been reading DC's guide a couple of times. Yet I don't want to think of myself as a DC clone. I think I figured out quite some things of my own, in especially the roofing, color scheme, the windows on the top story and also those cheese slope walls in earlier builds were not in DC's guide. Just saying. Quote
Mike S Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 This is an awesome build and ever since your cheese slope builds, all your builds seem very original to me. Quote
MikeyB Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Looks great Mephis, good to see a few Avalonian builds popping up. now that said, I should get building! Quote
PenPlays Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I need to make a "village" house sometime. I'm due. Not to mention inspired, of course. Well done Meph. Eagerly waiting for more. Quote

Just saying. Those were two different comments, and I never called you a DC clone. I was just glad to see a different siding technique from the cheese slopes. Though building like DC certainly is not an insult. Quote
Kayne Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Word...I would love to be considered anywhere near a DC clone! But, this definitely has its own feel to it and I love it! Quote

Kristel Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 This is a stunning building. There are so many great details, but the things that stood out for me are how you have done the windows on the arches, the panelling and the trim on the roof. The colour combinations are perfect. Is / will there be an interior? Quote
mephistopheles Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 Unfortunately there will be no interior. The disadvantage of building with dark brown is the lack of different sizes for plates. Therefore many of the 2x6 plates etc turn inwards, preventing me from doing an interior. I hope LEGO will add more variety to dark brown. Quote
Derfel Cadarn Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 A very detailed build, full of character. I see you have tryed out that panelling idea and you have pulled it off wonderfully. I have only used it once and that was for the guide, so you can pretty much run with it all you want as its very uncommon. The colors are very gritty and work well. I know all to well about the problems with using dark brown, lets hope Lego hurry up and release 1x1, 1x2 and 1x4 plates in that color, things would be so much easier!!! I also think you should still push forward with your cheese wedge walls as well. I thought that was a great original idea and gave you a 'style'. Keep up the great work! Quote
mephistopheles Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 Thanks Derfel! Regarding the cheese slope wall technique: I need to parctice more with it! Like how I can add tiles to wall and/or how I could make more interesting shapes. Imagine a side wall that shows a green dragon mosaic on tan backround! That would rock! Once I figure this out I'll make some more cheese slope MOC's. Quote
Rogue Angel Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I love this building! The paneling is superb, and you've done a wonderful job with the supports for the second floor as well as the windows and framing of the second floor. The roof is also well done. Excellent MOC! Quote
