draganb Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) I was looking through some local used lego listings and came across this set: http://www.brickset....ail/?set=7572-1 Its a 7572-1: Quest Against Time set from the prince of persia line. While I'm not a fan of the movie, or the lego line for that matter, I found it to be a perfect parts pack for castle/history mocs. It can be had for around $30, and for that price you get 500 very usable bricks (including a light brick, and those great looking lion head bricks) and 4 great minifigs. What do you guys think, and can you recommend some other good value part packs? Edited January 16, 2013 by draganb Quote
pathas Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) *SNIP* I agree, i bought this set with damage box for $35. Good and useful parts, i can recommend. Edited January 16, 2013 by ZCerberus DO NOT quote an entire post just to say you agree with something in it. Especially pictures. Quote
ZCerberus Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Medieval Market Village. 1600 useful pieces for $100 USD. One of the best values ever. Quote
GandalftheAWESOME Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Gandalf Arrives and Barrel Escape are also great! Quote

Brickington Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I think this is a great buy, for all the rock pieces you get, and the light brick. Thank you for bringing this up, I didn't even know this set existed. Quote
Flobnomdob Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 That is a great set, with some great amounts of rock bits, without a single BURP! The PoP line was a great one anyway, with basically the ONLY Arabic architecture sets. Quote
gundamz Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 From my collection: Medieval Market Village (1600+ parts!) Battle of Alamut (good castle) Not from my collection, but that I think might be good: Gandalf Arrives (gets you a horse and a wizard, who you could use as Merlin, etc.) Quote
large88 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 POTC - The mill http://www.brickset....ail/?Set=4183-1 I agree, I got this set and the pieces are indeed very useful Also the 79002-1: Attack of the Wargs is a useful parts set. Lots of brown and leafs. 5 great minifigs and 2 rare animals Quote
gedren_y Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 What I found helpful was the Fire Nation Ship. Lots of black, dark bley and light bley, as well as quite a few flags. Plus some cool armor. I even use the fleshies for GoH. Quote
Wardancer Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 I was quite happy with 4842 Hogwarts. 1300 pieces a lot of rare tan bricks, also the green whose name i just forgot lots of figures, owls, accessories, capes I bought one for 85 euro (original price 130), sold of the 2 dementors for 16 euro, so I got almost 1300 pieces for just under 70 Euro. Artifex Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Medieval Market Village. 1600 useful pieces for $100 USD. One of the best values ever. This. Medieval Market Village is one of the best sets for Castle MOCs ever. Especially if you are building villages and such. I'd go with the castles themselves too. They got it all, after all -- minifigs, weapons and gear, walls, doors, roofs... I think the smaller castle-like structures like 7948 Outpost Attack are good part packs too. Quote
brodey1 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Vampyre Castle has a load of great parts for castle mocs, also a good amount of "brick" bricks. Quote
Sigolf Brimabane Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Vampyre Castle has a load of great parts for castle mocs, also a good amount of "brick" bricks. I feel bad for not buying it when it was on sale... The price was exactly one krona per piece, which is pretty okay here in Sweden. Quote
malonkevio Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Gandalf Arrives and Barrel Escape are also great! Quote
rufnek82 Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 I like 7097 Trolls' Mountain Fortress as a great parts pack. Lots of nice dark gray, light grey and brown pieces. Figures are nice as well. Quote
ShareburG Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 MMV is definitely a good choice. Also, the Uruk-hai Army set is very recommendable as well. Quote
Hey Joe Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Amazon US recently had 10223 Kingdoms Joust on sale for 25% off, 1575 great Castle pieces, figs and horses for $90, great stuff. Wish I could've bought ten of 'em! Joe Quote
Faefrost Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Helms Deep if you can get it on sale. In addition to being a great castle in and of itself, it is a phenomenal Castle type parts pack because it is a mostly brick built castle. Tons of light bley with sand green and some dark bley. Lots of neat useful castle pieces such as hinges doors and masonry bricks. Quote
kinggregus Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Quest against time proved to be a great set. I could get two at a discounted price last summer. Another set I found quitte helpful was Lego LOTR 9472, Attack on Weathertorp. It included lots of rock pieces, two horses, and some very useful part in my opinion. Quote
dyntar Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 The Mill Village Raid 7189 has a lot of useful parts if you are planning on building civilian houses. There's a lot of brown pieces and you also get some great animals. Quote
Sigolf Brimabane Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I find the 5929-1 set Knight and Castle Building Set very good. You get 144 pieces including a knight with a torso without heraldic symbols, and is double printed both on head and torso. You get a sword and a grey helmet. No shield though. The parts are nice too. Check it out. It should be pretty cheap too. I got one today. It is a cute little thing x) Maybe not one of THE best. But I got a cheap knight and some useful bricks :D Quote

The only concern I have is the grey helmet (not silver) which looks weird with the other kingdom's soldiers. Quote

Yeah you're right, he looks a little bit like the one who, because they had run out of all the good helmets, got the old spare helmet that had been lying around for a long time... I think though that I'll give him some different arms and a falcon shield from the Kingdom's Joust set :D Quote
