Like most people, I was anticipating the release of the Rancor Pit but was disappointed when it came out, especially on how it displays/connects with Jabba's Palace. So I decided to just customize it a bit by extending the base of Jabba's palace to the tower and double the width of the Pit, and increased the height by 2 bricks. This way, the gate on the pit can be used while the palace is on top. The back middle pillar still has the hidden wall section. Hope you guys like.

Thanks! Yeah, Spidey, I wanted to maintain the feel and playability of the original design so I didn't stray away from it that much. I just gave the rancor more space for destruction and allowing the gate to be operable while attached to the palace.

Significantly better than the original idea. I know TLG had certain parameters they had to meet, but this looks much better. And the playability is still there, so kudos on that.

I mostly just want the Pit for the Rancor and the keeper. But those individually go for as much as the whole set...

Keep up the good work!

Such an improvement! I especially like the extended base that goes under the tower. The way the official sets attach just makes the whole combination seem like such an after thought. This definitely corrects that. Great job!

Yeah, even before the Pit came out, I was never happy with how the tower connected to the palace.

..and thanks guys!

Yeah, I bought a second set without figs on eBay. I also had extra long dark gray plates from the local PAB.

I had intended to miss these sets, but I think, after seeing what can be done with them, I might try to acquire them if they end up on sale. That is an absolutely excellent modification.

Great work darwin! I knew it was just a matter of time before someone did a proper modification of these two sets so they would fit well together, and I must say you pulled it off seamlessly.

By the looks of it it seems you had another Rancor Pit set (?) to expand the underground base (quite expensive mod) or you just had a rich collection of similarly colored parts?

(OT: BTW, loved your PacMan avatar! Kabayan? :classic: )

This is probably one of the cleanest expansions of a set I've seen. I can't even tell from these pictures where the set ends and the mod begins, because you've so perfectly matched the building style of the set. Really excellent work.

Really excellent work Darwin. Working on my own mod at the moment thou I might now have to go back to the drawing board after seeing your build. Mine slides to the side of the Rancor set, will upload when finished. You have enthused me to get this done.

Appreciate the feedback fellas!

KielDaMan, yeah, I bought a second set without figs (as mentioned in another post), plus I had other dark gray bricks and plates.... and siempre!

Wolvarie, cant wait to see how you modded your set!

Sweet! Darwin, that is great work. I had been envisioning how I would MOC these two sets so they would work better together and yours is fantastic.

I was thinking, with mine, of also having the dungeon and EVE-9D9's chambers attached to the pit.

Wow, this looks really great, and it's awesome how you bought two Rancor Pits (even if one was without the figs). I love how there's more room to stand minifigures and how the pit is much bigger in size. I wish Lego did these two sets a little more like yours so when they were combined they would look like this.

Looks like I'm going to have to buy a second Rancor pit. Your mod looks fantastic. My parents are buying me Jabba's palace for my birthday next month, I'm going to try and get a 2nd Rancor pit before then.

Great MOD! I think of making this myself after seeing how awesome it is! could you maybe make a picture of which pieces you need extra to build this, and which pieces are left?

BTW, I saw someone inspired by your MOD:

Great MOD!

I guess that's what Lego is about: you buy the sets and mix-and-match and build and improve them -- and have fun doing it!

I really like your modifications.
