Sam892 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) I'm surprised this hasn't already been posted but, JP IV has a release date! It's set for June 13th 2014. Personally I think this is great news, with all the new modern tech the Dinosaurs will look incredible. Hopefully the story will be good as JP III wasn't as great as the previous two. Hopefully it will revolve around them having to go back to the Island for something, instead of rescuing a trapped kid. I also hope that the original cast will return. What do you guys think? Great or bad? Edited January 17, 2013 by Sam892 Quote
Leo604 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 The original cast combined with Steven Spielberg, imo, are what made the first movie the best so hopefully most if not all of them come back (Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, etc.) An interesting story would be that the raptors achieve the intelligence on par or above humans that we've seen in the series so far and invade the mainland or something. That thing with the humanoid looking ones won't fly so I hope they don't do that. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 It will be hard to recapture what the original had. It kind of went downhill (like most sequels) after that. I agree the cast helped make it work. Also, the director was huge in forming it the right way. A different director stated he wanted it originally, but then turned it down for some other project and after it came out he said he would have made it a lot scarier and less family friendly...so who knows how this will be. Walter Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 personally I felt like the only really "good" film was the first one. Still I am rather excited about the news! It'll be fun to watch people running from dinosaurs some more! Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 I'm completely excited for this!!! I'm hopeful that JP might get its own Lego theme, too. Quote
Sam892 Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 I'm completely excited for this!!! I'm hopeful that JP might get its own Lego theme, too. Well they made two JP III sets back in 2001, as part of the studios line. Hopefully if we do get some sets LEGO will do what they did with POTC. A few sets in the spring based on JP I - III, and a few in the summer based on JP IV. Thinking about JP IV some more it will be interesting to see what changes with all the new information we have about dinos. We know some of them had feathers so I would love to see them explain this in the film. Maybe all the Frog DNA canceled out the feathers. I'm also interested to see some new Dinosaurs, but I want the T-Rex and Triceratops to duke it out. Quote
snaillad Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I hope they don't go for full CGI and still make the effort to use animatronics like the first film. I would like to see them return to the original island especially if its overrun with dinosaurs and without power Quote
Brickscape Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I think the one thing that made the original (and by far the best) film superior to its sequels was the fact that the dinos were treated as animals NOT as monsters. There were also scenes in which the dinos were appreciated for their majesty and beauty. If the fourth film can recapture that mentality as well as bring something new to the franchise, then it'll be an interesting film. I'll be in line to see it, regardless. I just hope it's worth the wait (it's been a long time). Quote

Sam892 Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 That is a shame, especially with the recent dino moulds. The Kreos don't look great in my opinion, the figures look a lot like minimates. Quote
Leo604 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I've never bought any KRE-Os, how are they? Not as good as Lego I'm sure. I've always thought of Kreos as a mix between Lego building and Playmobil figures. This is a shame, yeah. :/ Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Damn. That's not the news I was hoping for at all. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Since it looks like my most-wanted Lego theme will probably never happen now, I went ahead and placed an order on Bricklink for a few Dinos and some "Jurassic Park"-esque elements. Looks like I'll be MOCing my own JP theme sometime in the future. Quote

The_Chosen_1 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I'm looking forward to seeing how he handles the film, as he's a fairly unknown director. Apparently he's a huge fan of the franchise, though, so that's a good sign. Quote
BrickG Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 JPIV is my only hope at getting those Lego dinos that I really wanted but couldn't justify getting... if Lego gets the franchise. Quote
Leo604 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Well at least Spielberg is staying on as executive producer, which relieves me a lot. Quote
Sam892 Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 Hmm I haven't heard anything about this director before this news. So I'm not sure wether its good or bad. Anyway I still think this movie will be great, especially with all the advancements in CGI and 3D. Quote

As Rune Haako posted, it appears as though Hasbro will have the construction toy license for JPIV. It's a real shame, as JP was one of my most-wanted franchises for Lego. As soon as I heard this news, I purchased some dinos from Bricklink to make my own custom JP theme. Quote

Sam892 Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Colin Trevorrow tweeted today that none of the dinosaurs will have feathers. Personally I prefer this. To me it wouldn't make sense for the Fully grown dinosaurs to start growing feathers. At the start of the film they can just say ' we discovered that the reason the dinosaurs at Jurassic park don't have feathers. It's because the frog DNA stops them from developing them. ' Quote
