Posted January 17, 201312 yr I saw brickset had posted up a parts inventory for the forthcoming Robin and Redbird Cycle polybag set- http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=30166-1 So thought id have a look to see what the set could possibly look like based on the inventory- obviously the listed inventory may not be 100% complete (it is missing the wheel hubs at least), and no idea if the actual set will look like this, but thought it was a fun idea to see what it may look like as I had the parts- Robin's Redbird Cycle by smokebelch, on Flickr
January 17, 201312 yr Nice job, smoke belch. It wouldn't surprise me if the official model looks very similar or the same. Not a bad little cycle for a polybag. Maybe not as good as last years jet ski, but it's nice to see Robin get something at least.
January 17, 201312 yr Excellent idea to try and build the set before it is actually released. Even though your build might not be 100% accurate it looks great.
January 17, 201312 yr That looks interesting. The build itself may not be amazing in the polybag, but I agree that it is good to have Robin get some love too. If I didn't already have a Robin figure, this would be a great way to get it. But I don't necessarily need him to do anything other than stand around. Thanks for trying to figure that out though. The build looks good!
January 17, 201312 yr I don't think they sell polybags in Canada as I haven't seen any yet. (Which sucks cause I wanted some Mirkwood Elves or Uruk Hai's) I'd love to get this though...I need a Robin Edited January 17, 201312 yr by Zaterdag
January 18, 201312 yr Nice work. I was thinking about doing this as well and you built it almost the same way I would. Unfortunately I'm not too fond of the design, but I think this is how it's gonna look. Nonetheless, as others have said, it's nice to see that Robin gets some love, and this is a nice way to get him if you don't already have him.
January 19, 201312 yr Very cool idea. I think there's a different and interesting challenge in trying to come up with a model using only the parts from a given set, and you've definitely risen to that challenge.
January 20, 201312 yr Author Cheers for the comments guys, given the parts listing pretty easy to figure out how it was gonna fit together. Be interesting to see if any other parts not listed- as I said the wheel hubs are not on the inventory yet, but not sure what else you could really add... Well apart from the obligatory flick fires I suppose! :D I quite like the bike, would work well as a more compact bike for Batman if you change the colours as well. Though it's nice Robin gets a cool little vehicle for this wave of Batman. Be interesting to see where this set will turn up first, The Sun in the UK have advertised the next Lego Freebie Promo coming up 'soon'- could be mid Feb as thats Half Term here...
January 20, 201312 yr Formerly TeardropTrashcan, fancied a change. What are you on about, mate? Sorry to go off topic, mods.
January 20, 201312 yr I like that it matches the existing Batcycles/Batpods from the current sets. It looks much better in that regard than the Captain America/Catwoman cycle mold that I was expecting.
January 21, 201312 yr I look forward to buying the Robin polybag especially if the bike looks like this.
February 3, 201312 yr Robin's bike really looks interesting, definitely a must have for fans. Great work.
February 20, 201312 yr Anyone else think it looks like spiderman's cycle in the set with venom and nick fury?
February 21, 201312 yr Anyone else think it looks like spiderman's cycle in the set with venom and nick fury? That works for me. I've had Robin driving the (ugh!) Spider cycle for months now. At least Robin is supposed to have a motorcycle. Whereas Spiderman's lack of a drivers license has been a wonderful running gag for 40 years now. Heck I think in Marvel comics Daredevil is a better driver, and has more road time.
February 22, 201312 yr Very nice! I doubt the "official" version looks much better than this (save for the inevitable decals, maybe). I like the Batman jetski set, but it always seemed kind of silly and situation specific (Lego sure loves them some Bat-watercraft), A motorcycle for Robin is a much more versatile (and, frankly, cooler) idea. Looking forward to picking this up!
