After over 2 months of building and rebuilding, I present Vader's TIE Advanced Mobile Suit!

I really tried to make a bigger badder mech than the X-Wing, since Vader is such a powerful character.

Finally, the epic battle between the X-Wing Gundam and the TIE Advanced Mobile Suit begins!

Thanks! That was the real trick, actually: making it look Gundam-esque and TIE Advanced-esque at the same time.

And I think you've succeeded. The wings on the back do it for me: it is indeed a slice of awesomeness! Love the little Vader in there as well.

Minor point of criticism: perhaps the shield should be curved/folded like the TIE-wings ( like so: \___/ ) as well for instant recognition from the front?

These guys are awsome! Finally someone made an amazing Vader mech. The red eyes put it over the top. Are the gundam force powered, or are they using a nuclear battery?

I think you've done a great job of taking the tall and sleek Vader look and translating it into a hulking and almost completely angular mecha feel. For example, the wings on the back might have done a better job of representing the cape were they longer, but then I'm not sure if they wouldn't have looked too bulky or made the area too busy - I think that's an excellent example of the great job you've done finding the middle ground between the Vader features and the mecha features.

Once again you've done it! Just like the X-Wing, you took the details everyone knows from the TIE and put it into a Gundam. That face is terrifying! It has the same menacing feel that Vader does. The wait was well worth it. Great 'Epic Battle' photo, too!

Thanks! I originally planned on making the shield look like a TIE wing, but I think it would've been too much, since he has them attached to his back.

Thanks! I figure that they would be nuclear powered, since I'll be building mechs not piloted by Force-sensitive characters (Millennium Gundam, anyone), BUT, mobile suits operated by the likes of Luke, Vader, Obi-Wan, etc would have the added advantage of Force power, as well.

Thanks, Doc, and thanks for the blog! I thought about making the wings longer to represent the cape shape, but they were already falling off every time I posed the figure. Plus, longer wings would get in the way of his legs when moving.

Thanks! The true challenge was to combine both themes, and I'm glad that I succeeded. I'm gonna take a break from this theme for a bit so I can work on some mocs that don't take me months to build.

It reminds me of the original Megatron (which shows my age!); the only way you could improve this would be to make it actually trans-formable!!
