oo7 Posted January 26, 2013 Author Posted January 26, 2013 Thanks to all for the superb compliments and support! Well there's my idea toasted......oh, well excellent work 'oo7'.....cool snow blower and neat little hardware store......dam, I was going to try and a last minute entry. Good luck and Brick On 'oo7' ! I do recall there was an entry sort of like a hardware store in a previous year's Winter Village competition. I think you'd be none the less justified in something similar and I'd certainly be interested in seeing your idea in brick! This is really nice - tons of great little details here. Another superb entry, and one that stands out a bit from the others. It's an unusual and different idea. I like it! I indeed liked the concept for being unique, even if it didn't fit in as well with the line as a whole (particularly the first three sets). I think it fair to say that conformity is the greatest enemy of innovation! Neat build. I like the snow melting on the roof. I also like the radiator of course. How similar is that to the one in the Green Grocer? Good luck with your entry! Judging from images on Brickshelf I'd say it's similar to Mike's (my source of inspiration as I was first able to place it, but it's likely that I saw the Green Grocer model without it making as large of an impression) on the account of the technic liftarms and in turn to mine by the bushes, but I find the choice of the antenna and clip plate somewhat infelicitous. Top job on this build oo7! I really like all the details you built in and outside of this yard. I especially like the snow blower. I'm very interested on how you built that The worm screw is on a 3L bar held on either end by a modified plate with the vertical clip which are in turn attached to two with the thick ring clip light. I may be able to get you a deconstruction image if you're really curious. Although I really really like this and it is really well built, I'd have to say I do not think it goes along with the other Winter Village sets at all. It's way to industrial while the official sets are cute and colorful. Thanks; I did want it to stand out (see comment to L@go). I felt that the cottage likewise deviated from it predessors, being private/residential instead of public/commercial. With those two big categories covered, I had to do something more specific, and the [ar]boreal craftsman theme - subtlely introduced by the cottage - was it! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 For the tiger it might a last day entry. Quote
greg3 Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I really like this.... all the machinery and the cool details (like the fantastic radiator) more than make up for the fact it might not "fit in" with the style of the official sets. Nice work Quote
Gabor Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Very cool! The radiator is fantastic! :) Quote
