Nothing earth-shattering, but here are some freight cars I've been working on using Collectible Minifig bases.

I've designed these cars to be as light-weight as possible, and for the most part I've succeeded. Both designs revolve around standard LEGO train bases to save weight. I already have 10 of the gondolas built, and my Allegheny enjoys pulling them. Looks real slick.

I still need to add texture to the load.

Since taking the picture, I've decided to switch to a 28 stud train base togo improve the length to width ratio.

Neat use of all those plates, Sava. I know you are trying to save weight, but have you tried using tiles over those studs to pose as reinforcing beams? :classic:

I have made a few smaller two axle wagons in a similar way using CMF bases and have added tiles across the studs. I don't have photos ye, but thy do look better with than without in my opinion and they are not that heavy.

Can I ask where the white CMF bases come from? I don't think I have seen them before?

Those arent white bases. They are brick built to look like it. Easily spotted in the picture.

I like that look alot. I've thought about building my own cars, but haven't yet done so. This looks like an good way to make some realistic hoppers. Thanks for sharing!
