Use LDD manager http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41993 It tells you what parts ar actually buyable and which are not. Second: Use Bricklink. http://www.bricklink.com/index.asp It's got almost every single part / set / fig / instruction /etc. ever made in it's catalog, and it's always being updated. Also, LDD Manager provides links to the proper brick on Bricklink. (Such as a part 3001, Brick 2x4.) You want to go there and buy 200 transparent black 2x4's, and it provides a link, but if the part doesn't exist (such as the trans-black 2x4's.) it will inform you that it does not exist. Anyway, nice locomtive, it really looks good. If you can't do orange, yellow would look good too. It has a more weathered - faded look to it, and more parts are avalible. But your selection will be limited to what they have in the wall at that time. I can get the price down to two to ten U.S. cents a piece with a large cup. Also if you go when a Lego convention is in town my Lego store has parts that are normally in the wall. Bill Quote

I wonder which the best way to buy separate bricks are Nice build. First off, I love your model but I'm not sure some of those parts are buyable. I think the toughest part would be the orange arches on the nose, but those came out last year in a set and can now be had for about $0.70 ea. It might be indulgent ($9 per), but I think it would look great with the black train windshield too. Pick-a-brick is the best place to get bricks seperate. Online PaB can be very pricy, some bricks are 10x more expensive there than on bricklink. Though you do occasionally find a bargan. In store PaB can be very good, but the selection is very limited. One thing with this engine is it might be worth parting out a set, e.g., if you found a complete 4564 used (looks like they are about $140), it would probably provide all the wheels you need, a 9v motor, the pair of windshields, plus some track. I have now removed som parts I don´t need (interior stuff) and now the price is 735 SEK or 103.25 USD. But I think I can get it even lower If that price does not include the 9v motor you should be able to get it lower. I'd guess $50-$75 (plus shipping). Less if you have some of the bricks in hand. 3D LEGO Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) Nice looking model. The only suggestion I would give is that personally, I feel it would look better with larger wheels. But I only say that, since having seen an actual Milwaukee Road EF-4/EP-4 (Milwaukee Road EF-4/EP-4), #E70 which is in Deer Lodge, Montana, USA. They are tall, but not as tall as you would expect, but they are long. I their "cousins'" operated by Great Northern were considerably taller. (Great Northern GN W-1) I also agree with the black framed and trans-black window suggestion that was made. Otherwise the custom sticker approach would give you more flexibility, especially to match the roof curve. 3D LEGO PS: When I saw #E70, it had already been repainted in the early light orange with maroon stripe, but no railroad name stencilling on the stripe. Just like it looks in this picture of it: Milwaukee Road #E70 Not my picture, but I do have one. EDIT: Snow plow. It needs one. Edited March 5, 2013 by 3D LEGO Quote
